4/17: this week

News flash for those who did not attend class Tuesday.

1) Today we are NOT meeting online. We are meeting at 2:10pm at COM building room #246 to hear a lecture from multimedia artist Kurt Lancaster on the subject of digital storytelling. Then, sometime later today, send me an e-mail (jon.torn@nau.edu) telling me what you thought of the lecture, with details that prove you were there. If you're reading this at 2:20, just get your butt over there. I'll be by the back door to let you in if you're late.

2) on Tuesday we did a tribe.net assignment. If you havn't done it already, you'll need to catch up. The assignment is a product review. Actually, you must review a range of products.

2a) go to amazon.com and pick a certain type of product. DVDs, books and CDs are obvious choices, but you can also browse clothing and electronics on amazon as well.

2b) Pick 3-5 products that share something in common and compare them. Write a paragraph for each product and include the url where the product can be found on amazon.com.

2c) find a common theme for the post. At least 300 words for the whole thing.

we'll be back in classroom 108 Tuesday. WE will finalize details for your final, so be sure to attend.

Kurt Lancaster is doing innovative web pages. The style of the story telling that he did in New York was different. I like the way his is dynamically designing the web page to be interactive and esthetically pleasing. The themes of the stories were fun. I liked the site about the people who wanted to live on Mars. Personally I want to learn the skills of designing a cutting edge websites. I think that in the future of internet and technology we are going to have to be up to date with knowing how to utilize the digital world to the best of our ability. Professor Lancaster would be a fun teacher to have.
