What are you working on at this moment?
I am finishing a hat with red wool in the mammen stitch.
My next project is to learn some new stitches. I found some nice links on the net with video's.

I'm working on the 3 fingered gloves. I'll try to get a picture of them on here soon. I haven't been doing much with Christmas so close.

I didn't realize Romans had used nalbinding. That's really awesome! I put a link on my post in the All Fiber Arts tribe. I think it has several different stitches, but I usually don't do well with written descriptions. The only stitch I know was shown to me by an SCA buddy. But maybe now that I'm familiar with one kind the others will be a little easier to learn?

Anyway, the website has information about sprang, dyes, weaving, and some other arts.

Finally my internet is working and I can reply like I want to!! Currently, I am researching for my Queen's Prize entry. I'm thinking of doing Finnish Viking.....do you know the Eura Dress?? I'm researching ways to use naalbinding and the dress in general. I've got a good sketch going and pretty much know how I'm going to draft it. I'm just ironing out a few details....but I've got to get busy, the event is at the end of January!!

My basic Viking outfit is a T-Tunic and an apron dress. My apron dresses vary a little in pattern and design, but I haven't got much farther than that. Would you describe the Eura dress for me?

Good luck with Queen's Prize! Let us know how your ensemble turns out!

This has some nice diagrams and sketches. The Eura dress is looking very interesting.

Keep in mind that the Eura dress is iron age.

And that the peblos went out of fashion very early Viking.

I've seen ladies at SCA events with Celtic personas wear similar dresses. Since the two cultures share other similarities, was the Eura dress ever popular there?

I also would like to see how the Eura dress may have evolved into the apron dress.

Don't get the two mixed up. The Eura dress is an underdress. A peblos went over that ( in our colder climats)
The peblos evolved in the apron.

As far as I know, they haven't found something that could be a Celtic iron-age long underdress. It was mainly skirts and T-tunics worn underneath a peblos.

I'm working on socks for our friend Lodin now. I think I'll probably finish them today. Remember our discussion about tight-needle-only aka coppergate looking vs thumb method? Well with this two-ply peruvian wool yarn I got it looks pretty tight even though I did it with my thumb, still Oslo stitch. The one-ply brown thinner wool yarn I used on my first socks looks more 'holy.' Anyway they're looking great! I'm so happy with them so far, knock on wood. (inbetween socks I was making a hat using Oslo stitch with froo froo yarn but I've stopped for the moment. Its turning pretty coney-shaped and may turn out to be a witchy shaped hat which may be pretty neat.

As for the thread on dresses, I haven't made mine yet, but I do think I want to do the swedish viking dress patterns from the viking answer lady's website, and for the over dress use indigo/woad colored material. Linen right? Since I read somewhere that they used indigo/woad colors in Sweden.
