my recent cinematic obsessions

because of random viewings of the Dish network that my friend has...I am currently watching and rewatching (because I do this for some reason) 1. the Ice Harvest- why did I like this so much originally? and why is this considered a comedy?
and 2. Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle - love love love it. Am now feeling like I may be the reincarnation of Dorothy Parker, but that is so trite, I know.

    I've never heard of either.

    What are they about?
I will have to look into them.

Well...lessee...Mrs. Parker and the Viscious Circle is about Dorothy Parker. Very good biographical movie about the [in]famous beat writer....who is played by Jennifer Jason Leigh. Matthew Broderick also stars in it. The Ice Harvest stars John Cusak and Billy Bob Thornton and is about mob lawyer (Cusak) who plots with his friend (Thornton) to get away with stealing 2 million and murdering someone in the process...in Wichita, Kansas.

Both are worth watching, I think. I particularly like the Dorothy Parker movie...because I learned so much about her and was fascinated by the portrayal of New York in the beat days. I think the time period was early 40's- around there- but I am merely guessing.

now I am back to watching Twin Peaks- old favorite.

I am adding them to netflix as we speak.

I just watche Perfume-story of a murderer last night. What a waste of time.
Nice concept, but silly all at once. One thumb down.

I watch more tv when I'm single.

I watch more movies when I am unemployed. And I am currently unemployed. And watching ALOT of movies.

Not only did I discover Netflix a few months ago - finally taking the advice of my friend (I HIGHLY recommend) - but the same friend is a media junkie and I seem to be able to get handfuls of DVD's just going over to his house. It's like being a kid in a candy store...one where the candy is always free, that is.
