Cambodia Rocks

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/4511348.stm

Cambodia rocks to an old beat

BBC News, Cambodia

With the help of Western musicians and a member of one of Cambodia's most famous singing families, Cambodian rock and roll is undergoing a resurgence in its country of origin.

An other-worldly noise is coming out of my speakers.

I have set my computer to play my small but perfectly formed collection of vintage Cambodian rock and roll.

And what sounds they are - demented, twanging guitar solos, eerie electric organ - and on one track a chorus that solely consists of blood-curdling screams.

It is seriously psychedelic stuff. It is as if Jimi Hendrix and Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd had decamped to Phnom Penh and hooked up with some local singers.

The vocalists are something else again. They soar through the melodies, gulping and hiccupping in traditional Khmer style.

Some of the songs are covers, like a retooled version of Procul Harum's A Whiter Shade of Pale.

Then there is an unexpectedly brilliant take on Middle of the Road's mindless pop ditty Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep that achieves the impossible by making the song seem like a good idea.

The originals deal with everything from bicycle rickshaw rides to the art of flirting while paddling a canoe.

I defy anyone to listen and not be charmed instantly, if not hooked.

We will never know what the Cambodian music scene could have become.

Zac Holtzman
Zac Holtzman and brother Ethan formed Dengue Fever in 2001

Civil war and the arrival of the Khmer Rouge in 1975 saw the musicians leave the country or worse.

Today Phnom Penh is a slightly depressing place for the discerning music fan.

Out of tune karaoke echo around my street at various times of the day.

Live music is largely restricted to shoddy, pop idol-style performances on outdoor stages around the city with sponsorship from cigarettes, mobile phones and gas cookers.

Even the old classics are only usually heard in hideously remixed form.

Rock revival

But if Cambodian musicians of the 60s were inspired by Western rock music, now the reverse is true.

At least in the case of Dengue Fever.

They are a six-piece band from California who have made it their mission to revive Khmer rock and roll.

Chhom Nimol - Dengue Fever
People have been waiting for this. It's a different style, but it's Cambodian rock.
Chhom Nimol
I first met the guitarist, Zac, at a party during Phnom Penh's Water Festival last month.

He has a beard that reaches his chest, which he sometimes plaits.

As we watched the racing boats hurtling down the Tonle Sap river, he explained how his brother Ethan had brought back cassettes of Cambodian music from a backpacking trip.

The two of them immediately hatched a plot to form a band and revive the songs.

They recruited friends from the Los Angeles music scene - mostly experienced session players who had worked with everyone from Beck and the rapper Snoop Dogg to Julio Iglesias.

But they decided that only a Cambodian singer would do justice to the material.

They trawled the nightclubs of Long Beach, home to tens of thousands of Cambodian immigrants, and got lucky.

They found Chhom Nimol, a young member of one of Cambodia's most famous singing families.

Somehow they persuaded her to join the band.

Homecoming

For the past three years they have been performing up and down the West Coast of the States, releasing two records along the way and picking up a couple of awards.

But this was the first time they had come to Cambodia.

It would have been easy just to play to an audience of Phnom Penh's foreign residents.

But Dengue Fever decided to do things properly. Or at least as properly as the local infrastructure would allow.

Map of Cambodia

They rented one of the outdoor stages on the banks of the river in the slum district known as Tonle Bassac.

The sound system looked like it had been cobbled together from a motley collection of domestic stereos.

The unmistakable stench of raw sewage competed for attention with the aroma from bags of rotting rubbish.

Potholes in front of the stage made dancing a broken ankle waiting to happen.

And yet the crowds came, and gawped, at the sight of Chhom Nimol backed by five foreigners playing Cambodian rock and roll.

Traditional musicians joined them on stage to add wild, Irish fiddle-like improvisations on an instrument called the trou.

The longer they performed, the more the audience grew in number.

Chhom Nimol told me how important it was for her to bring back these sounds to Cambodia to show people that they did not have to settle for syrupy ballads and sponsored tripe.

"People have been waiting for this," she said.

"It's a different style, but it's Cambodian rock."

It seems she is right. The day after the Bassac show, the band played a two-hour long Saturday night TV special, and after that they got mobbed whenever they ventured out of their hotel.

Personally, I am just grateful to them for bringing a magical sound back to life.

