Massage backfired, advice?

I've been working with a client for a month and a half now. She came to me saying she was having low back pain linked to foot issues. I noticed she had a higher right hip (illiac crest) and a mild s curve to her spine. I focused my work on deep work to the plantar fascia to break up the fibrotic tissue. work to relase left gluteus medius and right quadratus lumborum. Also worked to lengthen fasica away from the right hip down the itb, and towards the left hip up the itb. And moved fascia along the illiac crest from front to back.

It was working great, and last week after seeing me i was thrilled to find that her hips were totally even.

however...

the next day she woke up in worse pain than ever. everything i had been working on seems to be worse than before now. She had to have a cortizone shot for one of her feet and is apparently in severe lower back discomfort. Any ideas what happened and what the next step would be?

Thanks,

Adam

licensure galore

I have a question, curious if there are any other health professionals in this group other than LMT's..(Naturopaths, MD's, chiropractors, etc.)

I'm earning my massage license, but I don't want to limit my health profession to just that, and not to sound too naive, but I'd kind of like to start as early as possible for numerous reasons. I'm incredibly interested in some feedback on DC's vs CNM's vs CM's.... is there anyway to combine training for most of these? Can I get credits from previous training to put me ahead and shorten school time for other certifications/licensures, etc.?
Any firsthand info/help is GREATLY appreciated; I'm exhausted trying to figure stuff out via searching the internet- bleh!

Looking for an alternative to spa boom

I joined spa boom a while back and have sold some gift certificates. I
would like an alternative to spa boom, some kind of software that lets
me sell them from my website with out paying a commission. Anyone have
any software that will do this or any other ideas?
Thanks

I have a dislocated SI joint. Has been happening repeatedly for about 20 years. I've been able to adjust it myself up until this time...now I am on way more meds than I am comfortable with.

After a trip to the ER on Monday, I am taking 20mg Prednisone (1x/day)and 800mg Skelaxin (3x/day) to relieve the inflammation. Joint is still out of whack, standard docs are telling me it could take days to get inflammation down enough to manipulate the joint into proper position.

Never had a traumatic injury, this has been a life-long weakness.

Can Cranio-Sacral help me? How does it work?

massage school for folks without money?

I'm currently in Seattle, but I'm headed to the midwest soon. What I'm wondering is if I can find a program at a massage school where I can learn about massage for free (government funding) or for very little money. I absolutely cannot afford to pay much for tuition right now, but I really want to go to school for massage. This fantasy school of mine would preferrably be in the midwest, but it could be in any location. Does anyone know anything?

Introduction: Glenda from Chicago North Side

Hello all!
I am just wrapping up school, and will soon graduate and get my license. I have joined a couple of different tribes on MT today, so sorry if you have been seeing me all over the place.

I am particularly interested in using massage to help people overcome physical restrictions, and that is why my next major workshop will be in Myofacial Release.

One of the friends I have been practicing on has major knee issues (in short, she has arthritis, was operated on it, then misused her knee again. All the muscles surrounding the knee are hypertonic, and her fascia is really tough), and she has been raving about me to her Physical Therapist and Orthopaedic Doctor. It seems they would be interested in hiring me in their rehab clinic, and I would be very interested to do that.

So, I think I belong here. Looking forward to reading the discussions!

Peace,

Glenda

hello and thanks for stopping by! I hope this medium can help progress ideas and abilities and give us a solid ground to work on as we bring focus into the hospitals and areas such as that. Please feel free to throw out ideas and suggestions as how to make this a good working model for future information.
