This makes me sad. They've been influenced by a massive cult built around a non-existent deity, patriarchy, and prudishness.
While I don’t want to tell others what to believe, I see religions in general as one of the biggest obstacles to women's liberation and sexual liberation.
I say to these poor women, deprogram, enjoy life - men (or women), wine and song. This is life, not a prison sentence!

Pope Benedict thanked consecrated women virgins gathering at the Vatican on Thursday for their "total gift" to Christ, praising a holy rite that he recognized was difficult for some non-Catholics to understand.
"(Live your lives) in such a way that you always irradiate the dignity of being the wife of Christ," the pope said in an address to hundreds of consecrated virgins from dozens of countries meeting in Rome.
Consecrated virgins are women who take a vow of lifelong chastity in service of the Church. The Vatican says they are "betrothed mystically to Christ" through the holy rite.
Committed virgins were the forerunners of nuns in the Roman Catholic Church. The Vatican revived the rite, not practiced for centuries, in 1970.
The pope said the women's vocation was deeply meaningful, even if it could be seen as "dark and useless" by some of those who do not share the Catholic faith.
A U.S. group which attended the conference estimated there are more than 3,000 consecrated Catholic virgins worldwide.

No, I am NOT degrading women, as a whole. Just having a bit of fun.
I remember Catholic School Girls and visiting them in their all girl school when I was a teen.
NEVER have I heard such 'cat calls' in my life.
"3,000 consecrated Catholic virgins" seems like a large feat after spending many a times hanging out with Catholic females.
Betcha....
.....they put out easier than one would believe.

Re: Pope thanks virgins for 'total gift' to Christ
Mon, May 26, 2008 - 9:14 AMSetting up an "ideal" of some sort for women or men to achieve simply serves to aggravate the level of frustration people will feel when they do not achieve it (or maintain it). What is the point of that? If everyone practiced the life of a consecrated virgin the human race would be doomed to extinction! No, of course I do not think it is likely to ever happen, but this reinforces how flawed the "logic" of the idea is. Lets all "keep it in our pants" and see where that gets us!
What ever happened to the idea that people have the inalienable right to the pursuit of happiness as long as this pursuit does not make someone else miserable? What is the point in sacrificing anything in the name of NOT EVEN achieving a simple thank you? If the Roman Catholic Church wants virgins to contribute to society, why doesn't it offer them some form of compensation? Some cash. The church expects everyone to contribute 10% of their income to support all the "good works" it does, so does that mean we should get a rebate for the things it has failed to achieve? Should we get a refund every time a priest is NOT available to give the last rites or bless a new born? Wait, worse than that, are WE the ones paying the fines and settlements for the priests convicted of child molestation? Great!
I think if the church wants people to believe in the ways of peace and do unto others, it need to set a better example for people to learn from. Until that time, his holiness the Pope should do more to praise the "average" achievement of ordinary men and women doing the best they can in a complicated and violent world.
