a "retreat' into the heart of the San Francisco tribal fusion bellydance scene, tribe, music and culture.

Come immerse yourselves in the music, culture, asthetic, and scene that is shaping the tribal fusion bellydance explosion worldwide.
Experience where it all began. And come see and feel how it inspires YOU!
This is not a festival. This is an intensive, or immersion rather. An intimate group where you'll get individual attention, top notch dance training, and a rich community experience over extended days together.
3 (or 5) incredible days of dance technique and training from some of the pioneers who have shaped the style. and meet the musicians too!
Music is what shapes a culture, and we got some of the hottest talent who are creating the tunes that are shaping the evolution of tribal fusion.
Workshops on Creating choreography; exploring Fusion; Creating your own Asthetic and Costuming, Core Integration Yoga specifically for Bellydance, Exclusive vending by some of the Bay area's hottest designers, and of course lots and lots of dancing!!
Night time events at our beloved 'special' spots, and performances from some of your favorites, both within the bellydance world, and beyond...

Come to our recording session Sunday afternoon

Hey everyone-- the Brass Menagerie is gonna do a live recording at Amnesia, this Sunday, April 2, from 12-4. We wanna invite some friends to come rock out with us. We don't wanna pack the place or anything, but having 30ish people dancin would be hecka fun. We'll be recording, so we'll probably go back & repeat some things, but we'll also try to keep the energy moving fer ya.

I finally made a dedicated website for the Brass Menagerie: <http://brass.menazeri.com>. It still has issues with that broken web browser, Internet Explorer (PC version), but it works great in all working browsers (like firefox: <http://www.getfirefox.com>).

Chris Bajmakovic (accordion) and Petar Vodenov (clarinet)
Rumen Shopov hails from Gotse Delchev. An astonishing master of the tambura (long necked mandolin), bouzouki, and an accomplished drummer and vocalist as well, Rumen was the concertmaster of the Nevrokopski Folk Ensemble, Bulgaria's first national folk ensemble, for more than 20 years. He was also lead member of two of the Pirin region's hottest bands: "Shturo Make" and "Orkestar Orbita.". Now residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, he has assembled a band that captures and showcases the sparkling fretwork, incendiary rhythms, and expressive soul of his native Bulgarian/Turkish-Romani musical tradition.
