~Why do any of us even bother searching for something beyond ourselves? Seemingly greater than ourselves? Are we born with an itch in need of scratching? Why is that? Is the other 90% of our brains sooo very bored that we create needs, desires, drives, endless questions? Can a true question come into existance without its accompanying answer and we intuit that? So much seems to hang just beyond my range of understanding...~

Energy Vampires

~I look around and wonder what is the truth in our collective hearts. Do we really want 'peace'? Could we actually handle it? In this fast-paced, consumerism, competitive, defensive/aggressive, thought a nano-second techi-hype world so constantly filled with every sensory type input? Seems we might simply explode or implode. Yes, there are those who are truly, consciously working toward peace in their personal realities that it might radiate outward...but for most who speak of it..? I just wonder sometimes if the words are only more ego-filler...myself included in this question. I'm willing to give it my heart and soul's best, but I might be exposed as one of the ex- or imploders--lol!~

I awoke with a question on my mind this morning, as anyone who passes through this life with a sense of awareness and attention probably has long before me: Are we no more, in the end, than an ever shifting chemical cocktail held within a matrix of habitual behavior, its existence validated by a framework of quasi-mystical beliefs?~

chaos..?

~For some reason, I've been noticing these past few weeks how if something can 'go wrong', snag up, get confused, get lost...it will. Why is it that when you drop the lid to the vitamin bottle it doesn't simply hit the floor and stay? Or even bounce and then stay? No, it has to hit just on its side while remaining upright (yeah, pay me a million bucks to do that again!), roll across the entire kitchen and then bounce down the stairs, careen off the front door and continue to bounce down the lower stairs. Like a well rehearsed circus act!

~So I've begun to 'see' what could very well occure--that I don't necessarily wish to because it inconveniences me--and it usual does. Seems not so nearly random and chaotic at all. Just the fullness of Life being exposed; all the potential variables surfacing the way Nature can send an oak seedling up through a sidewalk. Chaos? No, just a grander pattern of order beyond our usual human mind-set~

the mindset of duality

~I recently read an article entitled: 'Born into the wrong body?'; was told that it 'was wrong' that someone died young; someone's response was judged by another to be 'wrong'. There are many avenues along the mindset of duality; I've chosen this one as more commonplace to begin and have been working with it quite a bit the last couple of years...trying my best to be aware of attaching the mindset of 'wrong' (or even 'right') to matters as that simply shows the depth of my preconditioning. Trying to get past right or wrong and just experience the instant of 'it is'. On those rare occasions when I can manage this state of mind, there seem less mysteries overall...but suddenly more magical moments (yes, my subjective observation-lol!).

A ghost passed through me the other night...

I went to a bar with my girlfriend the other night. Were hermit, homebodies a lot of times, however since we recently moved... we thought we should check out the local bar. It is a piano bar, Thumpers. Anyway, At one point I was just sitting at the bar talking to Amy. All of a sudden, a tingle began to move across me. I felt it first on my outer edges. Then I felt a concentrated ball of energy pass through me. As soon as it passed, I shook myself off and sat there in a bit of shock. I felt good though, not bad or upset. The bartender said that the place is haunted. I believe the ghost/energy of the woman passed through me. Amy and I chatted a bit about how wierd and wonderful it was. However, part of her energy came home with me. As I sat on my computer, I felt for a moment that someone was using my body as a remote viewing vessell. I shook it off, and kindly asked the energy to move on. It did.
I had to share this experience with my mysteries and magick tribe. Any thoughts? Anyone else wanna share a similar experience?

~I have always been intrigued by what 'seem' simple directions: The points on a compass; places on the planet; the changing feelings you sense when turning this way or that; a way you prefer to turn most often, a way you don't. I seem to prefer the south/west for living and moving in. Even though I'm right handed, I prefer in my mind the sense of turning left more often than right. I am overall much more drawn to space than to a terrestrial bond...such things I've been thinking of more lately. Ring a bell with anyone else?

Here we are wasting our valuable time (as some would believe) playing around in our make believe world of electronic virtual reality. Sure, we might just learn a few things here, floating around in the information supermarket. Though it might appear to be child’s play, some serious work and growth does occur. Occasionally someone else may light a light and we might be warmed by the reflection, catch the glow, and mirror it for yet another someone. Some days it is comforting to be spontaneously greeted by a handful of friends scattered all over the planet, something my grand dad would have dreamt of.
This is all well and good in the here and now but what of the if and when...
As my great friend Spinningmonkey shared with me the other day. It is as if this is the orientation time of the web. It is preparing us for the real test of advanced communication. The time when our thoughts come directly from the internal input device not translated through keyboard and mouse. A time when the trucks are not delivering and monitors are not lighting up. When isolation and fear start to have deep impact, and some are left alone in the dark. I will have you! You might remember me... What value...to smile with, to picture each other on the big screen inside, to ask and receive your counsel, and to commune with while knowing you are in a similar fix.
And WE , sending what ripples of communication as we may, will remain connected forevermore, come-what-may and so-how-ever-be. That is something the shadowy,ghost/troll/unknown-tribesters can not have shake or destroy. Those who have dallied and provided pictures and details exposing their crazies and cares have seen me as well. We have connected, shared, exposed and bowed to each other. I can imagine your aura and can taste your opinion, sounds like intimacy to me. I heard you cry and laugh over the vibrating threads you have posted, stimulating my gratitude. I have loved and been loved, as well as admonished by all of you lovelies. What a source of strength you are, We are, this media IS! It will be continued forward in our creativity when the wires fail. The threads are there, the connections made, the communion has begun.

