Hi Isis and all, I have North node in Sagittarius in the 11th house and South node in Gemini in the 3rd. They square Neptune in Virgo in the 8th. My first son was born with his Pisces Sun exactly opposite Neptune.

If you go to astro.com and get a free chart, it will indicate your north node with a symbol that looks like the Leo glyph. It's sometimes called the true node. You south node is basically the exact opposite of that.
        Good luck.

        Peace, Bo

I'm Zane, and I have the N.Node at 13 Pisces 13 conjunct the Ascendant at 15 Pisces 10 (and we can throw in Ceres at 15 Pisces 10 as well.)

What degree are yours, Isis? Since I have Sun 26 Gemini, Mercury 17 Gemini, Mars 19 Gemini, Moon 7 Sag, and MC 22 Sag, the odds seem pretty good that at least one of my planets falls on your nodes.

    Hello all,
My name is Thijs, I am from The Netherlands.

    As for my Moon Nodes:
Northnode: Scorpio in the 8th house
Southnode: Taurus in the 2nd house

I do not think I have any real conjuncts with my nodes:

Though I read that something also constitutes "a conjunct" when it is either in the same Sign or House.

    In that case:
North Node is "conjunct" Uranus, Moon and Pluto, which are all in the 8th house and Uranus even in Scorpio.

    and

South Node is "conjunct" Jupiter and Mercury which are both in the sign of Taurus.

The descriptions of these so called Conjuncts do match up with my personality.

Other than knowing where the Moon's Nodes are, what was the purpose for starting this thread?

I for one would love to know how one can "match and blend" the energies of the Opposition that the Nodes form to eachother, because I am not a believer of the theory of throwing the South Node out the window because these traits became stuffy, and just going for everything the North Node is about.

I use Astrology mostly to see in what relation the different 'aspects' (by example: Mars (Drive) opposition Aquarius Ascendant (Self Image) of 'my personality' are in, and how I can blend these to feel a more balanced type of energy and through that way, grow as a person.

What is it in Astrology that the rest of you are interested in?

and last but not least: Nice to meet you all ! :)

          5th house libra north node
so I guess that means 11th house aries south node
although I'm confused as to why planets can be in the same sign and different houses.

The descrip on this one does match me
I hate asking for directions or admiting that I can't do things alone and independently.

I like astrology bc as an adolescent in the midst of family crisis and loss it helped me understand my cancerian mother esp. and see things in a better light.

I think it has been very healing for me to have access to astrological information.

When I read about my node I felt somewhat exposed but it has given me a starting point to work from...

          Thanks for the tribe!

              Hi Earthly LN and welcome!
Hi Marcia, wow, maybe I have a few things to learn from you as your sun is on my NN. So you must be experiencing Pluto conjunct sun at the moment. And Zane must be experiencing sun opposite pluto. I have pluto conjunct NN, which is activating a kite in my chart at the moment.
              Good to meet you!

In very short, the North Node in Libra, South Node in Aries means something along the line of: From I to We. From individualist to groupminded. The fifth house is the house of Children, romance and love affairs, Ego, creative expression, play and gambling, attitude to change.

As to why planets can be in the same sign and different houses. The Ecliptic (this is the whole of the circle that is used for the horoscope) is divided in 12 equal parts that are asigned to each the signs (Cancer, Libra, etc...) because these are based on static (as in their position to Earth) Star Clusters. Each of these divisions is precisely 30 degrees, since the whole circle is 360 degrees.

For calculating the houses, there are multiple systems. The most often used is the Placidus system. In this system, the Ascendant is first determined, based on the time of birth. Then the descendant (opposite the Ascendant) is determined. Then the Nadir / Midheaven are determined. In this way, the circle is divided in 4 parts. Each of these parts gets divided in three.

In short, because these houses are not each 30 degrees wide, and the signs Are all 30 degrees wide, a planet can be only be in one sign, but there can be multiple signs in one house, because a house can be wider but also smaller than 30 degrees.

I am not precisely clear on how each house is divided in three, because this division is made based on the system used, as described above, and I don't know how precisely each system defines its houses.

I hope this can somewhat clearify how planets can be in the same sign, but a sign can have multiple houses.

A lot of Scorpio Northnode, Southnode Taurus indeed.

Interesting that these people would all find themselves in a Tribe Group like this one.
One would almost say it was for a reason :))

I for one, do not have the slightest idea how I am ever going to make the Taurus to Scorpio transition, other than the fact I have a lot to learn from Scorpio people.

One aspect of this is that I have to learn how to deal with emotions and emotional people in a good and constructive way, though I mostly seem get into arguments with them over 'in what way a message comes across and what feeling they get with it.'
This emotion with the message is something I usually do not pay too much attention too, or most often simply ignore, cause I find the information in a message more important than the 'emotion' that was communicated with it.

I have a few friends who have the opposite, and are going from scorpio to taurus!
From the depths of the water to the land..
My nodes are in reversed position, coz my ascendant is libra they are in each other's houses which makes things a bit confusing.

The dance of looove, Marcia? Wow! AN explosive kind of dance then, I presume!

So your south node is conjunct my moon (taurus 14), I have moon in the eighth. Opposite Vesta I think, I'm not too familiar with the asteroids, I don't really know their symbols...this symol is like two V's on top of each other and a small sort of v on top - I think that's vesta
                • Moon in 8th house opposition Vesta in Scorpio

                  Sun, August 27, 2006 - 10:27 PM
                  Isis,

I also have Moon in the 8th house, but where yours is in Taurus, mine is Libra in the 8th house (my 8th house has both Libra and Scorpio in it).

