I know a lot of the DFW Burners tribe is tired of Tribe always going down, and as a result created a group on NING. Check it out here: dfwburners.ning.com/
I'm open to the idea of creating a NING group for Myschievia. What do y'all think? Are we ready to leave Tribe yet? Is NING a good option for this group?

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Sun, October 19, 2008 - 9:47 PMHonestly, the only reason I ever kept up with tribe was the fact that I could read the posts without logging in.
This is NOT the case with ning. I really hate that. a lot. I will never use auto log in features or software either.
I am not a fan of the web groups anyway, except for file sharing, calendars, or photo albums. But you get all of that with things like google or yahoo groups. Then you only have to log in to get at the files, which is rare or need based. The bonus all around with these solutions is that it is push. I get emails instead of having to keep a webpage open on my system for weeks at a time. Much much nicer IMO. -

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Mon, October 20, 2008 - 10:52 AMI just loaded the NING site. I do sites for a living, so I have lots of tools loaded to my browser. NING generated 111 warnings (primarily stylesheet) and 4 errors (it looks like the chat module doo-dooing on itself.. It is still generating ServerTime errors as it sits there.
Tribe generated 23 warnings, primarily stylesheet.

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Mon, October 20, 2008 - 11:15 AMTribe's not getting used much of late, but I'm still loyal, and hopeful that the latest changes should solve much of the trouble. I'm not opposed to using Ning as well, but there are many folks I interact with here, and I'm not ready to leave them or lose all the info we've posted here for the last several years. If most of the Dallas community goes to Ning, I'll likely use that for local org purposes but I'm staying with Tribe until most of us are gone...

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Fri, January 2, 2009 - 11:38 AMThere's another unseen but very prevalent advantage to using Tribe.net as your location for getting Burningman related information now, too, Major Tom: I happen to be one of the new co-moderators for the main Burningman tribe. Bobzilla, ElainE, and Rhino form whats known as "BEER", and we are trying to create a new sense of unity across all BM-related groups in the main tribe. It's no longer a sock-puppet infested, troll-friendly free-for-all. It now has distinct advantages in membership.
And I'm from the Midwest. I love DFW and North Texas burners, because they're so close, and because Geo P has a smile that would cause a charging Rhino to stop in its tracks. We of MidwestBurners and Gateway Burners happen to think y'all are the BOMB.
So, come on over to the main Burningman Tribe. Things have changed for the better. Try it out!
Thanks. We now return you to your regularly-scheduled Myscheivia discussion. -

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Sat, January 3, 2009 - 9:45 AMThe move to Ning wasn't due to content Rhino, it was due to Tribe's inability to maintain even the remotest form of reliability. Granted, it's up a lot more than it's down lately, but imho, Tribe has a serious credibility problem. -

Re: Do y'all want to move to NING?
Sun, January 18, 2009 - 11:37 PMIt has recently come to my attention that some people think that the apocalypse is coming sometime on or about the year 2012. This is so horribly wrong that I find myself with no alternative but to drink an entire bottle of robitussun cough syrup and masturbate to comfort myself from the idea that my fellow humans are so inexplicably wrong and ignorant that they don't see that the apocalypse has already happened.
For the record the end of days happened on July 13 1969 for no particular reason except that somebody allowed Nixon to take the 300 million'th breath of his lifetime. This was the sign that the baby Jesus, Satan, Ghandi, and Hitler had been waiting for for millenia. The chance to drop kick the human race through the goal posts of hell. The chance to fold spindle and mutilate humanity beyond anything it had already done to it's self in the hopes that this would awaken the slumbering idiot bain of the earth into some sort of enlightment through pain like a drunken unemployed trailer park father of existential fury trying to get his son ready for the big game. But as it were these plans didn't work out at all. In fact the human race is capable of far more self abuse than anything that even Einstein could think of under complete and total water-boarding duress. We can endure on a daily basis and even invent in states of reasonable comfort, hells that are far worse. For instance we can easily watch a mental midget steal elections, murder innocent civilians, women, childeren, and proceed to the nearest starbucks for a cup of half-caf latte before we chain our taints to the nearest cubicle and spend the day talking to people we'd just as soon eat in a life or death plane crash with a columbian football team. Just sayin..