Children and hearing

Here's a bit of a mystery I've observed over the last few years~

In the past, let's say the '60s/ '70s, children would quickly cover their ears whenever the sound levels around them increased to a level considered only slightly louder by adults.
This ear covering_seems_to be much less common today.
Has our overall environment created that much desensitivity? Blaming TV/ videogames seems like a reactionary and shallow answer. Any wild guesses/ thoughts/ studies on this?

A very intense tarot spread

First of all...hello all you people some of whom know me. Magick is definitely manifesting in my life lately, and crazy how. Here's a spread I threw today...if you know about tarot...let me first state that this was a thoth deck and thrown in the style of the Golden Dawn.

Okay, so the question was about the path I chose before incarnating (which I understand begs the question and may seem a little presumptuous). And the results are a little intense. Now, everything I read very clearly seems to affirm my recent intense life experiences and my interactions with tuned-in people. All in all, its kind of frightening, but in the same way that rock-climbing must be, or surveying a martian landscape, or finding your soul-mate. These are all kind of recurring metaphors which have been darting through my life lately. Perhaps just echoes, but something seems to want me to make a move, and I hope I'm not too late, or too much the coward.

The six of cups affirms what my horoscope says which is that my life is primarily to be one of pleasure and enjoyment of a certain amount of karmic fruition. Now, the cups and disks around it are not conflicting. The princess of cups represents the way I have lived my life in many ways, choosing the world of dreams (as reflected in my music and poetry as well), and also reinforces the 6 by helping show the method of reaching pleasure (and in this case, it is fairly true). The Ace shows what I have to work with to tread the path of pleasure, and in this case refers to not only the embodiment of spirit which is this reality, but also the physicality of earth, and in fact the material world itself as the vehicle to convey and communicate pleasure. For me this is also amusing because I have just recently lost a lot of money, which I had been living off of. So I am back to roots.

Now, the upper right spread is very interesting. Again, everything is complimentary. The emporer is a card I have thrown more times than I care to count, and always on questions regarding my destined path. He is flanked by the most ideal cards that the emporer could hope for, peace, and the graal. These are all he, and, though through a metaphorical construct, I have longed for. The Ace is obvious in one sense. A reduction and rebirth at 1, and a reintroduction to the element of water, and a reaffirmation of the idea of pleasure and connection to spirit. The two of swords again reaffirms the connection to spirit, this time as the guiding force which creates the mutual benefit of both the emporer and his domain. When you look at this section of the spread, you can see that not only are all the cards favorable, but they are internally balanced between the masculine and feminine forces.

The upper left spread seems both numerically and metaphorically a development rather than a contradiction to the upper right. Again, the interior card (that card closest to the issue) is a cup, and the exterior is a sword. Also, in this situation, the numbers are both 1 higher than their counterparts on the right. This restatement of the concept of one occuring twice in situation (as aces), twice again as both internal and larger internal differences (the difference between 1 and 2 on the right, and 2 and 3 on the left, and the difference between the right and left) is also amusing seeing as it ties directly into ideas about the emporer and agency, and the matrix, and binary division. On this side, death is in the middle. Not surprising that in future development, both literal figurative death should constitute the end-all of the reading. In the popular celtic cross, I often get Death as the last card. So, here we have love, death and sorrow. All things I have experienced in limited senses, and hide from in very real senses. Obviously I will not be able to hide forever. But conversely, the three of swords represents not just sorrow, but the release of sorrow and movement towards . . . joy, or if you're still looking at card 1, pleasure. The vehicle of this pleasure is of course love, and wisdom...the two precursors to truth (depending on what you believe).

The bottom left, the psychological basis is also dominated by powerful trumps, though not so much as the bottom right. In the center, there is interference. In this position, my falling back on tarot rather than just relying on self-confidence in my metaphorical interpretive ability as pertaining to even the most seemingly mundane is an over application of magic and force. I have already been given all the tools I need to follow my path. The Heirophant represents my utilizing my divine connection to learn the tarot as a method to understand my path, as well as a reminder to persist (as the I Ching tells me almost always) in the 8 limbed practice. The chariot is the victory, the fruition of stubborn travel on the path, albeit a transitory victory, as death has already reminded us. Also, connoted to me at this particular moment (as I attempt to find a job in the field of early childhood education) is the idea that perhaps education as it is concieved is in itself interference and a falling-back on the authority of tradition within the context of helpfulness. The elemental balance of this spread of three is mostly air, indicating to me that my personal interference is one of the mind and the will, one born of intellect, a trait shared by the common rigors of western education, and only tempered in the self and the society by the hierophant, who teaches, but not out of desire for obedience of authority, but because he sees the mind straining to learn, and would assist when needed, and asked.

The last section is the most metaphor heavy, and the most sensible when you consider it represents the karmic forces, the forces which are beyond my control, and which manifest the rest. In the center, the universe. Uni verse, again a repition of the concept of one. In this position, it represents and clearly states that my path, though perhaps chosen, is in many ways entirely out of my control. In fact, it might lead one to believe that the choice was made (for or by my spirit) to manifest as a being which lacks some components of free will, or who at least operates most harmoniously and peacefully and for the benefit of all through the dissolution of free will. Again, this is something echoed to me via MANY strange coincidental conversations, and many episodes of what many people would consider bouts of paranoid delusion. It again echoes both the heirophant and chariot in its perseverance and stubborn resistance, as well as the aces in its singularity status. On the interior, is Art, on the exterior, the Lovers. The book, The Art of Loving comes to mind. The symbol of the yin and yang, the image of the playa at sunset...sigh. The incidence of the universe through the skillful interplay of dualistic forces comes to mind. Us and Them, and about a million other songs. All three of these cards are heavily laden with symbols of dualism. Perhaps, being out of my control, this could also just be another echo telling me to accept dualism. Note also that both Art and Lovers are alchemical cards, and between them contain two eagles and two lions, of different colors on each side.