And I am hoping that some of the people who have fallen for Dengue Fever will take the Cambodian music scene by the scruff of the neck.

There is only so much karaoke one man can take.
American Song Poems

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI6u3w_HOWw

I collect these, too.

http://www.songpoemmusic.com/what_is.htm

People who sent their poetry usually received notice by mail that their work was worthy of recording by professional musicians, along with a proposal to do so in exchange for a fee (early 20th century versions involved setting the words to music and printing up sheet music from inexpensively engraved plates). The melodies were either improvised or recycled and musicians often recorded dozens of songs per recording session using minimal resources, often in one take. Some of the companies recorded new vocals over pre-recorded music backing tracks, using the same music tracks over again hundred of times.

The recordings were then duplicated on 45 RPM vinyl singles or compilation LPs with dozens of other songs by amateur lyric writers, or individual cassette tapes. Copies were sent to the customer. Promises that they would also be sent to radio stations or music industry executives were rarely if ever kept -- partly because the recordings would not have been taken seriously by professionals. The practice played off the intense desire of unsophisticated people, who often lived in remote areas, to realize their ambitions of making money from writing popular songs.

Some surviving recordings of song poems (especially from the 1950s and 60s) gained interest during the 1990s, when they were uncovered and researched by record collectors who sought out old vinyl recordings. For some listeners, unusual, amateur lyrics combined into recordings made by rushed or at least marginally professional musicians almost half a century earlier offer a unique, discordant sound heard nowhere else. The intensity and naivety of the lyrics combined with the workaday listlessness of the musical performances creates a tension which fuels whatever artistic merit may be found in these relics.

Been delving into Yes and found a few albums that really struck me, particularly Close to the Edge (And You And I...ahhhhh....coming quickly to terms of all expression laid....) and Tales from Topographic Oceans. I noticed that in the early 70s quite a few artists were doing whole-album songs and concept albums, only one that comes to mind is Thick as a Brick by Jethro Tull. TFTO apparently most Yes fans aren't fond of it but listening to it, particularly getting used to it and then ignoring it for a month and then listening again all the way through, there are so many wonderful themes being elaborated upon and wow, did they know how to introduce new ideas smoothly and blend them with ideas already posed and create whole new ones out of the unmessy mix created by their not clashing.

Also...OS Mutantes who i almost got to see on their reunion tour when they played at the music fest in chicago that I didn't get to go to, their album which doesn't feature their female lead vocalist, "A e o Z" just blew me away. And why don't more people mention Love, Devotion, Surrender when speaking of either Carlos Santana or Mahavishnu John McLaughlin? And same goes for the one song on santana's "welcome" album, Flame-Sky, which featured these two battling forces, of a half-mahavishnu orchestra-half-santana's band gathering of tribes to scream beautifully...just ranting about awesome music I've been hearing. Listen to Kaki King because she is awesome, even if she is riding the high ticket to mass media.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/07/11/britain.floyd/index.html

Pink Floyd legend Syd Barrett dies
Musician a major influence on British psychedelia

Tuesday, July 11, 2006; Posted: 11:04 a.m. EDT (15:04 GMT)

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Syd Barrett, the eccentric guitarist who founded Pink Floyd but later left the music business to live quietly and somewhat reclusively, has died at the age of 60, according to a spokeswoman for the band.

A spokeswoman for Pink Floyd told the Press Association: "He died very peacefully a couple of days ago. There will be a private family funeral."

The singer and guitarist, born Roger Keith Barrett on January 6, 1946, founded the band in 1965 with Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. (Its name was derived from two American bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council.)

He wrote many of the early hits for the avant-garde rock band, including the 1967 album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and the band's first hit singles, "Arnold Layne" and "See Emily Play."

His songs were odd and charming combinations of childlike lyrics and swirling melodies, often augmented with strange arrangements. The titles alluded to space, the occult and sometimes nonsense: "Astronomy Domine," "Lucifer Sam," "Chapter 24."

Consider some lyrics of "Bike," from "Piper": "I know a mouse, and he hasn't got a house / I don't know why, I call him Gerald / He's getting rather old, but he's a good mouse."

