Re: Call for donations to keep the bus grooving
Thu, April 16, 2009 - 10:16 AMThe Mobile Groove Bomb in an expensive endeavor that is headed by a team of volunteers who do maintenance, safety, upkeep, design, create events, drive and donate time not only to the Groove Bomb but to many other organizations. Yes, there are paying gigs that help with some of the expense, but because so much of what the Bus is involved in is at a volunteer level or for a fee that just covers the the price of gas, She needs more money. Just the basics for an oil change for the bus is over $300. then there is gas, insurance, new tires, safety equipment, paint jobs so she doesn't rust out., and, and. and...
Over the years the MGB has helped Roller Derby girls celebrate their wins, offered first thursday art tours for free to the public helping span the westside, eastside divide, offered rides and hot cocoa to all cold souls on portland snow days, she makes an annual appearance at the Red Dress Party where all proceeds from the night are donated to charity and she appeared last year as a float in the Seattle Gay Pride Parade.
You want more? So do we, but we need funds to make it happen... -

Re: Call for donations to keep the bus grooving
Tue, April 21, 2009 - 11:13 PMI really think there are local groups who would help offset financial needs by holding some gigs. Just need some structure and insurance coverage that you could charge via prepay events.