Now, looking at it all together, I think anyone could agree that this is an intense and potent read. I would be interested to see what others think of the nature of the spread, but it seems almost self-explanatory to me...again, the lower left reminds me that none of this is new and I've already been told as much via simpler and more complex languages and situations.

Sometimes I swear this is just a really crazy dream...the rest of the time I keep quiet and just think that. But if not, I've got work ahead of me, glorious work that will pay off for everyone in my life as well as myself.

All questions we ask we know the answer?

Hm, well I'm not sure I believe that... perhaps we MAY, but not necessarily. Anyway, my insight on magick, is at worst, it is great fun, stress relief and placebo, not to mention a great connection and resolution with your feelings and the implements of ritual, such as nature or a sword. At most, well it'd be just great if you could alter the workings of the world with your will in ways science has not identified.

Certainly if it is real, the workings are a mystery, as its not popularly accepted, and in places it is believed in there is little consensus I've seen on every aspect. The question goes, where to look for mysteries. Gurus, cults, mentors? Who to trust? Even if you trust their will, do you trust their competancy? Their sanity? In the end, I think it is best to be your own leader, listen to everyone, try their stuff, and put together what's most useful.

Remember that book "The Secret Life of Plants"? In it they spoke of a guy who put the electrodes of a lie detector onto the leaves of a plant, and then thought about dumping his coffee on it. The meter went wild. Well, hold onto your hats....

He took some yogurt from the fridge and dumped it, along with its resident colony of acidophilus and bifidus bacteria, into a petri dish. [With a] portable bioresponse meter [he] placed the electrodes in the dish... Then he asked me to think of a deeply disturbing emotional experience. Rummaging through memory, I had a sudden flash of my sister's death, and i was flooded with a surge of grief. At that very moment, all by itself, the needle on the meter buried itself in the red zone, then oscillated wildly back and forth. We hadn't touched anything. The box was hooked up to nothing but the yogurt (strawberry, my favorite). Nothing in the room had changed but my feelings. When I switched my mental focus back to my surroundings, the needle went still."

Right-legged or left-legged?

When standing for a long period of time (say at the airport, esp. now) do you tend to balance your weight more on one leg more than the other?
If so, which one?

a touch of luster

~I have been thinking (feeling) greatly of late about the various types of 'magick'; what we've been told, randomly shown and simply know. I have decided that for me, at this present time at least, the most powerful, profound, subtle and sublime magick is opening oneself to move with the doing or not doing of any/every little thing that adds a touch of luster to an often mundane world. To walk with one foot in each world (the Seen and the Unseen), sensing and responding to each; to lift a hand to each in turn and touch the other. There are grand flashy 'magicks' performed in the Seen that are still of the mundane sort, and then there are--usually--indiscernable magicks manifested in the Seen directly linking it for a moment to the Unseen. The veil thins, shifts aside briefly and a spirit of grey or muted colors may experience a spark flash through them. Their energetic vibration increases, as do their colors, with little ribbons and specks of brightness flaring off of them like fireworks. A soft breeze of pleasant and lively scents caresses their cheek and enhances their breath. They realize that they have been staring at their feet for most of their lives and have the clear gift of choice in their hand. To be an instument of such facilitation is a blessing and gift; to receive it is to know the sublime wonder of both worlds.
~There are groups of people who gather or sit alone--quiet, unremarkable people--who through their opening becoming conduits of healing magick for our entire planet. This is not to heal the physical form but the spiritual symbiosis (the Unseen) of all living matter in the Seen, that will in turn manifest as a whole and healthy organism. So, large or small--judgements of course, since who can say upon what minute pebble the course of events may turn--we practice our magicks. What sort is yours?

evolution or facade?

*Note new tribe photo* Are we really so different? Have we ever been or ever will be? Who believes that there is no kernal of truth to the stories of Tarzaan or Mowgli, raised in the wild by animals? Do we see these characters as less than 'evolved'? Perhaps this notion of evolution is merely a recent social construct to lend us a (false) sense of security and cooperation..? Personally, I do indeed believe that we are all (living entities) evolving but that, in humans at least, it has less to do with an elevated ego stance of superiority and more to do with simply coming to know and accepting what we really are...which is incredibly so much more than the socially offered posturing can grant us. Behind the mask is...everything!

Here's a poem that I wish to share...

I tripped over Beauty, and fell onto the shrine of Truth.
I slipped on Beauty , and saw a reflection of the Divine staring at me startled.
I smelled Beauty, and a kiss came my way.
I tasted Beauty, and felt union with my meal.
I heard Beauty, as I flew away with it.

This was inspired by Celtic Mythology, in which our five senses are represented by Five Streams. I think beyond the "Sixth sense", there's perhaps a limitless amount of senses that we just can't put a scientific finger on. There's a possibility that non-Western society realizes this.. as the Arctic Inuit have something like 55 words for white snow.

Anyone have Poems to share? Please share! I know that Aranor has quite a talent for Poetry!