Pink Floyd, taken under the wing of Beatles engineer Norman Smith, had early success, but Barrett, suffering from mental problems and heavy drug use, started demonstrating erratic behavior, including catatonia during concerts. He left the band in 1968. He was replaced by David Gilmour, who had joined the band as its fifth member earlier that year.

Barrett put out two noted solo albums, "The Madcap Laughs" and "Barrett," both in 1970.

In 1975, during the recording of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album, Barrett showed up unannounced at the studio -- ironically, during the recording of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," a song about him. He had become overweight and shaved his eyebrows; the other members didn't recognize him at first.

"Wish You Were Here" was dedicated to Barrett.

Much of British psychedelic music was influenced by Barrett, and a number of musicians have credited him, according to Allmusic.com.

Barrett had since lived in anonymity in the eastern English city of Cambridge. According to The Associated Press, he suffered from diabetes.

The spokeswoman said a low-key, private funeral would be held. She did not disclose the cause of death.

Best Song in the Universe?

Okay, I know. There are a shitload. But let's all list a song or two that you feel EVERYONE should have, no matter their musical taste just because it's so damn good. Or something.

I'm going to say "See See Rider" by the Animals. Only this version qualifies for the "Universe" title so don't trifle with other versions, though there are a lot of great ones out there. This particular song just has so much raw energy. To me, it's the ultimate dance song. But not in an electronic weirdo e-tard kinda way. More like a "I drank a shitload of beer, I look and feel good, my lipstick is on straight, and god damn if I'm not about to go fucking dance my ass off on top of all those peanut shells to this song right now!" kinda way. Well, uh, okay...maybe I'm just projecting a bit. *cough cough*

Another song you have to download (but not quite sure if it's "Universe" material...damn close, but lacking timelessness) is Schaffer the Darklord's "I'm Gonna Fuck My Clone". Very vulgar, but so hilarious. And it has a good beat and you can dance to it. He might be listed as "STD" and the song might be called "Clonefucker".

Those are my two suggestions for today. Anyone else?

RIP: Gyorgy Ligeti

Millions of people have heard the music of Gyorgy Ligeti, although most wouldn't recognize -- or know how to pronounce -- his name.

The music of Ligeti (lig-it-tee, without an accent), who died yesterday in Vienna at 83, was used to convey the eerie strangeness of fresh discovery in Stanley Kubrick's film "2001: A Space Odyssey." Although he did not write the so-called "2001 music" -- those 90 seconds of ultra-familiar grandeur taken from Richard Strauss's tone poem "Also Sprach Zarathustra" -- the furious buzzing of Ligeti's work for unaccompanied chorus, "Lux Aeterna," is the soundtrack for several key scenes, and it is impossible to imagine the film without it.

Another work used in the film, "Atmospheres," shimmers out of silence, its clusters of sound meeting and melding through time and space. One is put in mind of a ballet of clouds, captured in time-lapse photography. Strings give way to brass, then winds, in an elaborate musical process that is as orderly as it is colorful.

There are certain composers whose music we can recognize and identify immediately. It is unnecessary to listen to more than a few minutes of any mature work by Olivier Messiaen or Philip Glass (to name two radically dissimilar artists) to realize who was responsible for its creation.

Ligeti took a different approach, reinventing himself again and again throughout his career. "I accept many different styles," he said, and his output encompassed wild experimentalism (a "Poeme Symphonique" scored for 100 metronomes), orchestral music (a whiz-bang virtuoso piano concerto) and even full-length opera (the apocalyptic satire "Le Grand Macabre").

Because one never knew quite what to expect before hearing a new Ligeti work, his music sometimes startled listeners. Yet this eclecticism allowed him to escape some paradoxical aesthetic traps that were endemic to late 20th-century composition. He insisted that his music was "neither tonal nor atonal" and while he never blithely reiterated the musical language of the past, neither did he strive to be modern or avant-garde at the expense of communication with an audience.

For example, his Piano Etudes (1986) were glittering, glassy and altogether attractive compositions in which one found pretty bows to Chopin and Debussy, the fierce energy and density of Conlon Nancarrow's studies for player piano, some of the richly contrapuntal stasis of Steve Reich, and some of the sheer giddiness of Emanuel Chabrier. Yet it was all channeled through Ligeti's restless, vivid imagination, and the final product was unmistakably his own.

