beginning to SUCK to live in???

Dont get me wrong, I love the place, god I even set a whole tribe coz I do.. but just lately Ive been noticing things starting to change.. really quickly and its scaring the pants off me...

Getting to work... the trains are packed, late, cancelled.. expensive! Same with the trams...

Driving, the cost of petrol makes it expensive, its polluting.. but mental if you really need to drive somewhere. It took me an hour to get from the city to St Kilda junction one Friday night. I had to go to an engagement party in Frankston by 7.30. It took me 2 hours to get there and an hour to get back.

The cost of living.. if you use a supermarket (I hate supermarkets they are a shrine to our over consumption as far as Im concerned) you cant walk out of there without spending at least $40! And thats just for bread, milk, eggs etc.. basics. (Thankfully I work near the Vic Market now and can go in my lunchtime)

But housing, housing is the killer for me. One of my friends was told to move out (the owners wanted a city house for when they popped up from the country) and she ended up sleeping in the toilets of a church with her dog. Another friend just had her rent put up by $200 a month and the agents told her the other day that they had already advised her of this in November (she was told it would go up by $40, and never received the documentation) so now according to them she owes back rent as well!!!! Another friend, 16 years in the same place and now getting the boot. Cant find anywhere to live. And now my place is for sale. I have lived here for four years and love it, I have built a life and a community. So now I either have to buy it (she originally told me a price which has now gone up by $50K) so I dont think I can afford it, or I find another place to live!! I just read in the papers yesterday that the vacancy rate in inner city Melbourne is less that 1%!!!!!! Its almost impossible to find anywhere to live and I have a dog!!! Needless to say Im not sleeping all that well.

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2008/03/19/1205602482946.html

I dont see how this situation is ever going to improve. There are too many people sucking the planet dry. And things are starting to get nasty even in good old most liveable city Melbourne.

Sorry to be a doomsdayer.

Ive just been walking around and there are just so many creative Melbournians!! Amazing gardens and houses. Yes I know gentrification.. but just on a creative level.. there is so much great stuff. Not the better homes and gardens type stuff. But just pure creativity. So much funky stuff!!! From gardens.. heaps of native gardens. Yum I love it!!! Those weeping gums, with their gorgeous brown silver branches and their weeping forms, all sinuous and delicious (im addicted to random curvy swirly lines!) delicate eucalyptus leaves.. like tear drops.. and their puffy sweet bright pink fluff fluff flowers! And blends of architecture.. the old, the verandahs and stain-glass windows, the weather-boards and those glass doors. You know the ones with etched pictures on them, art deco nana homes. And then the 1950's yellow brick big window homes with the concrete footpaths edged by some standard roses. Noice lawns... but people are just doing great stuff. The funk is spreading. The funk is spreading. People are getting creative all over the place!! Get into it people!!! Plant more trees!!!! Gardens make a home for me anyway. Surrounded by trees and the birds they bring and the clean clean air. Cool in summer. Love it. The more native the better. If you build it they will come.

Connex spokesman John Rees said that falling debris on tracks and power lines has disrupted services across the rail network and advised commuters to monitor developments at the Connex website.

Belgrave lilydale, Glen Waverley and Alamien lines are known to be having trouble.. See if you can call a friend who might be on the trains before you head down there..

Alamein
leaving the city from Riversdale
Due to overhead power problems, train services between Camberwell and Alamein have been replaced by buses until further notice.

http://3cr.org.au/node/372

The Friendship Djerrip* Festival is an annual event that will provide an opportunity for non-Indigenous Australians to express their respect and support for Indigenous Australians and their culture. It aims at fostering friendship and partnerships between non-Indigenous and Indigenous people, while exploring our respective and shared histories, culture and stories.

The event will be a celebration and exchange facilitated through programs of film, theatre, music, visual art and art auction, a market place, workshops and talks.

Each year, all profits from the event will go towards an Indigenous project or organisation. The recipient for the 2008 festival donation will be The Maya Healing Centre, an Aboriginal place of healing in Thornbury, Melbourne.