Cornell boxes

Last year, I was enrolled in a 3-D art class that discussed the work of an artist unknown to me: Joseph Cornell (1903- 1972, American). His most famous works are small, usually wooden boxes filled with objects "that used to be beautiful". Have a peek:

Cornell sometimes claimed that the objects selected and positioned inside the boxes had no particular significance. The instructor of this course challenged the class to create similiar sculptures while trying not to add 'personal meaning' to artwork.
Five minutes into the project, I gave up. The completed piece ended up being influenced by events of the disastrous breakup of a friendship. Relics and symbols of time spent together (but no photos) went into it. Others in this same course admitted defeat in trying to keep out personal meaning in their work. Everyone seemed to be vague about what their pieces symbolized.
My Cornell box ended up in a bonfire last week, a local Pagan/ Burning Man-style art party.
This act was a release; the pointless obsessing about What Could Have Been was over.
Perhaps this style of sculpture could have applications for healing, banishment, riddance.
I flat-out_felt_better. A chaos magickian might build something like this for a sigil.
As for Joseph Cornell himself, his body was cremated and placed in a small wooden box.
Funny and a little sad; poetic overall.

On my jog today, I took that 'other' path, having no idea where it would lead. full spectrum flexibility and aging

~~Okay, I'm turning 50 this autumn and have been thinking a bit more about the process of aging. Also, working in a pharmacy and being active had shown and taught me many aspects of this process. Here's a little something that came together for me this morning while on my jog: I believe the choices we make when quite young affect the process; I've decided, from observation and experience, that the process is accelerated by an overall lessening of 'range of motion' of the body, mind, psche and spirit. I now think that this often subtle and insidious constrictor--and it origionates on many fronts in our modern society--lessens quality of life, longevity, peace of self and joy in simply being alive. I've said before that I'm focusing on simplifying my life, but this doesn't mean that I have denied myself true pleasures, just that now I know the few things that really bring me happiness and have cut much clutter away. I still allow my body to do all that it is capable of and to continue to grow in beneficial ways as it ages; I allow my mind to wonder at, chase after, share with others and think about anything it cares to no matter what the world might say; I allow my spirit self to be exactly who it is at any given insant and to explore new feelings, concepts and experiences. Not just keeping range of motion, but enhancing it with unity, discernment, wisdom, compassion, honesty and humor wherever possible~~

~~One of the greatest gifts my late mother gave me, besides a doorway to this infinately fascinating realm of course :), was a deeper and more expansive 'reality' than most of my peers were exposed to. She was a diagnosed schizophrenic and it really began to come out when I was seven, or so. I believe interacting with her, observing how she interacted with society and it with her, watching her deteriorate in her ability to 'keep pace' and function along set social/economic assumptions…all these experiences forced me to grow in many ways. The seed of empathy and compassion was planted; I no longer believed that things were always as I'd been told by those around me but sought, by direct experience, my own 'truths'; there was a profound, enticing mystery at the heart of existance, a vast and vibrant truer reality than the shadow play that seemed to pass for Life and I began to follow its call~~

~I'm in the fifth day of an experiment with myself: Can I cultivate awareness to a level of always noting when I'm judgemental and slowly, simply by acknowledging it, rid myself of most of it. There is discernment and judgement that must be exorcised in daily, functional life, but I'm referring here to the--often unconscious--stream of thoughts with emotional attachment where we measure, rule, label and pronounce upon one another. The first couple of days I almost gave up, as the flow of subliminal judgement was overwhelming. Little by little it's gotten better, though, so I guess it is possible. I feel more relaxed throughout the day with this letting go of internal judgemental blither, probably wasting less energy, too :)~

We continually examine and vicariously join in/play with it in our mass media. It plays such an intigral role in our religeous constructs as 'the other' against which so much is measured and judged. "Your fear what you do not know"...so why not come to know this shadow inside of us from a controlled, enlightened place? Is that even possible and is that why we fear it? Do we ultimately feel that we have so little understanding of our own natures and control over ourselves? If that's the case, then it seems like we've already fallen into darkness...

Subtext, Context, Hypotheticals and Coincidence

Now, some of this might be offensive to some people, so read at your own risk.

Okay, so here's the deal:

Lately I've been able to understand multiple aspects of conversation through social context. Now, I know we all do this to a limited degree, but I'm talking about something radically different than what I'm used to. Have you ever been holding in a fart and suddenly, in a room of maybe 25 people, several conversation mysteriously wander towards the subjects of German mythology, anal sex, fascism, neo-capitalism, and chicken-coop ladders? I mean, how many ways does the universe have to tell me to stop holding my shit in. So, here's to practicing releasing waste. Back to the original point.

Lately I've been unable, or perhaps unwilling, to ignore the subtext that individuals lay down. This subtext can be subtle or obvious, seemingly dependent on the intensity of the person laying it down. Either way, lately it seems as if every extended conversation I have seems to be a well-coded therapy session with the universe, with my hang-ups coming very clearly into the light. Not that I've resolved them all as they come up, but they've come up.

So now I'm on a farm. Now I was originally intending to come up here a couple months ago, but it didn't happen. Then, a month ago, I gained some focus and gave away most of my material possessions (to people who would actually use them). Okay, getting on track. So, two weeks and some change ago, I end up at Fort Awesome, my favorite co-op in Berkeley. I was intending to leave at the end of the week. I developed an illness. Okay. One week later, again on a Friday, I am again scheduled to leave, but in this case I miss my bus. I'm of course, fine with this. I'm out 65 bucks, but I can still breathe and all my limbs work, so I carry on. Here's where things began to feel strange.

