Hello!
I'm a Taurus Sun in the 8th house with Libra rising and North Node in Scorpio in the 1st house.
Could anyone explain this better to me? I understand the basics of North Node in Scorpio and in 1st house, but how it relates to my sun and it's house and anything else, what would that mean?
Thanks so much!

Re: North Node in Scorpio in 1st House
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 9:16 AMHi Tanya,
How it relates? Is your Taurus sun conjunct your South Node? It stresses that you are very comfortable and used to involve yourself in others business.

Re: North Node in Scorpio in 1st House
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 6:51 AMHere's what Cafe Astrology says about your NN and SN.
"North Node in Scorpio and/or in the Eighth House
With North Node in Scorpio, our South Node is in Taurus. With North Node in the eighth house, our South Node is in the second house.
A tendency to be overly self-reliant and set in our ways, to cling to our possessions (material and otherwise) and habits, to be too fearful of crisis and overly focused on security, and to attempt to achieve success through sheer will rather than listening to our sixth sense are some of the issues this position suggests. With this position, we need to loosen the grasp we have on the things and people around us and open ourselves up to our soul's need for transformation, change, and regeneration. We may experience difficulties in partnerships because we tend to be blind to others' values and worth, expecting them to share the same values as us. We, in fact, not only need a partner, we need to learn the value of true partnership and intimacy (sharing) in order to gain the security we so crave! But, first we need to move away from our instincts to support ourselves, and towards sharing with significant others. We may fear taking chances and we tend to resist change as well as input from others. We may find ourselves imprisoned by the world of the five senses, and need to learn to fearlessly confront the possibility of crisis and change in our lives. Moving out of the seemingly solid and stable material world can seem intimidating. But clinging to things and people that are either outdated, limiting, or counter to our growth will steer us in the wrong direction. Releasing ourselves from our attachment to doing things our own way will help us find inner balance and satisfaction. "
It's interesting your SN is in the 8th house because that's the natural house of Scorpio so it would give it some Scorpionic influence. It's also interesting that your sun sign is Taurus because that's your SN but since it's also in the 8th house it too has come Scorpionic influences. But one thing that will mean to you is that because your sun sign and you SN are both in Taurus you'll have a harder time moving from your past life influences of Taurus to your current life's goal which is Scorpio. You are going to have to fight yourself and your rising sign is not going to help with that one bit.
Your rising sign it the self you show to the world. Libra Rising has a tendancy to have boundary issues and lose itself in relationships. That's the complete opposite of a Scorpio who has a very clear sense of self and a dominating will (which Taurus too has by the way). Libra wouldn't start a fight to save it's life or anyone else's for that matter. They would rather go along with a lie than to stir the pot and risk hurting anyone's feelings. They also see both sides of everything so it's hard for them to draw a line in the same and take a stand. Or they take a stand then end up constantly changing their minds as they see the other side. Scorpio will draw a chasm in the sand if they have to put it there with dynamite and they won't spare anyone in pointing out the truth. They'll shove the truth of any situation down the throats of those around them and tell them to quit their whimpering and grow a spine. Very opposite in the way they deal with things. So your Rising Sign will do it's best to put the clamps on Scorpio behavior. Taurus would give you the stubborness, determination and sheer will to carry out the Scorpio but to Taurus if it is living in a cozy home with a nice job and friends who love to eat and party it will be happy. It also has enough sensuality to take on Scorpio sexuality and just give it a sensual spin (think food, wine, silk, etc. used in sex games and you have Taurus gone Scorpio). These signs both have a tendency to get possessive of partners so they can also play into each other that way. Scorpio is just far more intense and sees much more of the underbelly of the world which would upset a Taurus no end. -

