Hi there,
I was wondering what people think about having your South Node the same as your sun sign. E.g for me I have Taurus Sth Node and Sun Sign also in Taurus, now I also have a lot of Taurus in my chart which includes, Mercury, Venus and Jupiter.
I luckliy have Scorpio Rising which is my Nth Node. Does anyone else have the same sun sign as sth node and what insight do you have on this, do you think it makes it harder to release the patterns of the past?

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 10:36 PMthe downside (particularly for taurus) might be a tendency to rely too heavily or hold too firmly to the familiar. Scorpio n.node calls upon you to scrutinize that which you have the for the sake of transfroming (fixing) that which you may rather have kept safe and secure. -

Wed, September 26, 2007 - 9:44 PMThanks Stevo,
well said if a little obscure towards the end there, I totally get the first part of what you said but I need some clarification on where you say " Scorpio n.node calls upon you to scrutinize that which you have the for the sake of transfroming (fixing) that which you may rather have kept safe and secure"
can you explain that a little bit clearer as I am getting something from what you are saying - just need it a bit clearer.
Thanks :)

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 10:22 PMI've actually wondered a similar thing. My MC is in sag and my north node is in gemini...kind of a paradox -

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Wed, September 19, 2007 - 4:24 AMthough they may have similarities or seem to serve parallel purposes, before you identify the MC too closely w/ the N.Node, consider that MC relates to what we have to give and the N.Node with where we have to get. -

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Wed, September 19, 2007 - 7:58 PMi suppose that makes a lot of sense now, being ruled by neptune, or i dont know if your rising sign planet rules or your sun, everyone is so mixed up on that one. but anyways...pisces (my sun) is co ruled by jupiter ruler of my MC (sag) . i think part of my giving to the world is centered around idealism and non discrimination and inclusion and knowledge of expansion with foreign, new ideas. so i need to get to that place by listening and gathering information. gemini is like the path i need to travel down to learn how to become more balanced. that makes good sense, thanksss. you're a pisces too, huh?
i am new to tribe, and semi new to astrology, i appreciate your feedback :)

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Fri, September 28, 2007 - 11:05 PMI too have same Sun and SN. Both in Libra. It's pretty hard to balance for me.:) I have SN in 4th N.Node Aries 10th. What I find is interesting...not sure it means anything, but My MC is Pisces (dad's sun) and North Node Aries (mom's sun).
For me it has been more difficult expressing the Aries N.Node..I am so much the Libra S. Node. So if that means staying in the past, I am. Until of course I learn "how" to do this.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Sun, December 30, 2007 - 11:10 AMThis is a significant karmic marker, the Sun sign and SN in the same sign.
Indicating that you have been working on Taurus energy for a number of lifetimes.
In this life you are to work on expressing Taurus and Scorpio energy more constructively,
and to develop the positive qualities of Taurus especially.
A Scorpio NN is an intense and important placement. You are to share your unique insights and wisdom with others. In past lives you have been focused on possessions for security. In this life you are to see your inner Self as an important resource, and to share learnings with others in a direct practical and tangible way. It is very important that you avoid power trips with others.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Mon, December 31, 2007 - 7:34 AMWow...that is interesting, as a "karmic marker." Also, I would say that the Taurus/Scorpio polarity is important...and BOTH sides need to be expressed in a positive manner. In a way, it is important to trancend the polarity into a rhythmic celebration of the dance between the two.
In my mind, the Sun with the South Node means that you were somebody in your past life that attracted a lot of attention. Perhaps royalty, or a tribal chief, or someone with that kind of "central" authority, whether "official" or not. In this life, you are called to take that love that you experienced in the past, and beam it out to the world, in an unconditional way. Since North Node is in Scorpio, this could be done in a magickal way or in a Healing way.
Scorpio is not just symbolized by the Scorpion. According to Alan Oken, it is also symbolized by the snake, the eagle, and the dove. I would add to that---the Phoenix. There is a tradition of Alchemy here that I keep seeing. -