The initial organisers of this event are a group of independent non-Indigenous Australians who seek to build a wider collaboration within our communities. The organisers aim to provide a framework that encourages the contribution and participation of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

The Friendship Djerrip Festival is auspiced by Lentil as Anything, a local charity with a focus on providing training and employment opportunities for refugees, and good quality food through their renowned chain of ‘pay as you feel’ restaurants.

Melbourne's must-see exhibition of 2008 is Game On, an action-packed celebration of games culture that has thrilled over one million players of all ages from around the world. The Exhibition also features the best of Australian-designed games.

The Medieval Imagination

My Metlink card had an ad on it today of interest "The Medieval Imagination"

Illuminated manuscripts from Cambridge, Australia and New Zealand
28 March - 15 June 2008
Open 10am-5pm daily (to 9pm Thursdays)

Curated by Professor Emeritus Margaret Manion AO

This spectacular free exhibition of medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts celebrates the art of the hand-written book or manuscript. Around half the works are from Cambridge University and its colleges, which together hold one of the greatest collections of medieval manuscripts in the western world. The remainder are from distinguished public collections in Australia and New Zealand, including works from the State Library of Victoria's own collection.

Over 90 manuscripts are on display. Dating from the 8th to the 16th centuries, they include examples of deluxe book production from Byzantium, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Works on display include sacred traditional texts as well as works of music, law, history, science and literature. These exquisite manuscripts offer a wealth of information on art and learning, and provide fascinating insights into the life and times of the medieval and Renaissance periods.

The exhibition is presented in five thematic sections:

The Bible: Illuminating the Word
The Book and Church Services: Liturgy and Ritual
The Personal Prayer Book: Psalters and Books of Hours
The Book and Knowledge: Science, Law, Literature and History
The Book and the Renaissance: The Humanist Book.
This landmark exhibition is curated by Professor Emeritus Margaret Manion AO, Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne and an international expert on illuminated manuscripts.

Getting to work in Melbourne city

SUCKS ASSSSSSSS!

The trains are packed like sardine cans (hey I lived in Tokyo and they were less crowded!). I live in Thornbury and by the time the trains get just there even, there are a squillion people trying to squish onto already packed trains! More often than not lately, half of the people have to wait till the next train. The trains are stupidly designed... less seats, more standing room with something to friggin hang onto pleeeeeeease!!!!!! Doesnt help that half of them are late or cancelled.

The trams are just as packed.

Driving is a joke.

Everyone is trying to catch public transport because of the cost of petrol.

Is this the begining of the end of civilisation as we know it?

Thank god I ride my bicycle to work! Great easy exercise and the ultimate freedom! GET ON YER BIKE!!!!!!!! It takes me 40 mins one way and I love it!!! Can recommend it enough. I only ride on bike paths and back streets!! Its as much fun as you remember it to be.

Melusina workshop - eastern suburbs Melbourne.

We are lucky enough to be hosting the wonderful Melusina for a workshop,

EARTH, AIR, WATER & FIRE

Middle Eastern Dance is a very emotionally expressive art form and each belly dance style can be interpreted through elemental imagery, energy and feel. In this fun workshop four miniature dance combinations will be taught that best reflect each of the four elements. EARTH will focus on a grounded,
Tribal/folkloric style sequence; WATER will incorporate sinuous, sensual floor work; AIR will express the light delicacy and elegance of the Classical Egyptian style; and FIRE sparks with the energy and joy of gypsy dance. The combinations will be accompanied with the appropriate music and expression associated with each style.

Sunday April 20th
Venue: Mooroolbark, Melbourne, Australia
2-4pm
Cost $40

Drop me a line if you are interested in coming along.....

couldnt resist posting this... ha ha

A man, on his way home from work was stuck in traffic on the Monash freeway which was much worse than usual. Noticing a policeman walking among the stalled cars, he asked...

"Officer, what's the hold up?"

