Scuba and I have been throwing around ideas, for a "DomoShed".
This is definitely not set in stone as of yet, and I'm looking for ideas.
We will definitely need pallets for this thing to go off, or at least a bunch of scrap wood. Please post and contact one of us is you can contribute.

1st Render
Thu, July 30, 2009 - 1:23 AMpeople.tribe.net/0e0d65fd-...65ade91c54
I made this as a subject for comment, so please do
ideas
- flame thrower mouth (working on it)
- lights in eyes and mouth
- after plywood skin is attached, spray brown (scuba, - borrow paint gun?)
- spray mouth red (scuba, - borrow paint gun?)
- Gatorade spout penis - definitely doing
gravity feed from top "floor" from a Rubbermaid container with blocks of ice.
- during burn, red flares in eyes
- pyro package on top floor - NEED HELP
- arms will be weighted much like a camera jig arm., automate waiving?
8 cinder blocks attached to feet - to ease my mind
size is roughly 10.5'x8'x15', so it should be stable enough to stick a couple lawn chairs up top for DOMO VIP lounging -

Re: 1st Render
Thu, July 30, 2009 - 6:04 AMBe sure to click on his photo link. I am rather impressed with the plan! Jope doesn't do shit halfway. If I weren't already married I would totally try to marry joe. If it were legal in this state.

Re: 1st Render
Thu, July 30, 2009 - 10:56 AMindeed, and i was sweating that.
Best thing i could think of was to use an acrylic based paint
nothing thick, just enough to color.
Ill get in touch with sherwin williams and see if i have to special order something
I might just use some left over kills on the teeth.
i would be rolling that, not spraying, so we would not be burning much.
It cant be any worse than the amount of metal and other nasties we burn with the pyro packs.
But yes, for the main brown and red colors, i am looking for something benign.
Does anyone have any ideas on things to check out?

Re: Orphan Burn 2 Effigy
Tue, August 4, 2009 - 12:26 PMThe Scorched Nuts 08 effigy was a gonzo fist, they used a bunch of old T-shirts ripped up and then painted to make the outside. Cloth makes a pretty good "skin" for an effigy, if they're brown shirts/cloth then you won't need paint :)
i don't have shirts for you, though =\ just an idea -

Re: Orphan Burn 2 Effigy
Tue, August 4, 2009 - 9:29 PMSeveral thoughts here for non-toxic.
First off, if you can find powdered hematite [Iron (II) Oxide] as a colorant that'll work for a red. Non toxic. Inert. Stable. Same with a "limonite' (yellow-brown) colorant. That's Iron hydroxide, more or less, and goes back to hematite. Hematite is what makes the rocks look pink when the Indians used to heat white flint to make arrowheads.
The other thing is RIT dye, or just cloth from Jo-Ann fabrics. Cloth will burn. Not a problem, if it's a natural (read cotton, silk or FLANNEL)
I'd suggest flannel because it's thick enough to cover the effigy nicely.
DO NOT use a synthetic fabric (nylon, orlon, dacron, polyester, etc.) Dangerous and MELTS, producing toxic fumes.
Good luck with the effigy! -
