Re: notes?
Sat, September 30, 2006 - 2:10 AMI play many different instruments, both melodic and rhythmic (I'm a professional drummer/percussionist)
and I have found the using Live Looping hardware and/or software is a wonderful way
to augment one's live playing.
Sometimes, the simplest drum beat in the world, looped over and over with some rattles and even looped
drones from your flutes, can make a beautiful, elegant and minimal backdrop to your flute playing.
On this page is a track I did live at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur (one of the most beautiful natural ampitheatres to
perform in on earth------------you sit in middle of a gorge whose walls are hundreds of feet high...............yet they are
not made of stone..................they are Sequoia Gigantia Redwood Trees).

I used a double barreled drone Native American Cedar Flute and an instrument that I invented called a
Liquid Glass Ghatam, which is essentially a large glass vase whose sides I can play melodically over two octaves
because there is water inside that can change the pitch of the glass.
It's the only track I've ever recorded with this beautiful Native American flute and it is one of 22 tracks I recorded live without edits culled from 50 solo concerts in 12 countries in the past four years. I played 48 different instruments and no track has the same set of instruments from it. If you are interested, it's available at www.looppool.info, but I didn't intend this as a commercial.
There are a couple of other much more idiosyncratic tracks at this page too. You are welcome to download them as well.
enjoy and come join us at the Live Looping Tribe or at www.loopersdelight.com

Tue, October 3, 2006 - 3:13 PMWho are you responding to? The link in my posting works fine for me. You probably need quicktime installed; otherwise download the file and play it in your favourite (WinAmp?) player.

In that case I won't feel too bad posting this track of processed flute with electronic backing:

PS Rick: I'll check out the live looping tribe. I've been meaning to get into live playing with electronics.