The policeman says:
"Wayne Carey is so depressed about being caught beating up his girlfriend he's stopped his car and is threatening to douse himself in petrol and set himself on fire. He says his family hates him, fans hate him, his former team mates hate him, and he now won't have the $1million a year from his footy show contract.
I'm walking around taking up a collection for him."

"Oh, really?" the man says. "How much have you collected so far?"

"So far only 18 litres, but a lot of people are still siphoning."

Greetings all! I visited your fabulous country a few years back for the new year of 02-03... Never made it to Melbourne, but everyone I met from there was super-cool!
We flew into Sidney, stayed up late with the sounds of allypuking at the Cross, Took a hell of a long buss ride to Beautiful Byron... Stayed and played for a month, Ahhhhh,Good times at the bay~*~ 'Jesso hooked us up with a Ford Falcon, & we took off up the coast, noosa, coolum, majimba, gagajue, Camping and surfing... until the heat got to intense and the reef blocked the clean-epic surf we were there to score...and Score we did!
Much love to the good folks downunda!
Jah

Some of you may remember a time in the 80's when you used to be able to go to an Oils concert and enjoy some pretty cool music with a pretty strong message.

I can't help but think that times they are a changing.......

I am not sure that Peter Garrett is the person that people thought they were voting for. I kind of thought he would be the voice of my generation, it appears I was wrong. Shock, horror! I was deceived by politicians. Welcome to reality.

So, i just joined this tribe, and wanted to say hallo. Erm, you can check me out all you want, you can even see me appear in such great after school specials as "the australia tribe," the "trivia tribe" and other, more private ones which i guess you actually can't check me out in ... sorry to have mentioned that ... oops.

anyhoo, im moving to melbs purdy soon, and am v v v (did i mention V) excited about it ...!

i have quite a few friends there in real life [- shock horror - do i really exist in real life, or am i only a figment of your cyberimagination?], but am soooo up for meeting more tribe-esque kidults as mental as anything (didja like the aussie ref then to greedy smith's finest hour?).

Um, yeah, so i may not have had enough coffee and sugar yet, or may have had too much, but i just wanted to say, "Yo, wassup?" in a kinda kool funqy tone ... and you know, kinda wave ... with hanky now tied as a bandanna around my wrist.

[somehow i turned from mayflower to hip hop throughout this post ... yah, i don't know either).

um, hi.

Wildilocks @ The LockWorks: New alternative hair salon / clothing store in Melbourne CBD - we especially adore dreads :))))

Hi folks,

I have shop over in Perth [and online] which has been going for almost 5 years, and has been doing well enough and with enough interest from Melburnians that we've bitten the bullet and opened a new store over here. See www.wildilocks.com for full details and lots of gallery pics etc, but I'll give a general run down here:

Wildilocks @ The LockWorks is now Officially OPEN!

Our address is Level 1, 382 Little Collins St, with entrance on McKillop St. You can find us listed on maps.google.com if you type in "Wildilocks Melbourne" if you are not sure where that is.

Nearly all our clothing ranges have arrived, so we have good stock levels of a range of exciting goth/industrial/raver/hippie lines, including some certified organic cotton basics in black for the eco-conscious, and we are also Plastic Bag Free - we do sell some great reusable bags if you come empty-handed - they are also free with sales over $100.

As far as hair stuff goes Our Special Effects hair dye stock is brimming full, as is our KnottyBoy dread stuff stock for dreadlock maintenance! We use only Chi ammonia free permanent colours & lightener in the salon - if you've never used an ammonia free colour or bleach before you're in for a big surprise.

Our Melbourne manager is Kat Martin, who has over 20 years of salon and teaching experience, specialising in colour and colour correction, alternative bridal, and (most excitingly) vintage hairstyles. She also runs Raqs Gothique, Melbourne's Gothic Bellydance school and performance troupe.

Our opening hours are:

Tuesday - 10.00am - 5.00pm
Wednesday - 10.00am - 5.00pm
Thursday - 10.00am - 7.00pm
Friday - 10.00am - 7.00pm
Saturday - 10.00am - 5.00pm

Our phone number in the store is (03) 9642 3384, and the main contact email address for the LockWorks is info@thelockworks.net.

