The Fire Dolls are presenting a Tribal Night at the North Star Brewery in Shasta Lake City on September 30th. The show is from 7-10 and we are inviting local dancers to participate. If you have a Tribal or alternative, fusion routine, we are looking to showcase alternate modes of belly dance at this event. Admission for your friends and family is $10.00 which includes food (tabouli, hummus, pita, light snacks) and two or three (not sure yet) drinks. Northstar makes great handcrafted beer. Deeta that was the single greatest solo performance I've ever seen in all my years of bellydancedom. The people sitting around us were all reveling in delight while watching you and saying things like "oh my god, how does she do that, awesome, no way!" The way you mimicked the drum beat was fantastic.

We really enjoyed the show. I think the whole crowd was thoroughly entertained.

No, seriously. You guys all kick so much ass it's not even funny. I got my multiple-performance video yesterday (thank you Deeta!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and stayed up until midnight after dance class watching it. It was amazing!!!

The elephant dance was so freakin' cool! The music couldn't have been more perfect. No wonder that bellydance review girl liked you girls best.

Jeanie and Nicole - major bonus points for dancing to one of my favorite Fatboy Slim songs!! That dance kicked ass; you two were so funny.

Heather - great solo! Your first, right? Your pops, locks and layers were really cleanly executed.

And THRILLER!!!! Oh my god, you guys are brilliant. Simply freakin' brilliant.

Y'all just need to move up to Oregon so I can jam with you guys again! I love the dance community up here but you girls would just rock their sox off!

The 2007 Bellydance Extravaganza was incredibly fine! I feel that it isn't going to stop here with one big show as it was the most wonderful entertainment I have seen in a long time. All the ladies of each tribe were fantastic and the variety of the performances kept your eyes on the stage while the costumes wow the audience! I can't say enough to how much I enjoyed myself and I want to give special thanks to my best friend Penny for inviting me. You guys are doing a great job and I will not be surprised when I see your troupe performing on national television.

Awesome dance video

I don't know exactly who or where she is, but I found this video on a LiveJournal bellydance community and I was WOWED. Her isolations and hipwork were great, posture nearly perfect, and I'm totally jealous of her stage presence (this coming from someone who just needs to STOP LOOKING DOWN!!!). Plus... that skirt is freakin' awesome. I want one!

Party this week

Well, I’ve been wanting to have a get-together at my new house. I know it’s short notice, but I’m going to do it this Friday at 7:00 p.m. (that is the 27th of May). Thank you, Nicole, for prodding me along every day until I finally just planned it!

Very informal – I would just like to have all of my friends “bless” my home. I’ll make something to eat (I have no idea what yet) and I’ll have some beer & wine, but feel free to bring a appetizer or side dish (hey, a bag of chips works) and/or drink.

Camera sabotaged at Lulu's...

Went to load about 200 pictures from the performance last night and to my surprise the picture card was empty! I was really proud of some of the shots too. The last show I forgot the card all together. This time someone formatted the card after about 11pm. How's that for luck? Had some pretty provocative shots too. Maybe that's why! Next time we will secure the camera from prying hands.

Friday night with Pangia, and all the incredible dancers, then the Saturday workshop with Sandra, then another night of amazing dancers - topped off with watching Sandra perform (and I'm sure the drum workshop was great, too). What a wonderful weekend.

I am a "tiny" bit sore from Sandra's workshop, though.