He was born in 1923 and raised in what was then a predominantly ethnic Hungarian part of Transylvania. He suffered under fascism -- his father and brother were murdered by the Nazis and Ligeti spent two years in a labor camp -- and then under communism, which caused him to flee Hungary in 1957. It was Karlheinz Stockhausen, a composer just as original and far-ranging as Ligeti, who brought him to Cologne and helped introduce him to the musicians who would become his peers.

Ligeti visited the United States many times. Unlike many of his contemporaries, he was blessedly free of European chauvinism, and cited the American composers Nancarrow, Reich, Terry Riley and Elliott Carter, as well as sub-Saharan African music, as important influences on his work. Indeed, he dedicated a piece to Reich, who returned his admiration. "Ligeti seems to realize that American music is going to be very different from the European, although it may partake of the European heritage," Reich said in 1986. "But it's not really our job to do what Ligeti does, or what Stockhausen does, or what [Pierre] Boulez does. We are a different continent."

Ligeti was a shy, gracious man who generally wore an air of professorial befuddlement. His stature in the musical community grew exponentially over the years, until he was considered one of the world's great composers. The Italian musicologist Enzo Restagno summed up the early critical resistance to Ligeti: "To their ears, his music had the flaw of being liked by the people, and, according to the self-punishing aesthetics of certain leaders of opinion in those years, it was better not to trust beauty and delightfulness. Ligeti paid no attention: He was involved in projects that were too interesting."

For which we can only be grateful.

Has anyone used the iTunes store? Are there more obscure song libraries I can browse? Any suggestions on what to get? I can't think of anything right now. Monday brain frizzle...

Mine is Wanda Jackson.

From 1956 to 1961, Wanda Jackson produced some awesome rock & roll. However, in the early 1960s events conspired to end her career in rock, and she turned to country music. But her rock & roll records remain as evidence that for a few years a young Oklahoma girl rocked as hard as anyone. She achieved a wildness and energy that was every bit as intense as her male counterparts, and today she ranks as one of the best rockabilly singers ever, male or female.

Some songs are good, but they're overplayed. Others are bad and should never be played again in the history of humanity. The first ones that come to mind are...

"Respect" by Aretha Frankiln
"I Feel Good" by James Brown
Both fine songs, but I wouldn't mind not hearing either for about 10 years.

"Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf
"Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves
How about a 20 year moratorium on these two?

"Celebration" by Kool and the Gang
"We Are Family" by Sister Sledge
Can these be wiped off the face of the earth, please?

Tonight I performed at a benefit for Pirate Cat Radio. I'm so scared of performing in front of people I already know. I sang. I usually produce events but this is what I wanted to do all along, sing and perform. Gradually I'm overcoming my stage fright. I may have an hour of air time on Weds. night. The feedback was good. The next show we do willl be much better. Thank you to all those people who came out to support Pirate Cat Radio. Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart.

I recently got a couple James Bond scores - Man With Gold Gun, Diamonds Are 4Ever and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. All are remastered and sound great. Last night coming home, a track from OHMSS and blew me a way. Actually a lot of this stuff is blowing me away. Sure Goldfinger and Dr. No are classics, but his later Bond work just kicks ass. But the later scores are heaven and I strongly stand behind OHMSS as being his best.

Mine's Barry Manilow's "Could It Be Magic."

It's cuz the music's so good. He lifted it directly from Chopin's Prelude No. 20 in C Minor, Op. 28/20.

This was on my tea bag tag this morning: "Anything too stupid to be said is sung." - Voltaire

Heh.

Here's some more I like:

"To stop the flow of music would be like the stopping of time itself, incredible and inconceivable." - Aaron Copland

“Music is like making love: either all or nothing.” - Isaac Stern

“Without music, life would be an error.” - Nietzsche

"Hell is full of musical amateurs: music is the brandy of the damned." - George Bernard Shaw

"Music makes one feel so romantic - at least it always gets on one's nerves - which is the same thing nowadays." - Oscar Wilde

stars Isabella Rossellini as a double-amputee Canadian beer magnate and Mark McKinney from Kids in the Hall as a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer. The movie is about a contest to find the saddest music in the world. Isabella Rossellini's character puts up a $25,000 prize in hopes that finding and popularizing the saddest music in the world will boost beer sales.
There are three recorded versions that I know of. A single, which rocks, the album version, which is semi-acoustic, and a live record.

