Ok i cant remember who it was at Frenchy camp but the question was asked what i knew about replenishment medications ....for help with recovery of consumables. the fact is i trust the information of those around me. i have now complied a quick list of the medications i carry with me with some cryptic descriptions. ---in hopes that a responsible party will chime in.

you have to take care of yourself --NOONE else will

If you know of improved information or have a better list of replenishment medications i am always looking to raise my knowledge level on these matters.

L- Phenylalanine -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenylalanine
-sold as nutritional supplements for their reputed analgesic and antidepressant effects

Choline -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choline -
are often taken as a form of 'smart drug' or nootropic, due to the role that the neurotransmitter acetylcholine plays in various cognition systems within the brain. Choline is a chemical precursor or "building block" needed to produce the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and research suggests that memory, intelligence and mood are mediated at least in part by acetylcholine metabolism in the brain.

Gaba -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gamm...tyric_acid -
is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian central nervous system. It plays an important role in regulating neuronal excitability throughout the nervous system. GABA is also directly responsible for the regulation of muscle tone.

5htp -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5-HTP -
is a naturally-occurring amino acid, a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin and an intermediate in tryptophan metabolism. It is marketed in the United States and other countries as a dietary supplement for use as an antidepressant, appetite suppressant, and sleep aid.

Piracetam -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracetam -
is a drug which is claimed to enhance cognition and memory, slow down brain aging, increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain, aid stroke recovery, and improve Alzheimer's, Down syndrome, dementia, and dyslexia, among others.

L-Tyrosine -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrosine -
is one of the 20 amino acids that are used by cells to synthesize proteins.

Vitamin E -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_e -
It has been claimed that α-tocopherol (vitamin E)is the most important lipid-soluble antioxidant, and that it protects cell membranes from oxidation by reacting with lipid radicals produced in the lipid peroxidation chain reaction.

Vitamin C -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_c -
we dont want scurvy do we?

Echinacea -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echinacea -
is popularly believed to be an immunostimulator, stimulating the body's non-specific immune system and warding off infections

Melatonin -
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin -
can entrain (synchronize) the circadian clock to environmental cycles and can have beneficial effects for treatment of certain insomnias. Its therapeutic potential may be limited by its short biological half-life, poor bioavailability, and the fact that it has numerous non-specific actions.[6] In recent studies though, prolonged release melatonin has shown good results in treating insomnia.

Tylenol - i don't use it but others do. many say it works.

        L-Tryptophan
        en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tryptophan

Tryptophan metabolizes into 5HTP & Melatonin

"It is believed that an artificially high supply of 5-HTP causes the brain's serotonin-producing neurons to increase production. Increased serotonin production then leads to increased serotonin release."

For what it's worth, I was told by my chiro that taking Tryptophan usually works better than taking 5HTP directly for increasing serotonin levels. Tryptophan is much more expensive and hard to find compared to 5htp(people's pharmacy has both in Austin). I take two every night before bed because of the melatonin. I will still be very drowsy waking in the morning. These should be taken on a empty stomach or they may not be absorbed with food/drink. My experience have been very positive other than drowsiness in the morning, makes a huge difference in my mood after my morning tea wakes me. I could tell the difference having left the bottle at home for Myschevia.

At an event, you may or may not want the addition calming/sedative effect of the melatonin

My pharmacist has told me that patients taking antidepressants(serotonin uptake inhibitors only) that supplement with Tryptophan/5htp usually can frequently reduce the dose by half and get the same results.

Tryptophan overdoses in high school football players looking to bulk up are why it is so hard to find these days.

I don't imbibe in things that I know will crash my neurotransmitters- so your mileage may vary- but the science at least looks right for that application.
