are invited to serve on the grant review committee. Anyone who is not
submitting a proposal, has been to Firefly, and can attend the review
meeting is welcome to participate. The review meeting will take place on
the evening of Monday, April 30. If you're interested, please email

-=Call for Ticket Art=-
We would like to feature your art on this year's Firefly tickets! If you
are interested, please submit complete front side designs that feature
your original art as well this information - "Firefly" and "July 5 - July
may be different ticket styles. The ticket size will be 2"x4 1/2".
Submitting ticket art does not guarantee that your art will be used. Email
wagner@fireflyartscollective.org with your designs.

-=Stage Available to a Camp=-
Firefly is home to some of the best DJs, bands, and musicians in New
England and beyond, and this year we have already heard from many new
musicians excited to play for us. At Firefly 2007 there will likely be
several camps hosting musical performances, both with and without
amplified sound.

The Firefly site includes one fairly large clearing with a beautifully
constructed wooden stage, which in the past has served as the "main stage"
for the event. This year the stage area is available to be taken over by
a theme camp.

This is an ideal site for a fabulous camp, and it could be much more than
just a stage. Because it has been a public area in the past, whoever
takes it over will likely be approached by many performers who would like
to play there. It will be up to you to decide whether to host them. If
you do, you'll set your own guidelines for how to respond to their
scheduling and equipment needs. This could be a big responsibility, but
in return you'll have an awesome site and the chance to collaborate with
some amazing musicians. You may go down in legend for providing the
Firefly community with our best musical experience yet.

If you're interested, please write a brief proposal for what your camp
would like to do with the area, and why you feel you're the right camp for
the job. Please send proposals by May 1 to art@fireflyartscollective.org.

-=Volunteers Needed=-
Firefly happens only because everyone who attends helps to make it happen
~ think about how you might like to contribute this year. Are YOU the
perfect person to head up one of these committees?

Leave No Trace

Come to Monday's meeting or post to the Blink list if you're interested.

-=Firefly Mailing List and Tribe=-
There is a Firefly discussion list named FireflyBlink for all participants
in Firefly to exchange ideas and plans. You can join by following this

Damian and I just want to thank everyone who we saw at Firefly! It seems like people were helping us out from the second we showed up. L&L kindly set up a tent for us and did everything they could to make sure we could find them, Steve and others helped push us out of the mud, Ursula's shade structure kept us dry, some kind folks gave us a lift to and from the site...the list goes on and on. Unfortunately, we weren't able to do much more there than exchange wet hugs with people and get slathered in mud, but many thanks for making it as enjoyable as possible!

Hope y'all stayed dry and happy....

I just got an email from a guy named Joshua who is posting an event map on Fireflyblink. This map will feature all the various camps that are setting up at Firefly. If we want to be added to the event map, we need to get back to him today. How serious are we about Shangri-La? Can we pull off a fabulous space that could be added to the event map? I think if we have a nice big tent/screened in space we could do it. Anyone have a tent big enough for Shangri-La? Leonya is suggesting Obi-John's screened in canopy with a couple of huge tarps over it. We'll purchase a big tarp tonight and I think Obi-John already has one.

What are we bringing?

I'll bring three gas burner stoves. A lantern. Tiki torches. An extra tarp. Some glowsticks.

It would be really nice if somebody brought a big tent for common space. I know Shiva is hopefully bringing a screen tent, but an enclosed tent would also be nice.

I wrote somewhere that I can't find now a sugestion that if we all brought some animal print clothes we could be a loosely cohesive group as our wild selves. I know everyone's closet isn't lined with animal print clothes like mine but animal prints are readily avalable!

So please, please let others that you know are going to Firefly know about this tribe as well.

Think of it as sort of a male version of the vulva dialogues from Rites of Spring (just kidding) but seriously.

I realize that food is certainly important, but I’m sure that we will all be bringing some sort of libation as well. If everyone brought a different sort of booze and a mixer we could have a well stocked bar and perhaps even a NEFFF cocktail party at the event. We have two cocktail shakers and couple of recipe books to contribute.

Leonya and I are going straight from Firefly to Spirtfire. I know a few other people are doing the same thing. It would be great to plan a little camping detour in between festivals. One possiblity is Clarenden Gorge in VT. It's where Leonya and I had our handfasting ceremony. There's plenty of free campsites next to a "gorg"eous river (wow I'm full of stupid puns today) and it's near Rutland where we could find laudry/supermarket.

I'm open to other suggestions too.

So far everyone I asked seemed to think that its everyone for themselves, and a little to share with others, is the way we are going with the food.
We have a whole bunch of vegans or vegetarians in our group, so if we could all try to bring vegan food to share, that would be best. Vegan food also doesn't go bad as fast.

Lisa and I are planning on bringing some rice and pasta salads.

Hello my loves,

As Firefly will be my last opportunity to say goodbye to many of you before I return to Chicago, I'd like an official chance to say my goodbyes and express my love for you all.

I'd like to do this Saturday afternoon in the NEFFF encampment, a nice mellow time perhaps with cocktails, probably with a lot of laughter and tears.

Knowing you all has enriched my life in ways both profound and subtle. Thank you. I'm going to miss the hell out of each one of you as I wander off to Chicago for the next phase of my adventures.

Much love,

Megan

Everyone I asked so far stated the preference to camp far away from the music stages. So we'll be trying to grab a big far-away spot upon our arrival.

As soon as you arrive, find a message board by the main cabin, and look for a note describing where the NEFFF camp location is. If there is no such note, make your own note to tell us where you are.

I would also like to find a spot that can accomodate at least a small fire circle. Its unlikely that we'll find a spot like that, but we will try.