10% discount til the end of the year if you mention Tribe, btw :))

Also, we are looking for one training model for permanent dreadlock installation, and one for dreadlock maintenance in the next week - both services absolutely free, plus one for wool dreadlocks extension installation, where cost is just for materials [under $50]. PM me if interested :)

If you have any questions please ask away!

If you ever want an amazing chilled out cheap place to stay in Daylesford.. so mellow and cruisy its blissfull... with an amazing yoga teacher.. a teepee if you like.. vegan feast on Sat nights or self cater kitchen... with old chenile bed spreads and a great verandah... then look no further than the continental. Been a few times now, but I stayed there on the weekend and did the package with Yoga and the Vegan feast. Its was the best yoga I have ever done (really meditative + physical for 2 hours, but not killer) and the food and whole chilled out experience was just what i needed.. cant recommend it enough... its been around for a while but wont be too long before it gets swallowed up by some big developer...

Saw this last night, and aside from the fact that I almost spewed in my popcorn.. (yes it is very graphic.. 3D blood comes hurtling at you, the monster is so gross and the action blood curdling), and that the dialog is incredibly cheesy.. it was pretty cool. Specially the glasses, hot stuff baby. It was quite overwhelming at times, and Angelina's head was way to big for her body as the evil mother, but overall it was good esp coz it was free! I had nightmares last night over it, but would recommend it... but not for young kiddies. Lots of nudie bits too, bit Austin Powers at times. 3D was the best bit.

G'day

There is a bit of an Aussie theme going in the Trivia Tribe.. for example we have had a thread on "Sydney Trivia" http://tribes.tribe.net/triviarocks/thread/29790184-6760-4134-acbc-f0cf27dd6bae

We also play a game posting photos and you have to guess "Who Where & When"

I posted one of Francis De Groot at http://tribes.tribe.net/triviarocks/photos/d7e32528-1ad9-4123-8436-f1d0cdd2d889 and it took em a while to get it.... and there is quite a few Aussies in the Tribe !

I just posted one at http://tribes.tribe.net/triviarocks/photos/6a484f6f-e7dd-4b22-a797-bed797a51829 surely you guys know who it is ?

My first question was "What is the Capital of Australia" and the first crack at it was "Queensland" LOL

(oh... and I am posting this across a few Aussie tribes to see if you know who it is...... I thought De Groot was easy !)

Well finally bloody Johnny has called the election! And if you care about Climate Change (but even if you think its a load of bollocks, we still change the way we live for this planet to be able to support humanity into the future) then come and join the next Walk Against Warming and show Johnny and Rudd that this is a huge issue they need to do something about!

Sunday 11 November!!!

mmmm saggy ones, a little bit unavoidable, not really though, well mine sort of just shrank back to almost where they were before. But my nipples are bigger, I blame my second childs vaccum like suction, which was handy when you only had five mintues to sit down and feed.

Pelvic floor, actually mine is better AFTER my second child. Think it was down to a talented obstetrician (even though he arrived five minutes after the birth) and some clever stiching. Plus I squeezed both out without drugs, which some old wives say is good for using those muscles, gets them toned.

freaky child related stuff, there is a tribe just for it, but the women there scare me a little bit

another weird fact: breasts spontaneously leaked after orgasm...hormones hey?

Melbourne Funky Feral Underground forever

Melbourne Funky Feral Underground is my favourite tribe, I’m not embarrassed to say that, I’m even advertising it on my profile! There’s something so warm and welcoming and Melbourne about it.

I dunno if it’s because no one here cares that my underpants do match my bras, or the only time I did acid was at an outdoor rave in the country where I crossed a paddock three times to meet the person I was convinced I knew and had auditory hallucinations about the little people in my car. And even knowing they don’t care, I want to say I am seriously considering renaming my children to “Pogo” and “Stick” and dreading up their hair, although I will hold off on piercing their scrotums until they are of a school age.