If you have your moon in Taurus opposite Vesta, that would place Vesta in Scorpio, same as my North Node.

The explanation for Vesta in Scorpio:
Quote " ...Expresses itself in an intense and penetrating manner. People with this placement seek depth and thoroughness in all their commitments. Sexuality is regarded as a peak experience to be had regardless of existing social taboos. On the other hand, these people may experience feelings of guilt, sin, and shame in sexual affairs which cause them to become sexually repressed or inhibited. Tremendous concentration and dedication are available for creative and spiritual endeavors."

The explanation for Moon opposition Vesta is:
Quote "This person's emotional nature, moods, feelings, and caring tendencies somewhat opposes and creates tension with their capacity to direct creative energy into personal or devotional goals. Balance is needed."

Do these descriptions match you somewhat?

Vesta's symbol resembles a flame on a socket (a hearth).

It seems your chart is almost opposite to mine where the Houses and Signs are concerned.

Sweet talk Pluto, Marcia....? :-) Did you bring Orpheus Lyre with you?

(Orpheus is the one person that was able to sway Hades (the Greek version of Pluto) by means of the music he played on his Lyre to give him back his beloved wife Eurydes from the underworld.)

hmm. hades was a busy guy. didn't he also have persephone with him also?
he must have been quite the god to keep them ....... satisfied
                ;)

but then we all know he's big on passion -
                • Pluto's Love "Life" :))

                  Mon, August 28, 2006 - 5:59 AM
                  Marcia,
Hades indeed had Persephone with him also.
However, Eurydes was not the wife of Hades, she was Orpheus wife, before she was bitten by a very poisonous viper in the field. She died and thus went into the Underworld, like all dead people. Orpheus could not let her go and went searching for her.

And yes, Hades or Pluto is all of Mars' passion to the Nth degree.
Well, you know how death speaks to everybody's imagination. That is just death, and not even a god of death.

        Hi everyone!

I have Scroprio Rising, Aquarius Moon, Taurus Sun, Merc Taurus, Venus Taurus, Mars Leo, Jupiter in Taurus and the all important North Node in in Scorpio in 12th house and Sth node is Taurus in 6th house. This is the difficulty for me as my Sth Node ( habitual self) is reinforced by my Taurus placments and 2 of my Taurus placements are in the 6th house further embedding this south node habitual energy, as my Nth node is my Rising I guess that helps and I do have Neptune in 1st house also.

So for me I have to constantly "let go" and release the habits of my Taurus and 6th house energy.

I know a few people that have the same sun sign and their Sth Node - this seems rather challenging - anyone have any insight on this????

Hi Soseneda, I love your costume!

Thjis, I have made a mistake...my Vesta isn't opposite my moon, it's inconjunct my moon! It's at 16 Libra. It's opposite Chiron though! There's so many things to explore in astrology I am fascinated by all of it..thanks for writing those meanings anyway! :)
      • Moon inconjunct / quincunx Vesta

        Mon, August 28, 2006 - 5:54 AM
        Isis,
So your moon is inconjunct Vesta, this is also called: Moon quincunx Vesta.

The meaning would be as follows:
Quote "Moon quincunx Vesta: The ideals and truth you are dedicated to seem oddly unrelated to your family, friends and other sources of emotional security. Trying to find common ground is frustratingly elusive. This seems like a paradox or riddle in your life. Frequent adjustments must be made in order to find a balance, and even as you do, it can’t be maintained for long. You learn to adapt to the disparity and accept that there is little or no mutual acknowledgement between them."

Is this either visible or felt between you and the rest of your family perhaps?

As for Moon Opposite Chiron the meaning would be:
Your emotional nature, moods, feelings, and caring tendencies always opposes and creates tension with your ability to help, heal, and teach others, and where one has much experience. In this case, balance is needed.

Which might come across as either smothering or being too emotional yourself to make helping, healing or teaching others effective.

Astrology is indeed a very huge playground to explore. I learn more about it myself. Each day I read another new thing about it, or so it seems.

          Thanks Thjis.
Yes, that makes sense to me. With a lot of my family members I feel a big gap as they can't really understand and aren't really interested in the stuff I'm into. Except for my mum, she was the one that introduced me to a lot of it!
But I have lots of friends with similar interests and similar way of thinking.
As for the moon opposing chiron, yes, I do smother others sometimes! And I am very emotional, sometimes I keep myself detached from others as I am so emotional and feel things very deeply.

    Hi everyone!

My name is David and I am a practicing Jyotish or Vedic astrologer. The Nodes have a lot of prominence in Vedic astrology, and their meanings are somewhat different than in Western. Is a Vedic perspective welcome in this tribe?

My sign placements, fortunately, are the same in both tropical and sidereal astrology:

    RAHU, the NORTH NODE: CAPRICORN
    KETU, the SOUTH NODE: CANCER

However, due to differences in chart calculations, in Western astrology my North Node is in my 7th house while in Vedic astrology my North Node is in the 8th.

Look forward to some stimulating conversation and learning new things!

I will share what I know of the Vedic perspective when I get a chance.

    Namaste,
    David Ray
