Hello, my name is Bo. Last semester, I had the pleasure of taking a philosophy class entitled: "Philosophy of Literature: JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Charles Williams, the Modern Romantics, and the Meaning of Life." I had been a fan of all three, Lewis in particular, for a very long time (as well as a lifelong geek girl), and the title alone had me hooked. I had no idea that the three of them (and others) worked together! Out of the loop, that's me...

It was a very enjoyable class, and the result of it was that I was invited to be in a private discussion group during this current semester, along with about six other students. Each of us will produce a 12-18 page thesis on one of the topics touched on in class, or one we choose ourselves. So here I am. My topic is (tenatively) an exploration of the archetypal objects of power in the Chronicles of Narnia.

Pleased to meetcha. And yes, I saw the first movie, and I enjoyed it. And yes, I got choked up when I saw the trailer for "Prince Caspian" in the theatre. Narnia was truly my escape as a child, and it really moves me to see it brought to life - probably much the same way LotR fans felt!

My favorite book (since the topic was raised earlier in this Tribe) is "The Horse and His Boy", followed closely by "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader".

I'm currently reading "That Hideous Strength", also by Lewis. It's... very British!

Our Tiny Tribe

Narnia is a treasured childhood memory for many. Thanks to the film, many more have been introduced to the wonderful series. The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe did great at the box office, so I know there are lots of potential members for our (currently) tiny tribe out there. So I'd like to ask all of you if you know of other tribes in which I (or you!) could post an announcement letting Tribers know about us. Also, if you have friends here on Tribe.net who might be interested in joining, PLEASE take a moment to send them an invitation And finally, you might know of non-Tribers who love the books as much as we do. This would be a fantastic opportunity to get them to join Tribe.net in general, and our Narnia tribe in particular. Thanks in advance for your help!

I've read some articles that say Prince Caspian has been pushed back from Christmas '07 to Summer '08. Dunno if I can wait that long (as if I have a choice in the matter, lol)! Disney plans to make ALL of the Chronicles of Narnia into movies. At this rate, I'll be seeing the last one for the first time after I'm retired : (
