    I am immensely gratified. A nice triumph is just the thing, just now. Delicious.

    Thanks to Kate, if I hadn't followed her into this tent I wouldn't be here now, plus I just like her. Thanks also to Mark, Michael, Dusty and Tumewa for their kindness. And thanks of course to Elliot and the staff of Tribe, who are of course giving me the money. Tribe is good. I thought so before, too.

    Now to topple e-commerce empires with my booty. Bwaaaah-haaaah-haaaahhhhh.

    Two weeks ago I had emailed Than and told him I fully expected to see his icon on the masthead. I do think despite all the great entries that no entry fit with the existing icons better while conveying a certain energy. So, congratulations, Than.

    A good, solid choice. The contest was a good idea, yielding some fantastic entries and a lot of positive energy directed at co-creating a Tribe that we all love. Kudos on that. I look forward to seeing Than's icon in place soon..!

      .... so as to not put a nice "low Fat" sticker on the can of spam....

      from a branding perspective, that'll be the thing to do.... 100 bucks a pop s'not a bad deal if Than's chill.

        ewww i hated that one to busy for such a small icon, but then again tribe isnt known for is wise design choices :(

      I hate to appear modest, as those who know me will confirm, but a full set icon replacement would have to go to Mark's design. Sure, I could use the cash, but it's a cleaner look, it's beautiful, and the vast majority of Tribe prefer it.

        LOL... this is precisely where design + democracy don't mix. (design by committee)

        The idea of comissioning the design of a single part of a whole system is precisely what has gotten the American Automotive industry in big shit.
        (I'm surprissed that, with his pedegree, Jan does not make the connection)

        Why give us a Pontiac of a website and then comission the redesign of the door handles to an outsourced tallent when you could have top notch design team within your company and give us more of a Mini or at least a Honda or a Smart car?

        You already have some great functionality, why not go all the way? How expensive can it be to hire a 'real' designer (SF is awash in them!). Instead you continue the tradition of the focus group approach!
        How painful can it be (to your budget) to just hire a Than or a Mark and let them grab the bull by the horns and put out a coherent, holistic solution to this mess? It's not fashism, it is vision in motion.

        Congratulations! Very gracious of you. But I think I'm with the minority in regards to the second place winner. It's a clean look to be sure, but too minimal for my tastes. I'm glad you won.

      Yeah, I was curious about that timeline too. I know the staff was recently reduced, so I can understand a delay or two. Any timelines you can share with us? Even tenative ones?