Part of the reason I like it is personal, it has associations for me. But also I think it something of a 1980's pop masterpiece.

Funny thing is, I don't even know a single other song by this band.

"Tears"

It's just coincidence
Well you can talk that way
But I have to say
I don't believe in it
And with the chill of chance
I decided to dance the days away
And I wasn't worried at all
Sneaking through the backdoor
No I wasn't worried at all
Dreams are what you live for

Waiting for the light to turn green
Carry me home
To the kindest eyes that I've ever seen
Carry me home
Can you tell me how will it be now
How will it be?

Well we were younger then
And the days were long and slow
But were we wiser then
I couldn't say
I wouldn't know
But I wasn't worried at all
I had someone to run to
No I wasn't worried at all
I knew which way the wind blew
Kicking out the chaos and gloom
Carry me home
I'll watch the ceiling spin round the room
Carry me home
Can you tell me how will it be now?
How will it be?

In the real world how will it be?
In a cold world how will it be?
In a lonely world
(Beg and crawl)
How will it be?
Will the ghosts just stop!
Following me

Now drawn into the sun
He was the only one
He cries out to everyone
For his only son

From the window of my room now
I can see the colour blue now
You can't even look in my eyes now
What would you see
If you could look into my eyes now
What would you see
What would you see
It's a coincidence
You can talk that way
I don't believe in it

Seventeen years ago on April 8th, my husband died. He played guitar in a punk rock band. There are a couple of pictures of him in my profile. Yesterday I got a pm from someone who knew him and was close to him. His band was well known on the west coast. He was a great guitar player and had a big heart. After he died everyone, all of his friends, went their own ways but I thought what are the chances of someone browsing through my profile that knew him ? His band was called The Authorities. Their hit was "I Hate Cops".

Can you recommend some song titles for me? I want some songs that will make me have to jump up and shake my booty whenever I hear them. I have a bunch of Serge, but that's about it. Thanks!!!

Any any other serious ass-shaking tunes anyone can recommend are welcome, too!

I've been doing a lot of driving lately. I can only handle being stuck in traffic if I have music to keep me company. I find upbeat, rocking stuff is the best.

Any suggestions to add to my drive list? I need somke seriously rocking tunes to keep me from going crazy on the way to visit my baby.

Hi,

I just found y'all. Thought you might enjoy these links to sites that share unusual music, mostly pulled from out-of-print vinyl.

And this one, Tape Findings, is particularly off-the-wall. It's described like this:
"This site is an archive of one of a kind cassette tape recordings and
other odd sounds that I have discovered throughout my years searching
thrift stores and garage sales."
I hope these people aren't flakey. I was so depressed after the FCC took down our last station. It was the one thing I really looked forward to at the end of the week. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Webcam gigs get girl record deal
An unknown singer has signed a huge record deal after staging webcam gigs from her basement.

Sandi Thom was signed RCA/SonyBMG after they saw her gigs on the net.

Sandi did the Twenty One Nights From Tooting tour from the basement of her London flat.

She says she got the idea from Sir Paul McCartney.

According to The Sun she said: "I studied at Paul's Liverpool Institute Of Performing Arts. I asked for his advice and he told me to keep it simple. You can't get more simple than performing in your own basement.

"What has happened is amazing. I only went on the internet because I was too skint to put on a proper tour."

Just 70 tuned into her first gig on her opening night on the web on February 24.

But rumours of her gigs spread and by the middle of her "tour" the crowd had swollen to an amazing 70,000 per performance.

A single, I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker, is due out on May 22 and her album, Smile It Confuses People, on June 5.

Like some sexed-up r&b? Or like some seeeexay songs from other genre's? Well list em here...