It’s like it’s the essence of Melbourne itself; on one hand a big exciting cosmopolitan city with dappled light filtering through ancient trees, on the other a myriad of cobbled back streets and dark corners containing everything from boutique clothes to junkies to tasteful eateries flanked by putrid garbage bins. So too will you find the whip-like lash of a female’s wit or two here, and to-wit (or should I say,‘twit’) the casual swagger of the bloke of the feral species, unleashing his fine wares for us all to gasp at in unified wonderment.

And for our fair Smelkstar, the dom of our moderation, who is anything but moderate in her passion for Melbourne, I can only say a heartfelt thank you from the bottom of my own pumping organ. I’m currently petitioning John So to change the name of our fair capital to ‘Smelbourne’ and I encourage you all to do so too.

If you are not from Melbourne, and I know some of our most treasured ferals hail from parts hither and thither, I implore you to consider joining the merry tribe of us. I am now working for the city and am keen to get, if not all, then at least 0.05% of tribal members to travel to Melbourne, enriching our city and allowing me the fantasy of one day erecting a Burning Man in the middle of Federation Square so that I may dance around it tastefully wearing my black suit and pumps.

I’m here for the long haul my friends, I would rather stick splinters under my fingernails than leave you. (and I know this hurts like hell because of a recent masturbatory accident where this actually happened)

ONE

the battle is ONE and gone...

nourishment yearned for

needed to be received

locked up

held away

and left them withering of bone

and of flesh

with hungry hearts

and loins

insatiable

and unfulfilable desire

desperation has been

the path of crumbs

that led me to MY door

why have I not opened to me

fully, wholly

for the angst maintained

for so very long

insisting that you

or someone

would be there

to share

care enough

to prove me wrong

have I not held you away

whilst begging for you to be near

whilst my need

clutched,

pounded

at your chest

no treasure found there

merely a wink in time

of pleasure

then despair

pushed to the edge

and this time

the precipice so high

so vast

so misty, the abyss

she plunges

into the mystery

a future no one knows

alone

she goes

she must

she knows...

surrenders lack

completely

finally understanding

investment in lack

always proves itself to prosper

manifest

there

is just ONE answer

give it over

lay down your arms

idiot

do you not see

IT IS ME

you seek

and look beyond

a billion times

or more

I AM here

give it up

desire

give it up

lack

give it up

attachment

trust

trust

TRUST!

I AM here

always was

always will Be

for I AM

the INFINITE

Heart and Mind

Spirit

as ONE

within thee...

my love, on my doorstep you have been, maybe for a month. please

do not begrudge me this growth. and you think you are ready to unite.

and I question has this unity occurred within your own being or is it

still based upon this desire I write of. either way, it is all fine.

it is again, early wee hours I have been awake and typed out these

words as they came. to be refined, no doubt. but within them the essence

of the freedom they speak of. i seem to be finally getting it.

mmmm... long and arduous do we hammer away for love we refuse to

offer ourselves fully. lets see, if we can be done with this, and then

savor, a lovers kiss, the bliss, fuller union, borne from within, that which

cannot be taken away.

infinite and eternal, as IT is.

a great alternative / Hip Hop / Punk band, whatever the hell that means.

One of the rare occasions where I'll be able to say at the door. "I'm with the band" my cousin is in Butterfingers! But I won't tell you which one he is, don't want to embarrass him too much...I'll just say, we used to call him 'little David' now he's huge!

Following on from Blokes first class in-depth research, and some of the feedback, I would like to report on an interview from the Melb Writers Festival. From equally in-depth research for a book called “Forbidden Language” the following information was quoted during the interview:

Number slang words in English:
Penis=1800
Vaginal=2000
Lose woman=4000

None was mention, nor can I think of one, for a lose man.

Sure I can think of some to describe a man chasing skirt, but none to describe a man being lose.
Conclusion?

A few of us seem to be doing this at the moment...

