TAURUS NORTH NODE/ SCORPIO SOUTH NODE

[from the book "Karmic Astrology: The Moon's Nodes & Reincarnation" by Martin Schulman]

Here the soul is confronted with some of the most difficult karmic lessons in the zodiac. Past lives have been strewn with endings as the Plutonian force of Scorpio worked through its process of transformation. Now the individual is so frightened by the memory of having the rug constantly pulled out from under their feet that they develop a defensive attitude toward all who offer them regenerative advice. In past incarnations, you literally went through the fires of hell to burn away your false values. Now instead of falling back on the remains of Scorpio still within yourself, you must build, through Taurus, a new set of substantial values to live by.

Nearly all with these nodes have at one time touched the force of Witchcraft, and so in the current life there is a rude awakening about any remaining residue of the lower Self.

In past incarnations, you had to deal with a powerful sex drive which kept throwing you off balance. As a result, you're used to seeking gratification through relationships which ultimately become destructive to the ego. Then, confused and embittered by all that you see toppling around you, you're almost glad to aid in the destruction of whatever little remains.

Most of the conditions in this life are still controlled from your subconscious level, buried deeply below the scrutinizing eyes of society. You may appear jovial and friendly while you're, in fact, planning some mysterious adventure of intrigue inside.

The chart must be studied carefully to see just how far your soul has come out of Scorpio before an accurate interpretation can be given. For those who are already closer to Taurus, the violent churning of Scorpio is purposely avoided at all costs. For those barely out of Scorpio, the internal revolutions are still going on. Planets conjunct either Node will pull the individual toward that Node and literally force them to live through it in their current life.

For all with these Nodes, the past residue of revolution is such powerful intensity that there is bound to be some after-effect spilling over into their present life relationships with family members and close loved ones.

Each day seems to be filled with new emergencies, until one crisis built upon another creates such a turmoil of conflict that the individual is reduced to their most basic struggle for survival. You don't yet know the art of moderation or how to take things at face value for you still believe that others always have an ulterior motive. Inside, you feel that you must constantly escape from punishment, and in your escape you leave behind you a tornado-like shamble of all you once held dear. At times, you see others turning on you but rarely do you stop to see that you are the cause. Whether you're still scting out your past incarnations in Scorpio or advancing through Taurus, your fixed stubborness is very much a part of your ingrained way of doing things.

You will make much growth when you are able to see the actions of others as reflections of your own subconscious!

From past incarnations you've become accustomed to attuning yourself to a peculiar brand of intensity, which when not allowed to express itself, turns to anger. You have become deeply scarred with the pain of being hurt, and now like a wounded animal can be deadly to any who represent the slightest threat. (I find this to be so true!) On the lower levels of consciousness, those with these Nodes can pursue their prey with a personal vendetta. Then when the peices fall, they appear to be the innocent victims while they're, in fact, the carefully planned victors.

Due to the intense emotion constantly seeking expression, a variety of creative outlets are needed.

Sexual desire must be transmuted into Divine Love. All embittering conditions from past incarnations must be dropped from your consciousness until the new seed of peace is discovered. The Scorpio south node must burn the bridges of the past and resolve to benefit from the lessons of Lot's wife: "Never look back!"

Through the Taurus North Node, you must learn not to dissipate or waste power that flows within you in valueless areas. Your greatest achievement in this life occurs when, through the development of a great love of the Earth, you live on. You start to appreciate glimpses of the source of your unfailing supply and support. For lifetimes you have misused your energy, drives and desires, feeling alone against all the oppressions and afflictions that affect mankind. Now through the sensitive impressions of your Taurus North Node, your are to be brought to the awareness that the abundance of the universe is so great that you'll always have what you need when you need it. You must learn to distinguish the difference between the words WANT and NEED, for although you may not always be able to realize what you want, you are surrounded by what you need at every moment.

As you reach for your Taurus North Node, you're reaching, at last, for stability. You can stop chasing all that you've ever felt cheated of by seeing all that is now offered to you. Ultimately, you're destined in this life to reach a state of contentment as the seething volcanoes of Scorpio melt into the blue spirit waters of harmony in Taurus -- where the beloved Gautama Buddha left his blessing. Truly, this is the transition from lifetimes of war into a garden of peace.

The house position of South Node indicates the area in life where any remaining residue of the Scorpionic battles must be conquered, while the house position of the North Node shows the area in life where the new awareness of trust and security can ultimately replace the underlying struggles.

