Halo - I can do 15,16,29,30 May. As long as I don't end up with a job that has me working abroad or something, consider me in. Possibly consider me in, even if I do get a contract abroad.

Bruce - Regarding venue: Note the first post that started this very thread.

            So,
Basically we are waiting on John to confirm, no real issues to speak of just needs to be in front of the calender b4 saying yes. The 16th feels like the date though.

            - So Kurt since you since you are intoducing the night, I want lounge versions of songs like: I like big butts, closer, wayne newton, barry manilow, tom jones, you know the feel. There is a guy who does entire albumns of lounge covers who is hilarious! I think there is even a lounge version of Jesus Freak out there.
            - bITCH sOUP- Change your name to ATTENTION WHORES, and decide if you just want to do can-can lines, or if you want to do "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher or If you want to do "Mother" by Danzig. Either way bring feathers and cleavage.
-JR - Is totally on top of bringing a Poker table, Craps table, and Black Jack.
-m4 - Is just going to be m4, I am going to ask if they can play "Viva Las Vegas" by Elvis
-Carl- You are Elvis, you already understand this subconsciously I know, I can feel you reading my thoughts. That doesn't mean play all elvis tunes, It means hip shaking, arm swingin', shade wearing, sequin outfit.( and if you were eating fried chicken during your set that would help) Throw in a few "Thank You, thank you very much" after a few songs.
            - I need a cigarette girl: I think someone already volunteered, but I forgot who it was.
--Other Ideas- Comedian- I approached Daniel Flynn about doing a short comedy sketch,
lounge singers- spirit monkey and dru are perfect(maybe a brat pack session?)
so this would mean Hydrive would be the host band and have to learn 2-3 songs possibly, Is that comfy w/ them Keri?
            - I think a short appearance by Kazoom will be in order as well
---- Also, we have to get a spotlight for this, I saw one at the Bossanova, we need to find out if it works, and someone to run the damn thing .
---- One cabaret act?, but not the stripped down version, like a tiger tamer that tames tigers w/ sparklers, something "Vegassy-ish"

            - Tiffany is my 2nd

PS- bITCH sOUP, i was just kidding about the name change, but if you were inspired by one those ideas it would be funny

                halo--

richard cheese. lounge versions of all kinds of crazy shit--NIN and rage against the machine are my favorites.

bitch soup is on it. i think you'll probably like our plan for vegas action. i'll run it by you when we nail it down a little more. cleavage and feathers really shouldn't be a huge problem.

iris is totes jonesing to be a cigarette girl if'n you need one.

let's talk about how you see hydrive functioning for the night but a couple, three songs theoretically shouldn't be a problem, i think....

Might as well just get Storm and the Balls to do all their lounge covers.... Kidding.
However! I have a bossanova Queen CD and a bossanova Guns-N-Roses CD that have been itching to get some play. And of course Richard Cheese, and I'll just buy Storm's CD since we have not engulfed her in the GrooveBomb fold........... yet...... muahahahaha

                holy good lord,
the soup nearly ramrodded this here stream. funny stuff, there's been enough said and we are discussing the music amongst ourselves but I guarantee the likes of the hot tub happenings would make you squirm boys. mmhhmmm...

Welp, I have sadly been unable to log onto to tribe much and am just getting somethings worked out with the admin to make that stop.
I thought we were going to do most Bomb planning on the Ning site...? SO - this conversation snuck up on me.
(as a reminder, this is a public tribe and all things planning wise are trackable by just about anyone)
luckily, mostly, only the the soups drinking needs have been discussed ;> which is just fine with me. oh, um scotch is my flavor ...

Anyway, it all sounds jim dandy and i am pretty sure the bus will take a fundraiser how and when ever it can get it - however,

the last time I talked to Andy, he expressed that he might want to have a fundraiser out on private property, so that fire can be made in sizes the marshall can't regulate nor shut us down for. A big focus of these fundraisers in years past has been fire, and lots of it. Hence the friendly fire brand. There is no way to do any kind of fire at Bossa Nova....just saying - and in addition the bus is sort of left outside in the cold, downstairs...that is why we ahve not used that venue int he past.
venuewise we have tried to find places where the bus could be integrated into the party more, as it is the focus. It has the capacity to be such a cool stage - it seems to me the fundraiser should happen someplace where it can be featured prominently in all it's grandeur.
But hell, good venues are hard to find, how well do I know! Still, I think it is worth exploring this...
Andy had also mentioned trying to incorporate happy's double decker bus if possible, to raise awareness about his efforts as well.

Overall though, sounds like a great show - love the vegas idea, music lineup is the obvious one for the bus ;).
we started using the cigarette girl thing back at Spectral Monkey and have carried it through many of our events, it is super fun, and a great way to make merchandise available to be sold throughout the crowd...I would suggest 3 for a 1000 person venue and I know how to make the cigarette boxes.
and certainly showgirls would be in order. costume shop on hawthorne I wonder ???
OMG, Carl, you were born to MC a vegas style show.

Welp, hopefully I will be able to log in again sometime soon...

Sija brings up some points here. I'd love to see the Friendly Fire brand come back and take its place as the turbo bitchin fire centric fundraiser for the MGB...but that ain't gonna happen at bossanova unless video of past events and glow poi are on the menu. I also agree that bossa doesn't give us much of an opportunity to intergrate the bomb except as a coach for oursleves to an afterparty.

So we should decide on whether this is time/place/event for that brand, and if it ain't what are we callin' this here love-in?

also, yes...is it time to take this convo over to the ning? whatcha think? I need strategy time with halo and many of ya that ain't gonna happen here.

agreed - Sija makes some good points, as does Mischeif...
thanks so much to Halo for getting the ball rolling for this event!

my 2 cents is that Vegas is getting some serious momentum behind it and is forming to become quite the event - but it does not feel to me like Friendly Fire... Friendly Fire is more of a outdoor, come as you are... fire fire fire extravaganza event, with busses and bbq... This by no means says that the Vegas event should try and be that - I think we need multiple fundraisers. I have been seriously considering getting the ball rolling for a Friendly Fire event and find an appropriate venue and date soon... Lets perhaps begin discussing when and where we might make Friendly Fire happen! Perhaps a day in March or April would work well...

*hanging head in shame*... I have been slacking on getting the meeting notes up on ning - every day I am like "ooo gotta do that!!" I also have a whole lot of dates to post as well... for example, July weekends are almost completely booked with weddings!!!!
Planning on spending some time this evening with my laptop at the Watershed updating Ning....

I will be posting here when I finish up posting meeting notes and updating the calendar there to help drive people to Ning.....

thanks so much everyone - really appreciate the energy here...
