<div>I think the left, or cal it the Peace Movement if you wish, missed a grand opportunity to grow a meme during the 50's, 60's, on upthrough 1990. Maybe it's not too late, but still , what a shame. Here it is: <br/> <br/>rather than preaching nuclear disarmament and relenquishing military maters altogether, what should have been focused on was the "Military/Industrial complex." Heck, the phrase was coined by a Republican President and former general, no less, so how could the Right have dismissed us with their usual tactic of labelling us communists? Joe Public would have become aware of the connection between his paycheck, and taxes to fuel the military industrial complex. INSTEAD, he walked around talking about "damn hippies" and the foolishness of "Pinko" Pacifists. So we lost. Nixon got re-elected by the "silent majority" which was weirded out by the anti-war movement more than impressed by it. Reagan won twice. Bush once and his boy twice. <br/> <br/>Yup, had the Left incessantly preached that 2 word term, the world would be different.