I really liked everything Schulman had to say...except this piece. I profoundly disagree with it. Anyone with a strong Scorpio SN turns their back on the unresolved past at considerable peril. "The past isn't past/it's with me today", a favorite songwriter of mine wrote, and to deny the past without working through all the emotional issues still remaining there is to compromise the present and doom the future to repeat the past.

One can't just "drop" emotional baggage, esp. those with strong Scorpionic presence. It must be embraced and triggers expressed, more fully than ever, than in all those horrendous Scorpionic past lives that Ketu points at. Those emotions are big, multitudinous and have tremendous power to create in inverse proportion to personal desire if not expressed, and ideally as raw sound and tears and body movement.

And...sexual desire is as Divine as any other part of Love. Of course it must be balanced with other forces in life and if it's addictive or compulsive then what's driving that has to be gone into, but I'm hearing the same old tired "sex is sin" waffle in different clothing. Sigh...

      hi pea .
im solomon , im new to this kinda thing . i've been learning astrology on my own for four years now and even though a rational side of my mind is always open mouthed starving for proof my soul recognizes the life i have now through the interpretation of my chart .I agree with what you're saying . i've got mercury and neptune conjunct in sadge in the 4th house . Moon in sadge in the fourth also .. Im cooming out of some serious health problems that i attribute to pluto in the second house conjunct my north node (both in libra ) i also have chiron in taurus in the 8th house . Chiron's opposed my venus . This physical condition has robbed me of nine years of my life and has made me powerless a great many times . No one can understand what it is i've got ' Not even me . I took a lot of drugs aged 17 to 21 and age 21 is when the condition hit full on , though looking back there had always been symptoms . Ihave scoliosis (curviture of the spine) and though this is mild in appearence i believe it has much to do with the mysterios pains , contracting , and wild spasming of my muscles . And get this , this is weird . I remember when i was a kid having this burning pain in my testicles "BUURNING ! and i'd cry . Now as my body is in what i hope is the final stage of recovery many things are becomming clear to me . For one thing , memories are stored in the body , i keep experiencing so much deja vu and auras of familiarity . I think the merc/nept conjunction in the 4th ,and moon in the 4th is why i agree most certainly with you , the soul has an understanding of time , but not the same understanding as the rational mind . I feel the past as one with the present . As for feelings , you cant just abandon them , they are you . Feelings are power .So if you bury your feelings , turn your back on them , then you do so with your own power . I've been very religiuos in the past , (as a child) and i used to repress parts of me but they were too powerful to silence , although i never granted them a vioce they took up a vioce in my mind and would randomly blashpheme "God is a whore " all sorts of shit like that and i'd think i was going to hell .. I was in a care home at the time and they called in a phsyciatrist etc etc . I was 13 years old and i finally decided i couldnt be the sunbeam jesus wanted so i gave up trying . And i gave up lying to myself about desires i had , man , i was one horny love crazy puppy , i had to deal with it for real . And i had to deal with the fact that i had some really dark shit going on in me too .In those days i didn't so much identify with my sun in scorpio as i did my moon in sadge . I got saturn square sun and moon trine saturn . Bullshit i Hate it , i hate all my sqquares and oppositions . I hate the pain i've got . I've felt for years as though my body was trying to force me out . MY sun is conjunct uranus , my uranus conjunct my venus , all three in scorpio . Then venus has mutual reception with pluto in libra conjunct libran node so i think the node has forced me to "own " my sun which i now identify with more than anything in my chart . Listen man im sorry im one to rant , i feel as though i have just said a heartful . Hope it wasn't too hard to follow . Please acknowledge , in some way , respond to this post . I wish you well man ...

One of the other threads that was still going recently in this tribe brought out that a lot of us here have Taurus/Scorpio nodes of one type or another... and even that a lot of us have Taurus as the north node.

Why do you suppose - if it's as common as it seems - that this is the case here on the Moon's Nodes tribe? Is there something within us that has especially drawn us to this tribe some way?

perhaps the remenants of our south node scorpio wanting to get to know ourselves deeper and better.

i agree with a lot of what schulman has to say bout these node positions when i apply them to myself.
I agree and disagree with the previous poster about the 'never look back' attitude.
you can never completely forget your past or drop the emotional baggage, and if you could i reckon it would be unwise to do so or you'll end up repeating your old mistakes. But personally i find that there are times when i need to just end something and walk away without regrets, which takes considerable strength, or at least considerably tries mine.

well i think i'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on this personally, south node scorpio conj saturn both opposite mars conj north node taurus, south node and saturn in 3rd house and mars and north node in 9th. there's 3 oppositions in those houses so its of great concern for me, pluto scorpio and sun in aries opposes each other aswell in 3rd and 9th house. i guess a big tug of war of true opposites.