I am not really “job hunting” but actually considering a career change.. I am thinking of engaging some professional advice – but at this stage - I would not even be able to form compressive questions to put to them. I am more at the “what the f#ck do I do now” phase…

There is a lot of career crap on the internet – but it is exactly that – crap…

Anyone got some good links?????

So I am looking for information on careers and foudn "dont post naked pictures of yourself on the internet at work " (which is here http://blog.penelopetrunk.com/2006/09/09/dont-post-naked-photos-of-yourself-from-work-duh/ for those who are interested...) and I ended up at this...http://bloggasm.com/you-chances-of-getting-laid-through-craigslist-a-bloggasm-case-study

Your chances of getting laid through Craigslist:
A Bloggasm case study
August 26, 2006 at 2:20 am ·
Filed under General, sex, bloggasm case study

Premise: I was surfing through the job listings at Craigslist, and inevitably wandered my way into the personals section, and became instantly fascinated with all the posts. I eventually made my way into the “Sex with no strings attached” section, and immediately wondered: Could this be real? Is it really this easy to get laid by simply logging in and making a post, when so many other people out there have to struggle to get laid the normal way? It didn’t take long to realize that for every female who posted, there were anywhere from ten to twenty males posting, and several of the posts mentioned that half the girls who posted were just spammers, which led me to believe that the ratio was even greater than that. So with this curiosity in mind, I set out to find out how hard it was to get laid using Craigslist, or rather, how many people actually responded to the “No strings attached” ads.

Methods of experimentation: I picked three cities: New York, Chicago, and Houston, and posted ads to each city, using different email addresses for each ad. For each city I posted four ads: One pretending to be a straight female looking for sex with a male, another one as a straight male looking for sex with a female, another as a bicurious male looking for sex with another male, and one as a bisexual female looking for sex with another female. I said basically the same thing in each ad and didn’t include a pic or much personal information, except that I had just moved into the city. I then sat back and let the emails build up in the inbox, and then went through every single one to assess the results, which are as follows.

Results: Here are the stats on how many people responded to each person.

New York:

Straight female looking to have sex with a male: 165 responses

Straight male looking to have sex with a female: 0 responses

Bi-curious male looking to have sex with a male: 9 responses

Bisexual female looking to have sex with a female: 2 responses

Chicago:

Straight female looking to have sex with a male: 200 responses

Straight male looking to have sex with a female: 0 responses

Bi-curious male looking to have sex with a male: 6 responses

Bisexual female looking to have sex with a female: 2 responses

Houston:

Straight female looking to have sex with a male: 54 responses

Straight male looking to have sex with a female: 1 response

Bi-curious male looking to have sex with a male: 10 responses

Bisexual female looking to have sex with a female: 1 response

Interesting observations:

1. For the New York and Chicago postings where I pretended to be a straight female looking for a male, I had over twenty emails after only three or four minutes of posting. The rate of emails slowed down as the day went on when the post got pushed further and further down on the page.

2. I was overwhelmed with how many straight males simply included pictures of their penises and nothing else. Were they really expecting that a girl would see a picture of their penis and exclaim “That’s the guy for me!”?

3. Some men wrote really short, one-lined notes, while others gave entire biographies of themselves. One guy included a 2,000-word erotica short story to “get [her] in the mood.”

4. Many men included their full name and face pics, and it wasn’t hard to find most of them using Google.

5. Two of the men who responded were aides to Congressmen and bragged about it in their emails. Other people told me their professions.

6. Several men admitted that they were married or in a relationship and were looking to cheat on their significant others.

7. Home phone numbers were often included in the emails.

8. Some men tried to impress the girl with how witty they were, I guess as an attempt to stand out in the crowd.

9. If you haven’t gotten the point yet, most of the people gave away an ungodly amount of personal info away to an anonymous person on the internet.

10. The post from the straight male looking for a female got spammed the most by people trying to advertise their dating websites and webcams.

11. Many of the people who answered the ad for the bi-curious man claimed to be straight, which means that a lot of bi-curious males are surfing through craigslist to have their first experiences.

