Fan Fusion
One fan. Two fans. Red fans. Blue fans. Learn the basics of fan fusion Ms. Zuza style!
Learn basic fan techniques - opening and closing, snaps, hand and arm techniques,
dramatic poses, and single and double fan movements, Flamenco style and Japanese
influence. Please bring a fan or two of any kind for this workshop. A few fans will be
available to borrow from the instructor.

COST: $10/Drop-In OR $64 for the complete 8-week session

DATES: Oct. 22 through Dec.17 (no class on Nov 26)
Oct 22 - Pop/Lock/Wave/Tick Tock: Adding the 'robotic' moves to your dance. These moves are core to the tribal fusion langauge. We will build up and work through the techniques and excercises to build up this stunning stylization
Oct 29 - Slithery and Slinky: Adding gooey-ness to our mayas, taxims and building on our side winders. As a contrast to last week, this week we will work on our snakey-ness. We'll work through excercises to lengthen and build our movements
Nov 5 - GUEST INSTRUCTOR SAAHIRA! “THE BELLY“: flutters, undulations and shimmies. This class will focus on flutters and layering the flutter with undulations and shimmies. A flutter is a wonderful accent to your dance repertoire and is sure to add the ’wow’ factor to your dance. We will break down: a) how to start a flutter, b) which muscles are used and how to find them, c) upper abdominal flutters and lower abdominal flutters, d) layering the flutter - yes this can be done! e) You will also learn techniques you can do anytime and anywhere to build the strength and control needed to master this wonderful move. f) And then… we will drill, and put this all together with undulations and shimmies. Don’t be surprised if this becomes your favourite move

Nov 19 - Adding a Little Curry: This week we will focus on blending the Indian styles from Bollywood. This will be a very high energy and fun class. We'll work on different ways of traveling and utilizing our arms and mannerisms to give the feel of India.
Dec 3 - Bringing in the Sacred: Utilizing mudras and eye gestures, we will focus on Indian Temple stylization. We will discuss respecting the poses and what impact they will bring to your dance
Dec 10 - Caliente! - Fusing with Flamenco and Tango: Quick spins/turns, body extensions and floreos. We will work through all these and more to bring the heat of Flamenco and the passion of Tango to your fusion dance. This week is not only about technique but attitude.
Dec 17 - Building Your Drama: In this final class we will work as individuals to build our own dance. We'll talk about techniques to draw in the audience and how to build your 'story' with song, movement and costume. Bring any music, costuming or ideas that you are currently working on. This class will have some discussion time to talk as a group and drama excercises to build your stage presence