So, that Friday, realizing that I'd already missed my bus, I decided to ingest some toxic fungus at another co-op, Lothlorien. Well, after spending some wonderful time on the roof, the sun goes down and we go down into the common space. There I have the distinct feeling that people are attracted to me (which doesn't surprise me because I'm very cute...the Scorpio rising helps too), including the man who has been watching me and my friends unravel stories on the roof. This man lays the subtext down like a master (including a repeated subtextual negative statement about Greyhound busses). He makes his desires as clear as one can within the textual subject of Mac and Cheese. Meanwhile, I'm paralyzed, completely unsure of what I want. Fully aware that I enjoy being on the receiving end of anal sex, but unsure whether or not I trust this man, I find myself unable to speak to him without employing a similar subtext. (note: apparently sexual consent granted in subtext doesn't count...there must be some stupid legal reality to that)

Before the end of the night, I'm wrestling a very nice Asian man (as was the person who was laying it down so thick...and I won't lie, I find the asian phenotype VERY attractive) who is fascinated with German sword-play. Being a little bit heavier and having been practicing not holding onto anything while on public transit allowed me to hold my own simply through intuitive movement and a strong stance. Then, while a small group of people were trying to ply me with alcohol, I decided to leave. End of that phase. No sex for Veru.

So I put out a request for a rideshare Friday night/Sat morning. Saturday evening I get a response from someone who lives extremely close to the farm I'm going to (relatively of course, since in agricultural areas, distances are greater). Everything sounds great.

Monday he picks me up, and I find out that we hit it off very well very quickly. We both are sensitive to subtext and context, and as such we are able to converse about vulnerable topics with some understanding of what is really being talking about. Turns out this guy is a wrestler who is trying to get away from his capitalist job to start an intentional community in the area I'm going to go work in.

Throughout the conversation, we exposed and explored our individual realities in union. Turns out that my prevailing attitude was just what he needed in order to deal with had been a stressful couple of weeks working for the 911 truth movement, and his emotional honestly was just what I needed in order to have an honest (subtextual) conversation about my sexual confusion. Of course, if I hadn't dicked around for a month before getting rid of my stuff, and if I hadn't gotten sick, and if I hadn't missed my bus, and if I hadn't sought a rideshare instead of getting another Greyhound ticket...

Get it?

Okay, now if you haven't already tried it, read this all again, and pay attention to the context, and the subtext. I'm learning that it is almost impossible to speak truth by yourself. You can speak truly, but almost always within the confines of subtext. And I'm also learning that as a social organism, humanity speaks through context, using multiple individuals as vehicles for the messages it needs to cut through unnecessary conflict.

Perhaps you already know this stuff, in which case, you probably got most of the meaning of this on the first read.

Now, I haven't said much about hypotheticals, but it was throughout these last two weeks that I realized that speaking in hypotheticals is a waste of time. Several conversations allowed me to realize that when people pose hypotheticals to me, which are basically analogies which draw entirely on the past and thus are totally disconnected from the present, I have nothing to say to them. I am unable to respond truthfully even within the frame of subtext.

The pattern has been thus:

I pose a question that I want to know the answer to (often for the purpose of resolving a conflict), and the person who I pose it to responds with a hypothetical. If I attempt to follow their hypothetical, I never actually come to a point where the question or conflict can be resolved. Only by stopping the hypothetical, and requesting that the person answer with a present condition based off of their actual belief have I managed to find resolution.

So, I ask you, the reader, this:

What if you were lovingly unconcerned with the outcome of all "what if"s?

Dreams & Visions

Namaste, dear Brothers and Sisters~

The nature of what a “dream” and a “vision” is can be a lengthy discussion and exploration, in and of itself…often times we use the words interchangeably, and this indicates to me that they are perhaps ‘twins’ with just a few subtle differences…

In my experiences and ceaseless searching, I have found that there are varying types of dreams and it is the following types that are at the forefront of my ponderings at the moment:

The dreams that occur when we are working through intimate, personal transformations (Higher-Self/subconscious communications);

The dreams that are messages of a broader-sense –beyond just the scope of one’s personal sphere (not sure what nifty label to apply here);

And then the “prophetic” dreams…and within the prophetic dreams we can have a personal, intimate “version”, as well as global.

And when they all get mixed into together within one stream…good grief!...cracking the code can be most challenging :-)

What I am wanting to explore here would be the visions that occur within a dream (but I am by no means wanting to "limit" the scope of the discussion, either --just clearly defining my personal desire here ;-) )…the nature and meaning of dreams are multi-faceted, just as the human beings that experience them…

Of course, our different perspectives and personal Truths will have a great bearing on how we perceive and interpret our dreams…but being among like-minds and kindred spirits, I believe there is a strong enough common thread among us to explore this subject and find a resonance within each other’s sharing…

A dream two nights ago and a brief discussion with spinningmonkey has prompted me to post this thread…for it seems that my “bigger-than-Self” dreams have kicked in again, and as this particular dream (and others like it) is beyond just myself, I agree with dear spinningmonkey in opening up the subject with others…

Sooooo…who else is having dreams/visions steeped in symbolism pertaining to the growing polarity between those intent on breaking paradigms and raising the level of awareness and those who would wish to keep the status quo by any means and at any cost?

Shall we share each piece of the puzzle and see what picture arises?