12. Most the responders were between twenty and forty years-old.

Conclusions/advice:

1.The first thing that always came to my mind was the fact that if a really malicious person wanted to get on craigslist and ruin a lot of people’s lives, he easily could. I had so much personal information and so many pictures of so many people, that I could have posted their names and pictures alongside their messages online somewhere and have their most treasured secrets available to anyone who google searched their names.

2. It’s almost impossible for a straight male to find anonymous sex through craigslist. At least when he has a post that doesn’t include his picture. Out of all the ads put out by straight males, there was only one woman who responded. Also, whenever you respond to a female’s ad, you are normally competing with anywhere from 100 to 200 other males.

3. Lesbian/bi females, gay/bi males, and straight females should have no problem getting laid through craigslist.

4. My advice for straight males is to perhaps try answering ads in other personal sections, including the “friends-only” section and the “relationship” section. Many of the female ads there indicated they were only interested in light dating, not a serious relationship, so my guess is that a few of those people could lead to some casual sex after a date or two. This based purely on speculation. But as a side experiment, I filled out a few ads pretending to be a straight female inside the “dating” section, and they got far fewer responders than in the “no strings attached section,” meaning a lot less competition. In my limited experience, girls are just as horny as men, they’re just less likely to meet anonymously some stranger they’ve never met so they can have sex.

5. Or here’s even better advice for straight males: don’t get laid through craigslist. I’m all for the internet and the doors it opens, but c’mon, guys have managed to get laid for thousands of years, and so have our evolutionary ancestors. It won’t kill you to actually put some effort into the task at hand and actually meet people on your own. There were times when I really felt ashamed to be a straight male. I mean, I can understand the allure of the whole thing, but there’s nothing like staring at 200 emails from horny men that allows you to understand how dismal the male gender really is. This must be why so many males think that honking your horn at a lady while you’re flying by her at thirty miles an hour is a legitimate way of hitting on her.

Flaws in my experiment:

1. This experiment didn’t really measure how hard it is to get laid through craigslist, only how hard it is to get people to respond to you. Getting them to meet you is probably another battle on its own.

2. I didn’t exactly create a representative sample: Houston, Chicago, and New York. All three are major cities, and the results might have been slightly different if I’d posted in less-crowded areas from different parts of the country. But I only gave myself a week to put this together, and between creating all the different email addresses, and then all the different personal ads, and then collecting and sifting through all the data, it was very time consuming and I only had time for three cities.

Final notes: Thanks to everyone who unknowingly participated. I’m sorry that I wasn’t the person who I pretended to be and you were a guinea pig for my experiment. If anything, hopefully you’re now more aware of the situation and can use the results from this experiment to increase your chances of getting laid through craigslist. Be sure to tune in next Friday for a new Bloggasm case study.

UPDATE: This post got a lot of reader feedback, which I posted over here

ANOTHER UPDATE: In the past few days, several journalists have contacted me asking for interviews, for both my Craigslist experiment and my post on facebook’s controversy. If you’d like an interview, contact me at Simon.bloggasm@gmail.com

We can set up either a phone or email interview through there

deeeeeep in the tribe jungle there is the occasional sighting of a species known as the 'Melbournian'. Evidence of there existance is plentiful, but only very very rarely are they sited. Why is it so I ask? WHY IS IT SO!?? Such a human tragedy!!! Not even able to be enticed out with the promise of nude pics or the woft of beer, it leaves me wondering WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO?? How does one get these shy little Melbournians to come out and play??? (No im not gona post nude pics Sandy Crotch or Magpi!)

Hi Guys,

Sorry I haven't been around much. Will make sure I come in here more often.

I hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely spring weather. I went to Bonnie Doon on Monday (yes, I know I do need to get a life), anyhow, driving to Mansfield went over the bridge where the water used to be. There is a little creek that runs under the massive bridge, trees are growing all round the creek and on the bottom of the weir, they have made "proper" dirt roads that run in the bottom of the weir now too. Am guessing that the powers that be think that it will be a while until Eildon fills to capacity again. Next time I am up there I will take a photo, it is kind of cool but very sad too.
