Re: Help save the last remaining Coast Redwoods
Thu, September 6, 2007 - 7:57 PMMay I also suggest consortiums of private purchasers, spread the word to other forums, blogs etc…that you can be also putting your money into private land purchases. i.e. like the Save the Redwoods foundation? You can buy entire groves and dedicate them as you wish. I know everyone really would like to see someone else take the initiative, or other peoples money.. but that is what I plan to do in about 10 years (buy an honor grove). Buy a patch for dedication. I actually am part of that organization, and I watch what percentage of my funds go toward administrative costs vs. land purchasing.
Yes, it costs money, but if people spent as much money as they do on peripherals, star bucks, coffee shops, entertainment, CD's, entertainment.. (I had a friend spend quite a bit on burning man, almost $1500. and that didn’t help one redwood in Humboldt County!).....a little money can go a long way. I wish I could convince people to look at their own purchases through the year to see where their money is really going.
By the way..I signed the petition as well!, and love Avalonrisen merchandise!