~This 'statement' actually popped into my head this morning as I was writing to a dear friend: KNOW THE DEEPER TRUTHS BY THEIR SIMPLE UNFOLDINGS IN THE PHYSICAL REALM. That just stuck with me, I suppose, because that's how it feels to me. My physical senses percieve some event 'here' and then turn it over to my more expanded senses to do with as they will. This is my 'allowing Spirit to move me'. At times, I've done things that are outside the accepted social construct of behavior, nothing major, but was following the dictates of a higher construct I guess you'd say. Hopefully always for the highest good, but that's just my personal judgement from a limited perspective.

Just wondering if any of this resonates with others...

to be or not to be...

~What is your belief regarding an afterlife, no afterlife or reincarnation? Not simply what you were taught as a child, or read, or had someone else tell you...but the distilled belief of this living moment of all of the above with your personal experiences and/or intuative knowings?

~I believe--right now--that we do reincarnate, but only in human form if we are human. I believe it's always a spirit choice made while out of the body, not some form of being trapped on a wheel or something like that. I believe we live spirit lives full of experiences and lessons, expansion or contraction while not in the body. We know what we need, we are both student and teacher, creator and created. When my sister passed away eight years ago, I had a very powerful direct experience of, not only what can happen to a spirit that leaves the body without an understanding of what happened to them, but also that reincarnation is not bound by linear time. A soul can incarnate at any point in time and that reality is just as alive, true and viable as any other.

~Well, that's a glimps of mine for now. How about my fellow tribers?

To focus on these things: writing, martial arts, meditating, hiking, gardening, close friends and family. To do fewer things with more committement to perfection. A movie suggestion

This weekend I went to see a documentary titled, Unknown White Male.

It is a true story. It is about a man (I believe he is 37) Who wakes up one day on a subway, only to realize he has no clue how he got there, where he was coming from or going to. Most important, he has forgotten who he is. Literally. He has lost his entire episodic memory from birth to present time. The documentary follows his journey for two years after his memory loss, as he discovers who he "was"... and who he "is" now. Without giving too much away, all I can say is that this film is extremely thought provoking. I loved it, and it really made me wonder about our past and our memories as individuals. I live in Seattle, and I went to the Harvard Exit Theatre to go see it. If anyone has seen it, I would love to hear your thoughts. Until then, I just thought I would suggest this documentary to all of us who love the mysteries and the magick. Love and light, Colleen

~~Are you ever a little nervous or fearful by your own 'magick'? Those things that occur, or you seem able to bring about, to know, to shift or shape? Events that you don't fully understand how they happened but are magickal in nature; it is difficult for you to find the words or concepts to explaine it, perhaps even unsure of your reception? Many such events, for me, might fall under the heading of synchronisity...but really what is that? A higher order of magick? More powerful or altering synchronistic events seem to happen in my life when I am relaxed, focused, accepting and open--or are allowed to happen because of this inner state (?). I try to keep in mind: 'be aware of your thoughts/emotions' and 'be careful what you wish for'. Those two quotes, for me, are the responsibility side of the power of manifistation. Really understanding how we create our own realities can be quite disturbing and scary if we have developed no matrix of balance to work from~~

Disclaimer: I'll probably make no sense here so please bare with my ramblings as I've been trying for a few days to feel the words that discribe a sensation :)

~Very few human beings live in an expanded state 24/7; I know I haven't met any as yet. Sometimes I purposfully go there, as in sitting meditation. Sometimes I'm transported beyond myself during Aikido practice. What I'm looking at here are those times when, unbidden, expanded conciousness occurs...what this feels like to each of us.

~For me, it's like I just caught a fleeting glimps of something that I need to focus on, or heard a whisper of word or distant song that I'm now fully attentive on hearing fully. I become both inward focused in order to access all my multi-layered senses and outward focused with this hightedend awarness to perceive directly this extended reality; hear the message, see the greater picture.

I'll understand if that makes no sense-LOL!

~~So just what does that word *magick* mean to you? What does it conjure up in your mind and heart? For me, it labels the Unknown, the manifistation of occurances and phenonmena in this physical realm that our current understanding lacks answers to, only vague insights and intuition. Yet the concept of magick and magical things has/is so very powerful in our collective psyche; from cowering before a god of lightening, to harnessing lightening, to fantasizing about sending lightening bolting from our fingertips...thus becoming the god of lightening?
~There have always been, and still are, those among us drawn to and in the pursuit of magick, by whatever names they go: Alchemist/scientist, healer/doctor, shaman/priest, dreamer/writer, etc., witches, wizards, magicians...all have their counterparts with acceptable masks in our present environment. Changing the names doesn't alter that intrinsic belief.

and acknowledgment of the sanity
of our inner voices.

~We walk into someone's space and can get a very clear view of that person, even more so than attending only to word and deed. Our very appearance says so much to the observant eye. We daily state our truth. What are we telling the world? What are we saying about our deepest beliefs as a species in how we manifest in the environment. Our pretty words don't seem to be reflecting our truth, as a whole.

M theory

I was recording, The Elegant Universe (NOVA series) for my sister last night. One of the physicist who helped solved the anomolies with five different theories, and reduced them down to one theory, coined the new theory M theory. Some of the objective physicist scoff at it, while others embrace it. The man Edward Wittle (sp?) who was able to advance string theory into M theory, says that the M stands for:
1)Mystery
2)Magick
3)Matrix

~Emotions and how we each view them, embrace or reject them; have learned control or are controlled by them. Always of interest to me. Why and how were some uplifted while others were cast down? Why do some human beings attempt to live without them when they are intrinsic to our being human? I once read a line from a Buddhist text that said, roughtly: "You cannot transcend your ego if you've never developed one or come to understand what one is and its effects. Two people may be without ego; the first having never developed much of one and the second having transcended theirs--they are in utterly differently places spiritually".