You can look at it as a "big tug of war of true opposites," yes. AND you can also look at it as a balancing of opposing forces, so that an AWARENESS opens up. Kind of like the closing of a circuit of electricity. You've got to have both the negative pole and the positive pole. The opposition sets up paradoxes and conflicts that either must be resolved, or else accepted. Some things are unknowable. That is the Mystery of Life. That is why we speak of the Dragon, its nose and its tail. It is all ONE....the motion of the energy builds an Energy Field.

The involvement of the 3rd house Scorpio SN conj Saturn.......opposite.......9th house Taurus NN conj Mars:

Perhaps the movement of the mind, of thought, going from a purely scientific/rational point of view to a more multi-dimensional view of reality, where reason is merely one facet of the event. Eventually, you've got the energies involved in the making of a real JEWEL of a life.

My Taurus North Node is in the 1st house and Saturn is in 7th Scorpio, conjunct the South Node. I have read all interpretations of saturn in 7th, about delaying marriage and so on - I find them to be true, because I don't want to get married. The lord of karma conjunct south node - this is a classic position for when "fate comes to bite you in the ass". In addition, there's no planet in Taurus, just Chiron in Gemini, in the 1st house. Saturn is all over my chart, making links with almost all planets.
Marriage is one adventure I am not looking forward, I have had enough pain to last me for ten lifetimes. Not to mention that Scorpio gives me these needy outbursts that I hate. I want to be me, Taurus is about being true to youself, using stuborness and practicality to fight the stupid emotions of this world.
I have all respect for Scorpios, but they're emotions and intensity are no longer bearable for me and I can feel them in my blood. I just want to be me: alone, miserable, beautiful, angry, rich, poor - JUST ME.

Taurus North Node / Past Live

    Sun, October 5, 2008 - 8:44 AM
The way my chart is set up and with My NN in T I feel that every thing is amplified and causes me much conflict. I found this book
"Astrology for the Soul" Jan Spiller and thought I'd post a few things for my fellow NN in T's"

ACHILLES' HEEL/TRAP to AVOID / THE BOTTOM LINE

The Achillies heel Taurus North Node people need to be aware of is seeking self-worth through others (I can only feel okay about myself through the validation of others"), which can lead them into the trap of an unending search for a soul mate ("If I have this one special person's energy, I'll feel complete"). In truth, Taurus North Node people can only achieve a sense of completeness within themselves-it will never come as the by-product of a relationship, even with a soul mate. No matter how much support and validation theey get from others, they always think they need more. In fact, for them, others’ validation is a false barometer of whether they are on the right track. Living according to standards they know are right for them, regardless of what others think, will help them develop a sense of self-worth.

The bottom line is that at some point they must stop being enmeshed with others and involved in others’ business, and simply walk their own path instead. The irony is that when they begin to do this, other will support them, both financially and on an energy level.

    WHAT THESE PEOPLE REALLY WANT

What these people really want is to merge with someone else’s energy and feel mutual empowerment. They are looking for total, permanent commitment. They want a partner whom they can count on to take care of all their material needs, and they will take care of all the partner’s emotional needs (or vice versa) – synergistic relationship that is mutually empowering and completely dependable. The shared goals must be innately valuable to each of them as individuals.

For this to happen, Taurus North Node people must first get in touch with their own values. They must become strong within themselves, aware of what they want, and tune into what is real and meaningful for them. The challenge is to establish their own energy systems and figure out who they are as individuals. As their energy becomes stronger, they will automatically attract mates of similar energy with whom they can form successful partnerships.

Thanks for posting this Dan! I must say, I find Jan Spiller's description of NN in Taurus resonates more with me. She really is quite amazing!

At the suggestion of other tribe members I bought her new book "Cosmic Love" and I've found it to be incredibly insightful and accurate. I highly HIGHLY recommend it..

Dan, when I read what you posted (from Spiller), I thought 'yes, this is true for me... everything became more right in my experience of life when I found my own center, got strong within myself, etc.' And I'm Taurus north node.

But then I was thinking: why would this insight and advice that Spiller has for Taurus-north-node people not be the correct insight/advice for every person, not matter where their north node is and no matter what the rest of their chart is like?

So I put that question to you.
