    I already have a couple of suggestions that I would like to bring up here in the thread to get peoples' cogs turning.

    How about participating in a couple of local ecosystem restoration projects around town?

    Metro always needs volunteers for their native plant center: parties to go up and harvest seed, parties to sort and sow native plant seeds, parties to plant native plants in local parks and other greenspaces.

    The Clackamas River Basin Council is organizing some tree planting events this month. I'll bring more info to the meeting, but the time crunch may be on us if anyone else wants to play that game ;-}

    Last year, I took part in the Down the River Clean-Up, a nonprofit event that had the participation of such organizations as Metro, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue, Clackamas County Sheriff and Fire, Next Adventure, Andy and Bax, NRS, Noah's bagels... huge list. The whole deal was to float (rafts, kayaks, canoes, tubes) down the clackamas and collect garbage. We had a great time, there was a lot of fun community support, I got to whitewater kayak with some great little kids about 8-12 years old! They always need people to run shuttle and just general transport and cameraderie!

    Thanks for making the Groove Bomb a beloved member of our awesome community!

    I'm not a GrooveBomber but I have friends who are musicians and do all this silly stuff, like parades, and playing in them, etc. Would some of these groups PAY your bus to let them play atop it, or in it, at say Starlight, or something? Fundraiser?

    Also, have you considered hosting wine tours with friends? Techno and wine, charge for it, and put the money toward your cause of choice? I know, it sounds so bourgeouis, but it's viable income, if that's of interest.

    I think a lot of people in Portland embrace the 'wierd' concept and would find what we consider mainstream a little quirky. They could pay you big green to do a night's worth of work, without your feeling like you sold the soul of your bus, and finance the projects you want.

    I sound like a capitalist pig, but anyway.... In between the eco-efforts, burn parties, etc., a little mobile money wouldn't hurt.

    I have a box of bus parts to donate, as well as (if wanted) new fresh & waste water tanks for bus. Parts were for a MGB sibling - same year, make & model!

    I'll try to figure out what they are, to see if they're even needed or not, but I seem to recall that there may be a jack-screw..... :-) (hoping anyhow)

    Cheers!

    Were there minutes/notes taken? I wasn't able to be there but am curious what direction the Groove Bomb is headed.

      yes, the meetings were great, we will be posting the list of MGB projects and fundraising ideas and some events of interest posted on the MGB Ning site, and I will include a link here to that site.

      We are encouraging anyone that wants to be involved, sign up with Ning, since it offers some additional features that tribe does not offer, but we are having some issues with email notifications on the site at the time, but will be following up on that this week.

      www.mobilegroovebomb.ning.com

      In a nutshell, we are hoping to spend some of the energy this year making practical improvements to the bus and the local community. The meeting focused mostly on projects, prioritizing those projects, finding out who has resources or contributions to the projects, as well as fundraising/event ideas for this upcoming year and building out a calendar.

      There will be follow up meeting to this one next month to work out next steps and perhaps kick off some of the projects and lock down some dates for the year...