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Tue, January 1, 2008 - 8:52 AMJust one more thing: I highly recommend the following book....it has LOTS on the effect of the Nodes and the polarities, and how they are transcended and transmuted:
"The Astrology of Self-Discovery" by Tracy Marks
www.amazon.com/exec/obido...nnerselfcom
Tracy describes some of the lessons of the nodal axis, and then lists a few words each for the categories of concerns, issues, and keywords. The lessons are excellent, and realistically described. Here is one for Taurus-Scorpio:
"Our values, established through Taurus, need to incorporate the awareness of what is really essential, which Scorpio can provide. Scorpio attunes us to that which makes us feel aliveā¦"
Some Taurus-Scorpio issues are stability vs. intensity, accumulation vs. elimination, self-indulgence vs. self-denial, and holding on vs. letting go.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Thu, January 10, 2008 - 11:31 AMI would have to recommend Jan Spillers "Soul Astrology"
I have two best friends both with their Sun conjunct SN and this book helped them understand themselves immernsely. In fact ..after reading her books i have found I think I relate more to my nodal axis more then any other planet or configuration in my chart.... -

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Wed, March 26, 2008 - 3:15 PMHi Anan, I too have Pisces Sun on SN...and an astrologer told me I needed to draw my light from the past.
She taught me a lot (I now do readings myself) and introduced me to an esoteric but really important element to a birthchart that few non-heliocentric astrologers use...Earth in the chart, always calculated directly opposite the Sun. Earth represents our physical body, our matrix, where we are right now, as opposed to our Sun's mirror of our aspirations, dreams, visions and goals. Where the Sun represents our idealized self, our Earth is where we are in this moment...a work in progress, warts and all, breathing, farting, walking, moving etc.
Using Earth in the chart, anyone with Sun/SN conjunction has an Earth/NN conjunction as well. Dropping into one's body, becoming fully grounded in whatever ways work for one, identifying more with our physical and bringing our physical body within divinity and sanctification by releasing all beliefs that it is not that, brings us into balance with the ongoing Solar/SN default pull. Many religions have taught us to rise above the body, to discard it as a shell, to use it, maintain it like a car, treat it as something other than 'us'. What if you could elevate your body to the speed of light through your personal work and through releasing beliefs and judgments that that is not possible, including the belief that all bodies die? Body is meant to be as holy as our spirit. It is every bit as much 'us' as our spirit, our mind, our emotions.
Becoming fully embodied on the planet is our destiny. North Node conjunct Earth...dig it.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 1:49 AMIn Vedic astrology, Ketu the South Node is particularly associated with solar eclipses (even though either Node can be conjunct the New Moon to create a solar eclipse). The South Node is about letting go of the past and our ego attachment to who we think we are. The Sun as a symbol of the self needs us to assert our identity and presence in the world, and so Ketu with the Sun can be particularly challenging. There can be intense lessons about needing to sacrifice your own needs or surrender your own ego for something greater than yourself. Ultimately, it can be a very spiritual combination in the chart. But it's usually difficult in your developmental years when you are trying to figure out who you are.
Also, Ketu close to the Sun means you were probably born near an eclipse. You may want to use astrology software or an ephemeris to see when the nearest eclipse was to when you were born, and read the eclipse chart to gain more insight into its possible effects on your life.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 5:18 PMcool, I did a google search on my birthdate to see if I could find any eclipse info. SN conjuncts my Sun, and NN conjuncts my Moon.
There was a total lunar eclipse that could be viewed in W. Australia.
I never bothered checking into eclipses'. Interesting.

Re: Sun sign same as South Node? Any advice
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 1:04 PMHi, Magneta. I'm wondering if your Sun/nodes are in houses 6/12 or 1/7?
Yes, my angular 6th House Sun is conjunct my SN with a 1-deg orb. The Sun is amplified. It's a power point. Because the ruler of the Sun/SN and descendant (Mercury) is also conjunct the Sun/SN and is the natural ruler of that house, and it all trines my Libra MC (ruled by Venus) and sextiles Venus, it basically emphasizes romance, career and self-actualization in my case. For someone else the Sun may emphasize children or creativity. With the 6th the emphasis is also on health/nutrition/exercize for me.
I've found that my nodal work has to do with keeping these things in balance, and to not forget about myself (more of a Venus/Libra lesson), to find time to do some meditation or something creative, and to give back in some way.
One of the lessons of a NN in the 12th is to learn to go with the flow, and that's what I do with my nodes, to try to let go of control and perfection. Sometimes the NN is emphasized, and at other times the SN is emphasized. It really depends on the transits. I just got over Uranus squaring my nodes and the transiting nodes squaring my nodes. Now Saturn is squaring my nodes. Even with the square one node/house will be emphasized. I feel the goal is to find balance. -

Wed, April 9, 2008 - 4:26 PMHi Magneta!
Sharing this astrological phenomenon all I have to say to the native with this placement is you are where you're coming from and you're moving into differentiation to become the not-I, other.
Peace