Re: North Node in Scorpio in 1st House
Mon, February 16, 2009 - 1:17 AMThank you so much for all your replies! Very helpful!
I should have mentioned that my South Node in Taurus is in the 7th house. My Taurus Sun and Mercury in Gemini are in the 8th, but Venus and Jupiter both in Taurus in the 7th.
So I have Libra Rising with Scorpio North Node and Uranus in Scorpio in the first house.
Hopefully that clarifies it a bit!
And Zanne, I actually am VERY intense and love to explore the mysteries of the world, the unknown. But that could also be my Moon conjunct Pluto in the 12th. It is sometimes hard to separate the effects of the different aspects.
I just wonder if it will be hard to grow out of my South node with so many planets in Taurus? But I feel I am more like a Scorpio at times! And having it in the 7th house... would that mean I would have difficulties in relationships?
Thank you! -

Re: North Node in Scorpio in 1st House
Mon, February 16, 2009 - 6:21 AMWell, if they form a stellium in Taurus it would be very powerful. It influences your ego, your communication, your intellect, your relationships, how you aquire wealth, and how you view luck, religion/mysticism, travel, etc. It's also your draw to the past. Changing SN to the 7th would make it more Venus ruled than Scorpionic which would add to the Libra Rising actually. A Taurus 7th can make you very possessive in relationships but it can also just make you very comfortable there if you share a lot of sensual pleasure, enjoy the arts together or even just have a beautiful, comfortable space together. You can easily get stuck in a rut with Taurus because it doesn't like change at all. Scorpio is about transformation so it demands change rather than just wanting it. It will force changes on you that will be very uncomfortable. According to Schulman's book on the nodes this will happen later in life. You won't like it but the more you dig in and hold on the worse it will be going through it and you will lose everything anyway. The lesson you need to have is to find that you only need yourself, not possessions or another person, to make you happy. You find the truth of the very cosmos within you. When you do, then you are freed.
Moon conj Pluto in the 12th is a very powerful position. It makes your subconcious and your subconcious emotions very Pluto driven. That's a very powerful Pluto Moon you have. The thing is that it operates at a subconcious level so you might not always be aware of what is going on. Moon in the 12th sometimes hides the moon (your emotional and nurturing nature) as well as being an indication of problems with the mother or a sick/absent mother. Pluto Moon is also indicative of problems with the mother, especially the conjunct. With Pluto Moon that can be a sick, absent, or controlling mother. It usually indicates a disconnect of some sort with the mother.
As for all the planets in Taurus, see what they are doing with Pluto in aspects. The ones in the 8th house will be Scorpio/Pluto influenced anyway. How close are the planets in the 7th to the 8th? When they start getting very close they are read in the 8th more than the 7th usually. For instance my Taurus Moon is 7th house at 26 but it's read in both and the 8th is more accurate. That is almost definitely influenced by the fact that it is squared my Pluto making it a Pluto Moon. So your aspects, depending on which aspects can affect how strong those planets are in Taurus as well.
Another thing you want to look for is how confident you are about your birth time and how close your ascendent is to Scorpio rather than Libra. Those are very different rising signs. My Scorpio Ascendent is at 0 00 so every astrologer looks at Libra Rising for me as well because if my birth time even changes by 30 seconds it becomes Libra Rising instead. However Libra Rising doesn't fit me at all whereas Scorpio Rising fits me completely (and I'm a Libra Sun). That changes my whole natal reading if it's wrong and I basically have to throw it out. So if Libra Rising is close to becoming Scorpio Rising and you feel Libra Rising doesn't fit at all, then you might want to start moving your birth time slightly and see if you can right your chart. Birth times are rarely accurate even if the hospital if they are busy. I was born in a small town and the only baby born that day so I guess nothing much was going on in there because it seems to be right. That almost never happens and most charts need a little adjustment to right them. -

Re: North Node in Scorpio in 1st House
Mon, February 16, 2009 - 11:08 PMThanks Zanne!
Well, as far as I know my birthtime is correct, but like you said, I don't know. I do have a lot of Libra traits, but that could be easy to confuse with my Libra moon. I have always felt more like a Scorpio and for a long time thought I had a Scorpio rising... but the strong 8th house could be the reason I feel that way.
If it would help, here is my birth info: May 10, 1976, Rochester, NY, 5:32pm.
It's interesting we have many sign similarities!!!
Thanks!
