Today my household is in final prep for the annual Druid Gathering ( rdg.mithrilstar.org/2007wcdruidgat.htm) here in the Redwoods. For many, this is their occasional chance to "live the Pagan lifestyle" for a few days out of the year. It's a chance to meet and greet old friends, to run around naked in the woods, to wine and dine nature spirits, learn a new magickal skill, hookup with a new (or old) lover, and mostly, just commune with the magnificent Redwoods.
Others, like myself, aren't satisfied with just living the life a few days out of the year. So we have two choices: we can travel to other Pagan festivals throughout the summer, or, we can attempt to build the lifestyle where we live. That's what we are doing here: mithrilstar.org/imladris and we call this "Dryad's Realm." Like Harbin and Breitenbrush (sp?), "Dryad's realm" will be a New Age resort and teaching center, run by an intentional community.
For now though, I need to concentrate on the Gathering this Friday, and so I bid you adieu to do just that. :)

Re: Off to the Druid Gathering
Mon, August 6, 2007 - 11:42 PMAs it turns out, a good time was had by all! We had about 25 adults in attendance, most from our local Pagan community (we're thinking that next year we'll rename the thing. The only Druids in attendance were a handful from our local Grove and two more from our sister Grove in So.Oregon, so maybe 8 total. The rest were local witches, ceremonialists, generic Pagans etc..).
But.... the bardic circle Friday night went very well, with musicians and belly dancers in attendance. The labyrinth building workshop was a huge hit (and I wonder what the Rangers thought after we left?); we learned quite a bit from the essential oils workshop, and the healing ceremony (with five Reiki masters presiding) went really well. Our Lughnasadh water sharing was of course the highlight of Saturday. That evening Anwyn and George Leverette blessed us with about an hour long harp concert by firelight (see avalonrisen.mithrilstar.org/geor...n.htm ). I swear we saw faeries! They returned the following morning a led us in a harp workshop, before we broke camp and said our goodbyes for this year.
I think it was a success!
