Squares to the North Node

what do they mean?

I'm very curious, cause in my chart, there's like a pretty obvious competition between Mercury, my chart ruler, and Jupiter, the Moon, and Mars, and the North Node may help me understand where it leads.

My Mercury's in 3 degrees Pisces, squaring my Moon-Mars-Jupiter all conjunct in 0 degree Gemini, while also making a conjunction to my North Node in 4 degrees Pisces, and my Vertex, in 5 degrees Pisces.
I've always felt torn between tens if not hundreds of different, equally stressful urges and desires, and now I feel these aspects may have something to do with it.

I also read that Jupiter squaring the NN means you have problems adjusting to any public institutions. And that's very true. Despite my Moon, Mars, Jupiter all being in the 9th house, and my Pluto in the 3rd, I always hated school, and finally realized I just cannot learn in someone else's determined pace and rhythm.

And, unfortunately, it's not just school. I have a problem with most authority figures and laws, in general.

So, anyways, have any of you experienced any "bad luck" patterns due to squares to the NN? Especially Jupiter.

I also have Jupiter t-squaring North/South nodes, aka the "nodal path".

My Jupiter is in Capricorn, in the 2nd house. My NN is in Virgo, SN in Pisces. Where I feel drawn to explore the magical path, the creative path, the healing path, in younger days my father embodied my Cap Jupiter by thwarting me around moving in those directions. In later years this manifested as being stopped from pursuing those things by money needs and trying to make more of it while not having to work for it, aka trying to find a residual income.

Spending time trying to manifest that (compelled by a Pluto trine to Jupiter from the 10th) takes me away from the focus on my magical nodal path.

I also don't gravitate at all toward public institutions, so that one fits me as well.

the drama is less intense in your case, without the moon and mars conjunction as well as having jupiiter trine the n.node by sign AND house. That puts Jupiter in a distinctly more complimentary relationship with the Nodes.

Well, Stevo, I almost included this as a piece of information (assuming you were addressing me here), but what I have is an out-of-sign t-square (2H Jupiter 1 Capricorn, 11H/5H NN/SN 24 Virgo/Pisces) not a trine. Still, your point is taken, it's less intense for me because the elements are trine even if square by degree. Houses are distinctly square, however.

you're right, and i was wrong about the houses. we agree on the other point. My third point was that Jupiter is only one planet in aspect, while Mantis' n.node is contending with a tight conjunction of Jupiter, Mars and the Moon --the latter two being major personality indicators.

I have Saturn and moon squaring my nodes with a 2 degree orb.

Saturn in libra 15 deg and moon in aries 11 deg . north node in cancer at 13 deg. south node in cap.

"Saturn square nodes indicates a thwarting of the natives' ambition and progress by prevailing social forces. Their fearfulness and conservatism may prevent their being in the right place at the right time to take advantage of opportunities which the society affords them. They may be isolated by society or become recluses."

How apt. Frustration and more frustration.

"Moon square nodes tends to make the natives emotionally out of harmony with the trends of their society. Very often the flow of events creates petty problems and sometimes domestic problems. There is difficulty in gaining social recognition or fulfilling ambitions if women play a part in this. The natives are likely to incur their disfavor or dislike in some way."

Is that why i just never can get along with some women?

I find the saturn square very apt about the energies I have to work with when it comes to accomplishing things in life. The moon square is just - well, too emotional sometimes. The abundance of air in my chart sometimes just turns the other cheek to such lavish displays of emotion, especially when it comes to women.

Since yours is Jupiter, I suppose 'luck' would come into play in some form or the other. With the case of saturn and moon, I guess more frustrated attempts are in line..

yeah, I found this description too. And I don't know if I would say I can't get along with women, in general. It depends on the women. Though, I've had some "nasty business" with some girls my age, a few years ago. But I played my card right and turned some of their friends against them, and brought them to my side..lol. I guess that's typical for a Sun-Venus conjunction-I read a description once that said it makes you capable of charming even your worst enemies.

I wouldn't say I was either lucky or unlucky in my life. I've had my share of really good luck, as well as some less than fortunate events-but not directly related to me.
I would say luck has a lot to do with Jupiter transits. When they leave ya, you just may jaywalk yer last road.lol.