~Take anger, driven by fear, yes, but it can still keep you alive. Come to understand its true nature and you can use the energetic pattern of anger without the fear driven, uncontrolled aspect. Take love, a blissful state...until it goes sour on you. Then it can turn into the most destructive force known. Come to understand the true nature of love and you will find its universal, limitless seed that connects to all living forms and never falters, never sours.

~Warm greetings on the morning, lovely tribemates! I was noticing the flow of hearts and minds, certainly mine as well, on different tribes over these past few months. I had this little chat with myself last night and wished to share it. This tribe, and other worthies, have so many wonderful and provocative topics posted already, some slipping off the front page from lack of interest when they offer so much chance for reflection and interaction. I looked inside myself and found the hyperactive seed of my society that always wants things new and exciting. Is always hurrying and wants instant gratification. When a new idea or question naturally arises it is beautful to share, but I would also encourage my friends to look into threads already posted and then look into themselves more deeply. That's the aim of Mysteries and Magick, to dive deeply; that is where the most wondrous pearls lie~

the Matrix pill

~~Something I've stewed on since the first Matrix movie came out was: There never really was a red or blue pill...that scene took place completely *inside* the matrix. So when Neo swallowed the pill to awaken, there was actually no physical link between that virtual act and his chembath cocoon. Right? Or did I miss something. So what brought about his 'awakening' was outside stimulous in the form of Morpheus et all and the surge of chemicals released into his brain by the instensity of the moment of choice and commitment. He never needed a pill...and could have been awakened at any time--as any of them could--by an inner stimulus...a nagging perception of a greater reality. And some, once awakened, will chose to slumber once again.
~~Then there's *Morpheus* himself, which I believe was Neo's own inner stirring projected into the matrix to give himself the added pressure he subconsiously knew he needed. Still all his own construct. I think we all do this in our lives, most of us unaware of our own weavings; then we're either the shocked *victim* or blissed out *winner*, never perceiving that we are following the storyline we are choosing to create. I mostly liked this movie for its Zen onion sense of reality. Sounds very familiar, huh?
~~I've even been playing with the notion that *Neo* himself is actually the boss AI, as humans, when they destroyed their planet, transferred all that they technologically could into machines because the planet was no long bio-sustainable. What appear to be human beings in rows of cocoons are really the humans who couldn't adapt to the drastic change and chose instead to slip into a collective consciousness of 'how things were'--the Matrix--while half asleep inside their mechanical forms. Their thought processes generate all that energy as the brain is what uses and generates the majority of our energy, not the body. Boss AI projected Neo outwards to deal with the corrupted file that was threatening the them all.

This little sentance rattled through my head the other day and I can't shake it. Can it be that simple? When I repeat that sentance, inner ramifications seem to go rippling off the concept into all corners of myself, flashing intuitive images and sensations I've yet to fully experience. We've got cellphones that make movies, Hummers that You could fit an army in. When I tell people that I often "talk" to trees they must think I'm nuts( I only tell very few on Midgard). I think this world is nuts.

Shamans, that heal with Plants, rattles, etc is sanity to me. Soccer moms maxing out credit cards is quite insane to me. I think that the roots are much deeper than status(Level) ,Money (tool), and Hummers. Let me remind you that I'm refering to the Modern day chariot otherwise known as " how certain folks drive to their places of Wealth and status" ie. the suburban palace.

Civilization, that lovely beast has all these cures to heal us...

Religion, whether your taste lies with stadium Christianity, Dime store neo-Buddhism, or your run of the mill New Age Spiritual Nomadism. Civilization, has printed so much Literature for us to read, ponder and burn in case the dogma does'nt agree.

The next cure is often a fix all for the Atheists, and the Agnostics...

The Science, and technology arm of civilization supplies us with sexy gizmo wizardry that jingle our favorite songs on our cellphones, and so that we can hang our tv sets on the wall. For all the Luddites ...eat some raw food, and walk to the next anti -technology protest.

What about this wonderous creation under our feet? Has it become as William Gibson says "the alien planet" for many in modern civilization?

~Perhaps this one, too, belongs on the 'personal superstition' site, not sure. Anyway, I've always been intrigued by 'bondings' (no, not bondage :), between two humans on up to everyone breathing at this exact instant on the planet. But to keep it smaller...Why this particular group of folks in this tribe? Same question would hold, of course, for any other tribe but this is the one I'm sticking my question on, lol. Why us, even those who signed on and haven't popped up once since--do they somehow play a part as well? Perhaps their silence is critical as a counter presence to the words/energy transmitted herein? When I thought: a) I'd like to be able to go to this sort of gathering but can't find it b) which lead to: I guess I'll start something and see what happends to c) I like the name Mysteries and Magick...yes, good name d) and you endlessly amazing souls are here now, spinning wonderously from your personal skeins into the great tapestry! To me, this process of a) to d) has already answered...well, at least validated so many intuitions I sensed about how things work.