For me I can't get this particular song outa my head. Muse (from Tribe) introduced me to this and now I'm gettin pissed cuz it has taken up lodging in my brain and won't seem to vacate. The song is by Bob Schneider and is called, 'The Tiger and the Lamb.' Lyrics---

You be the tiger
I'll be the lamb
I'll be the woman and you can be the man
You be the earth
I'll be the ocean
Let's do it baby, put it into motion

You be the tunnel
I'll be the train
I'll be the desert and you can be the rain
I'll be the rain and you be the umbrella
I'll be your bitch and you can be my fella

(Chorus):
Baby we can do this till we get it done right
I'll put the bullets in your gun tonight
I'll put the burger in your bun tonight
I'll put the shine in your sun tonight
I'll put the butter in your rum tonight
I'll put the kingdom in your come tonight
I'll put the some in your one tonight
Baby we can do this till we get it done right

I'll be the puppet and you be the hand
You be the drugs
I'll be the band
You be the drugs
And I'll be the money
You be the hive and baby I'll be the honey

You be the nail
I'll be the hammer
You be a bad girl in my slammer
You be the rumble
I'll be the roar
I wanna do you like you ain't been done before

(Repeat Chorus)

You be the drummer
I'll be the drum
And baby if you call me up I'll wait until you cum

Criteria:

It can't be all preachy.
It's gotta have a hook.
It's gotta stand on its own musically.

This disqualifies all Joan Baez music and all of that genre. No solo folk singer with acoustic guitar, please.

Sky Pilot - The Animals
Army Dreamers - Kate Bush

www.legalsounds.com

They sell mp3's for 9 cents each. Most albums are around a buck. It's a Russian site and apparently they're taking advantage of Russian law to do this. They pay the artists according to Russian law, which I guess is a lot less than they would otherwise get, but it's at least still something.

I looked around their catalog and they seem to be well stocked. The only artist I looked for that I couldn't find was Toog, which thanks to Mary has become my default "obscure artist" to test things like this. ;P

I searched google looking for reviews and only found one negative comment (but very few comments alltogether) which said thier ripping was not the best quality. Later in that forum thread the same person came back and 'took it back' about that....

I'm probably going to try them out. You have to put up $15 "on account" but that's like 150 songs plus you get 20 more as a signup bonus so 170 songs for 15 bucks isn't bad at all....

But I wanted to see if anyone here has experience with them. Anyone know anything about this site?

Sister Kristen bought up a great question.

I have one that I don't know the artist or the name of the song. It has sampling of different tv show's dialog and it says Cookoo In The Cocnut and has cowboy and indian sounds. Does anyone know which song I'm taling about ? It's been awhile since I heard it. It used to come every few days on whatever channel my friend was listening to.

http://omega.med.yale.edu/~pcy5/misc/75bands/75_Bands_upscale_2300x1344.jpg

Careful with this, cuz it can drive you nuts. The names of 75 bands are in that picture (I actually found 80, so I must've found some they didn't intend.) Some of them are very obvious, like the Led Zeppelin and the B-52's flying overhead. Some of them are not so obvious, and some of them are so subtle you'll laugh your ass off once you get it. Virtually every element in the picture corresponds to the name of a band, yet there are still a few elements I couldn't come up with anything for--I'll tell you what those are, because if anyone figures those out then I want to know!

The maniquin floating in the shop window on the left... I got nothing for that. The fern growing in front of the flower cart, front left, I also came up empty on. The three pineapples on the produce stand at the front right rang no bells with me either.

I'll also give you three of the more subtle ones, but won't tell you where they are--U2, BeeGee's, and Janes Addiction are all in there... if you can find them... ;)

Anyone who wants to play just post whichever ones you see, in this thread, one or more at a time. The bands range from the 60's all the way up to current-- some of them are very well known, others less so, but none are terribly obscure.

This is THE best music site on the internet.

www.last.fm

It's a online community sorta like tribe in some ways, but based around music. It's also got streaming radio, listen to your own station, or listen to other members stations, or listen to stations based around an artist (and similar artists). And it is the most incredibly accurate way to find new music that you will LOVE. I'm not even going to try to describe the whole thing because it's huge, but if you're not already aware of it, trust me on this, this is an amazing site with an amazing idea that is well implemented. Their 'musical neighborhoods' concept is so accurate it is scary.

When I first came to tribe it took a bit of exploring for to feel like I really understood what it was all about. This is the same. There's a lot more to it than meets the eye.

I finally learned how to send MP3's in e-mails and how download songs from music blogs. Does everyone else already know how to do this ? What other tricks do you know ?

Music is one of my favorite escapes. I was a dj at a pirate radio station for two years. I'm totally addicted to downloading, importing, and swiping music. It's my heroin.
