Does it make any difference to you around purchasing stones minerals shells etc that you know are being exhausted through over harvesting?
I like to know which stones trees etc are on the scarce list...I also hope we can help protect them by bringing knowledge to people about which things are...so we can become more mindful...
The one thing I have heard about is red coral..though it is lovely..Iam hesitant to buy any...though I have a small natural piece from many years ago...the pieces they find are few and far inbetween thats why they get paid alot for what they do find...
Sad thing is those who need to survive will take and take from the precious stores to keep their family alive...thing is they get the least for it compared to the buyers who will then retail it...

Re: list of exhausted minerals...
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 9:52 PMyou have brought up a very good point glistenz......thank you, i think it would be really good for as many of us to spread the word about sustainable mining practices and make a difference by requesting sustainable crystals when we talk with dealers. the more demand there is for crystals that are harvested in a sustainable, loving way, the more dealers will seek out those types of crystals. i am most concerned with the mining conditions for the workers, and uncontrolled sediment contamination of the land. here are a couple of websites that i ran across........i think the most concerning are the mining of gold and diamonds.

Re: list of exhausted minerals...
Wed, May 14, 2008 - 5:01 PMgood point bo. i have recently heard about how the copper mining in peru is contaminating many areas. i have a feeling all the beautiful blue covellite from peru is found in these copper mines, since they form together. i need to investigate more, but i would suggest people may want to look elsewhere for this one. i have a nice iridescent piece from colorado, but i have heard they do not find it there very much these days.
