I am a crafter, but am completely new to nalbinding. Any tips for beginners? Frequent mistakes people make when they are starting out?

Welcome. Beginner tips...hummmm...let me see..
In the beginning, off the tumb works better then on the thumb.
Work with wool, so you can add new pieces just by unraveling the ends and add a new piece with some spit and rubbing :-)
Don't use too small needles or too thin wool.
What kind of stitch (es) do you know now? And where did you learn it? -

Re: New to nalbinding
Fri, March 2, 2007 - 7:32 PMThanks for the tips! I have learned how to do what the book refers to as a "normal stitch" but am still having some troubles with the pivot. I am learning from a book called "Nalbinding Made Easy" by Sigrid Briansdotter.
It's a bit tricky to learn from a book, though I am getting somewhere with it. This definitely seems like a craft that is best passed on from person to person! -

Fri, March 2, 2007 - 10:08 PMI've had trouble learning from still photos and written descriptions too. Under the "Interesting Websites" topic on this tribe, there are some websites with good videos you can watch online. They have been really helpful to me.