~As Aranor put it in his poem--I am the Magician! We are all movers of magick(energies) and when we spellweave(share/create/connect) together like this--known or unknown to us--ripples expand and affect collective reality.

weeeee! i've been reading so much wonder and posting when called that i've only left myself thirty minutes for this post i visualized this morning after waking. this is my experience... that i would share with you...

last weekend i became aware that there would be trance dance last night, and went.
once before in june of '98, the month home went to the big island, had i trance danced.
it was profound though details have long since escaped me as i never journaled them.
in between i have danced and danced!
last night was profound and magical.
my intention with the protection
of our guides, our angels, our ancestors
that i create as i don the blindfold
is to be open, one, connected
with all that is

four distinct experiences remembered:

being with a trapped and dieing kupuna buried under the mudslide
my/... arms and love wrap around them

a portal opening over the area and bright soullights flowing to

standing behind a young man, on a bridge rail, who is in deep disillusionment and despair

The problems that face our planet as Icecaps melt, upcoming peak oil crisis and war machines rage are problems that stem from a system that does'nt work. Let us look to the tribal cutures for possible solutions. Many of these cultures have survived so much longer than our little 10,000 year old civilization. Civilization needs to go for the planet to survive imo. It's time for new visions, and some of those visions could be informed by the tribal societies that remain hidden away from civilization.

Within these visions lies such a great promise. I can feel a Future that's real, that works and I FEEL it grow brighter. It's not time for that so played out "Us vs. Them" cycle.
Different groups know it. We can't fix civilization....It's been tried countless times in countless ways. We need a new model. One that looks to Tribal culture instead of this 10,000 year old virus known as civilization.

Crystal Water

Good day to all on this lovely magical tribe!

I have been wondering what people might think of the posssibility that water crystal shapes, be they snowflakes or those found in ice, might not only be uniquely variable and pretty, but actually really significant! We all remember from childhood, I suspect, that every snowflake is unique. What nobody suggested to me is that this might not be a random affair. Imagine how incredibly important it might be for the nature of our reality, where every known living organism is mostly water and the majority of earth's surface is covered with the lovely stuff, if the vibrational quality of conciousness could be held and transmitted thru' the crystalline nature of water!

There's a guy called Dr. Emoto (could that really be his name) who has done a lot of work on this and it looks really convincing. It makes material sense of the human instinct that gives so much spiritual meaning to water and bodies of water, way beyond the non-spiritual perspective that we project spiritual importance upon it cos we need it to live!

the secret of your origin

~~I just 'stole' this bit from a post by Kaim concerning his personal mythology because it hit me right between the eyes! One of the larger mysteries we hold inside ourselves: what do we secretly or outwardly *believe* our human origins to be? Like Kaim, I have a powerful sense of coming from elsewhere, yet also feel strongly that I am connected to the Earth. I have a (until now private) theory that when the planet was oh so young there was an event that affected the fabric of budding life here and co-mingled it with something that had arrived from Elsewhere. The Elsewhere matrix mixed microscopically with all biological entities but found an especially compatable blend with what went on to become--US! So, feet firmly rooted in the Earth and head in the Stars we are. Intuitively knowing that which we have no utter reason to know. Feeling inside of us deep truths about matter and the void; the mutable laws of known physics and the dreaming/sensing/imagining leaps of *genius* about the nature of reality. It's all quite a tumbly muddle when I say it like this, I know, but as Kaim put it:

Are YOU Overburdened By Your Superstition?

Or do you just KNOW what your Truth is? An alternate title to the thread could be "Tell Us About Your Personal Mythology". What follows is part of a letter I wrote to a friend a couple weeks back:

There's no need for (any) of us to be overburdened by superstition. I think we (all) recognise that each individual creates his/her own reality-- idealy using or adopting that which gives us nourishment, and leaving or excreting that which does not serve. We nurture any number of archetypes within us, create our OWN myth for ourselves, and therefore accept any number of "superstitions" as our personal reality. Some feel that they are a wizard, or perhaps a shaman... others, a knight, or perhaps a king. Some feel that planetary alignment creates a percievable resonance that may affect our day, or life, and that we are a part of something so very much larger... others feel that both before and after this very incarnation there exists nothing else. Some believe they are borne from the Earth... others, podlings from another planet all together. Perhaps all of these things are superstitions... though we may not always believe them to be such, or feel "burdened" by them.

May understanding of the Force be with us All.

So, Gang, what's the most bizzare superstition that you've ever adopted or accepted as your own Reality? What makes/made it so real? If it's an older aspect of the self which you've since shed, then What now exists in it's place?, and how did making the journey with those beliefs help you while you held them? If it's a long-worn belief, why have you held it for so long? If it's a new belief, do you now consider the older ones to be "superstitions"? Can you imagine a belief in where you're perpetually aware that your very Belief Structure IS only a myth-- a superstition... a belief-- and therefore is no more "real" or "valid" as the one's we've "grown out of"?

personal 'recipe'

~~We have another fine thread here where folks are sharing their disciplines/play that enchance their connections with themselves and all of Life. I have this odd thought that ultimately each person has their own unique 'recipe' for perfect balance and the adventures and lessons in Life are to discover, refine and then live it. Like, parts of the Paula recipe include a certain amount of alone time for reflection or just sitting, certain optimal foods, playtime!, laughter, body/mind/spirit movement practices, etc. My preportions, blend and preparation. Each to their own, yet so many shared ingrediants like a potlatch where each brings to and takes from the table according to their nature and their need.

~Have you discovered your recipe yet? What's in your 'pot'? Has it an overall flavor, like sweet, spicy, tangy, salty, bitter, bland..? I think my overall is a bit of a tangy-sweet, with a lingering aftertaste that you perhaps can't quite put your finger on...
