dear butterflies:
well hello there, i'm magdalen (tiffany), i'm bipolar I, and i've decided to try to get pregnant.
i take Depakote and will be meeting with a psychiatrist next week to talk about other options.
so in general, what advice would you give a fellow bipolar in this situation? is it worth it? are we too crazy to reproduce? is it scary going off meds for pregnancy? did any of you stay on meds during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Re: Pregnancy, Parenting, & Bipolar Disorder
Thu, February 1, 2007 - 7:43 PMI was on Depakote for a short time...made me sick. I was then switched to Lamictal for a while. I quit cold turkey upon finding out I was expecting. Pregnancy actually did me well. After some internet searching on meds and pregnancy I made the decsision that no meds by far were the way for me to go.
Congrats and Good Luck!!!
