I know there has been discussion about who is bringing sound but talking to Eyeore last night I found out that there are 5 Sound camps registered.
I believe some of those are probably small sound (like mine 2 Mackies maybe a sub or two) but the suspicion is 2 or 3 of them might be larger sound systems.
So the first question I have is out of those who will be up and running Sunday night???
Secondly if someone has a small one they are planning on bringing would you want to collaborate on a party Saturday after the burn???
I would rather not add a sixth sound system to the mix (though the enjoyment Onerio and I would have on informing Ese of it might be worth it :-) ) if we could just better use the equipment available for the enjoyment of all.. except Ese of course ;-)

Thu, September 25, 2008 - 2:44 PMjust want to make sure we have some tunes there Sunday night....
One of my favorite moments last year (besides running in terror when I though unrully man was exploding) was Sunday night when Nobody was DJ'ing off his ipod on my denon.

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Fri, September 26, 2008 - 11:13 AMI will be there Sunday night....
And furthermore, there will be one less sound camp, FYI. It looks like we will be merging with Winners Circle. I am actually sitting here at Cherubic and Whatamelon's place and discussing presently. Their normal sound guy, Dan, will not be attending. And I am a Winner at heart anyhow...
As an aside, I have been hearing Myschievia mentioned a great deal lately...it looks like Austin will be reppin' pretty solidy this year out.

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 6:37 PMI posted on an earlier thread about bringing out a soundsystem as well. Im surpirsed to see this many people doing sound camps /sound systems this year, when I went like 2-3 years back it seems like I only saw one or two. I will hopefully be bringing out my system, assuming I can rent a generator before hand, which shouldnt be hard. I am probably going to be one of the few local djs attending this year, we actually have a small scene here in the East Texas area (Tyler/Longview), around 10-15 djs , but as far as the ones I know it will just be myself (DJ Klinz) and DJ Fluxu8 attending. We should be bringing a few crates full of TripHop / Glitch Hop / Dubstep to keep the burn groovin. I also have quite an assortment of ambient/psychill on cd I would like to play but I believe this year we will just be bringing out the turntables. We would love to travel and play with other camps this year, hopefully we can make alot of new friends with the other djs and burners alike.
Here are some links to one of my newer mixes, to give everyone a little taste of the style the 903Bass crew brings.

We are also putting on an a Downtempo/chill out event here in Tyler on Saturday October 18th, and we should hopefully have some flyers ready for myschevia.

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 7:30 PMsweet... more the merrier...
but just so you kow last year I had a small system (which was the biggest one out there the year before) 2 Mackie 450's and sub's and ended up shutting them off and just getting time on Sunkyst system which is huge... well it can be but seriously it's a nice system but check around first and see if you can find a time slot on one of the existing systems... I for one am leaving mine at home and just bringing CDJ's and a mixer and collaborating with other dj's who already are bringing speakers....
If you are bringing 10-15 dj's then by all means bring your own and if you are bringing yourself I think you should bring your own if you really want to but also think about touching base with the other sound camps and seeing if you can fit in somewhere...
just my 2 cents... look for me ask for Weid or John we'll hang out.. who knows I might have Tequila for you :-) -

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 8:02 PMIm only bringing 1 other dj with me (DJ Fluxu8), I was just saying there are like 10-15 djs that are in that Local area (Tyler/Longview). Unfortunatley all of the other local djs are cheap and lazy and havent gotten tickets although I did inform everyone about Myschevia, so their loss. Yeah I cant wait to meet up with some of you guys and make friends to groove along with, glad to see more people talking about soundsystems this year, sounds great =) Im excited. -

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 11:23 PMHey its not the size of your system, its how you use it, LOL.
While I know of at least 8 or 9 jocks that are presently wanting deck time on our system, there are 3.5 nights (I may not be fully online Thursday night, depending) and 4 days to fill with sounds...so I doubt we will have much trouble fitting all that would like time in.
The only thing I say is this:
Please be aware of how loud you are playing...and make sure it matches with the energy/number of those at the camp! There is nothing that pisses me off more than to have to come over and tell a jock to turn it down because he is carried away in his own personal world, and only 1 person is dancing...and it is like 5am and he is blaring it...
I would like time to do other things at the burn without feeling the need to constantly babysit the rig. So if anyone does not think that they can handle gauging the level of the crowd...and respond accordingly, then please recuse yourself and allow someone else a shot.
Sorry to come off as an ass, but time and time again I run into issues where I gotta stop whatever it is I am doing, and tell a jock how to pay attention...
One of the bad parts about bringing sound...the buck stops here. So if there are volume issues, I get to hear about it from the community. And I really don't enjoy hearing about it...
K. Enough of that. Back to the subject at hand.

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Sun, October 5, 2008 - 9:34 PMokay, here's the scoop on the sound systems…winner's circle and boots and pants combined…
the other loud sound camps have pulled registration or did not register, so we can place a few more sound camps…
if you want to bring a sound system then we'll find a spot for you, you just have to play nice with the other childeren =)
loud sound camps will be placed behind sunkyst's system with their speakers not pointing at each other - it's actually pretty big back there and we have some overflow as well…sunkyst's system will play the effigy field at a reasonable volume
there will be some onsite flexibility as we find out about people's sound systems…

Re: Sound Camp questions...
Tue, October 7, 2008 - 9:53 PMSunkyst I totally agree with you about some djs not knowing basic etiquette and being off in their own little dj world. Im glad some one said something ahead of time so its not just a bunch of soundsystems going crazy in different directions at different levels battling each other. I am looking foward to possibly playing on other soundsystems as I love to spread music and good vibes to anyone that will have me. Im honestly just happy to be there and if I get to play a few sets to some happy burners that an added bonus. Cant wait to see who all while be spinning at Myschevia, there is an open invite wanting to play on my soundsystem while im out there. Its vinyl only, because i dont own cdjs, so wax djs bring it! Hopefully we will all vibe off of each other and some amazing sound collages will be made,
Much love and excitement,
Jason
