1.) I have some sneak peaks in video from Tribal Fest. (Great idea that I got a little too late...) I will (hopefully) upload to YouTube as soon as Monday. Sneak peaks that will be available so far: John Compton, SuperKate (You gotta see it), and The Indigo (Yeah baby!).

2.) Unmata rocked the house in the afternoon!

3.) Tonight was CRAZY! And yes, The Indigo was... well... The Indigo...

4.) Went to the afterparty for Maduro's new CD release and Mr. Maduro himself was mixing delicious stuff.

5.) The Beckies (sp?) were better than ever. Shelly, Freyja... You REALLY got back. ;) (You had to be there)

I arrived today at Tribal Fest. Temperature was between 100-109 F during the day and 80's at night. If you are heading this way tomorrow bring water AND something like Gatorade or any sport drink. You HAVE to replace those electrolytes and temperature is not gonna cool off any time soon.

So, 'cause I will write about this soon I will just give you a very brief summary:

1.) Shakra workshop: H-O-T! We learned part of the choreography they will perform during Tribal Fest. You gotta check out. AND... Get ready to order their instructional DVD

2.) Kajira Workshop: Awesome! I got quite a nice practice of fundamental ATS combos and a very necessary zills drill.

3.) Underbelly: This is a documentary featuring mainly Princess Farhana. Very interesting and honest.

Tomorrow I think I will enjoy Sonoma itself, do some serious shopping, and enjoy the show night. I might post some pics later. =) Now, I will enjoy the A/C and sleep... Ah... King side bed for me and a cool room. SO nice...

Good news...
I have a home. YAY! My husband and I officially moved almost a month ago and the place is coming along slowly but nicely. For those who were sending their good vibes our direction thanks. Now back to business...

So-so news...
During the whole moving/cleaning process I injured my right wrist (Flexor tendon if I am not mistaken, the one that runs along my right pinky) so I have been wearing a brace for almost a month and I will be off work for at least 3 more weeks with hand therapy included, so I was taking it easy at the computer department. It is getting better now but I still need to be careful. So my apologies for not been writing.

BUT!

I will be writing. As I have LOADS on DVD's I decided to run a special edition on DVD's and then go Full Throttle with a special Tribal Fest edition. I am going from Thursday to Sunday so for those that I met last year it will be great to see you again, and those who I met through the internet please feel free to say hi. If you appeare/have/know about a DVD I should check out PLEASE let me know.
First of all, thanks for the good vibes. Please keep sending more...

After 23 days out of my apartment I am sorry to say I am not going back, indeed. The damages were so extensive in our building that it will not be available for at least 3-8 months, therefore, all leases were broken, deposits returned and we will be able to get our stuff out in the following week.

*sighs*

We are doing OK though and in an intensive apartment hunting that hopefully will end in the next couple of days. Obviously working on a new Navel is virtually impossible for at least few more weeks. I apologize for the inconvenience and hopefully we will be back on track ASAP.

So, here are some ideas for all of you that are willing to write but no clue about what:

* Fashion - Interview away! People like Melodia, Tempest, Anaar, Jenna Francis, Geisha Moth... Do I need more? If it is on topics itself people is always interested in "How to do...", hints on where to get good prices, styles in cabaret fashion. You can just be informative and explain, for example, what it is a 100% traditional ATS attire or Turkish, etc etc etc.

* Showbiz - Interview organizers, promoters, vendors (not about their products but about their business strategies), orientation on websites, business cards, etc. I would avoid the "how much should I bill" but seems this answer pops in over and over again so well, you can always go back to that.

* Music - This is a good space for new coming artists, local artists, write info about how to pick songs to do XYZ thing (choosing a song to be dramatic, emotional, etc). Talk about music copyrights and dancing, etc etc etc.

* Health - Yoga, stretching, drills, dealing with back pain, toe cramps, etc etc. If you are a Dr, sport instructor, or your Dr or yoga/exercise instructor loves interviews this is a good spot. If you are a little savy in anatomy, explain how muscles and joints work, how to keep them tunned. Also, I am looking fwd for anybody talking about bellydancing and pregnancy and other issues.

If you are from another country write about the style that is predominant there, which regional instruments your country combines with bellydancing, whatever event was there recently (NOTE: If you know somebody or you were at Gothla UK, I want this BIG TIME). Don't limit yourself to the usual topics not these suggestion.

The main source is your own very same doubts that you always had.

Ask yourself and fill the blank: You know what I never heard people talking about? I always wandered...

OK here is the deal:

To get this thing rolling we need to be organized and I am going to be kinda strict about it. All of us, one way or another, are busy people with limited time so we need to be organize and be sure we want to assume this kind of compromise.

Most magazines are entirely run by volunteers with NO PAY what so ever if it is in bellydance, and whatever money we can get back from whatever the source is goes straight back to support the cost of the magazine itself (website hosting and maintenance, copyright fees, etc etc etc). Plus, I am poor, and all I have in excess is probably lint from every time I do laundry (today is laundry day, you can tell).

If you are scared or have doubts about this, it's the right time to stop reading and run away.

If you are still reading:

I think we should classify our writers:
- Regulars: they are in charge of a specific section. It can be either writing the articles all the time or organizing who in their team (if there's is enough writers) is going to write the article.

- Volunteers: these will write either under a regular or in a section but not every month, but for sure more than just 1 or 2 articles

- Collaborators: They will write just 1 article. Press releases, Move for the Month, some reviews will be classified like this.

If this works we might be able to arrange free advertisement for regulars and volunteers. If a regular or volunteer is not interested in advertisement (example: they are not professional bellydancers) we can set up something else. Collaborators can have a special have some kind of favor.

Are you there still?

Now, If you are STILL interested next step should be filling out a form with basic info (I will send that later) and if you have ANY piece of writing (blogs are welcome) to please refer those to me. Writers are free to write about whatever they want but it is highly probable we will have some assignments per section different topics. If you are outside California, local events/dancers in your area will have a little more interest (we will cover all CA events one way or another, I am sure of that one). If you know bellydancers around the world PLEASE spread the word. For now, make sure I have your email address. PM me as soon as possible and if you know which section are you interest in and if you want to be a regular, volunteer, or collaborator.
