How has everyone been? Its been a while since we were rolling on this tribe. Things happened, lost the place we were doing the dinners, and you know...life. But you know, what I see here, in this state, and in life? Is the unsettled feeling of lack of community. And yes, rainbow represents community, but it is just a wave in the ocean manifesting the great sea...community. I see so many of us, struggling...maybe alone, maybe with a partner, and if were even luckier, a loving family and a handful of proven friends. But even still, do you feel that yearning for the tribal family, community? Coming together for a purpose beyond the work, consume, and die aspect of this life. Sacred purpose. Healing the land, healing ourselves, and healing each other. Community offers us so much, trust and support, learning from others experiences, can shape how we face our own challenges. Beating drums and dancing on the earth to free us from our stresses, liberation. Lighting sacred fires to purge. We are in such hard times, powerful, wonderful....but hard times. And for us to evolve and get to where we need to be as a species, we need to help each other, come together, help the earth, the universe. And of all places, we live in an area that we hold great responsability for, a pained land, that needs light and love. So we should all start figuring out things to do. Because everything counts. Im gonna start doing full moon drum circles, nomadic drum circles. Friday is the full moon, I'll be at asbury park beach at 6 pm. And I'm inviting anyone that would like to come drum, dance, hoop, sing, create, pray, grieve, listen or laugh to come out. And please, share any ideas you have, and lets be community.
Love n light!

North East Regional Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes

HOWDY FOLKS! Welcome Home!

North East Regional Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes

August 21st – August 30th, 2009

Mt. Moosilauke in the White Mountain National Forest,
New Hampshire

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

This is a Spiritual Gathering, absolutely Free & Non-Commercial, supported by your voluntary cooperation. We are here to express and rejoice in the sacredness of ourselves, nature, the land, and the spirit that connects us all. Tread lightly, with great respect, as you enter the Cathedral of Nature and join in gathering together for the purpose of expressing our sincere desire that there shall be peace on Earth, harmony among all people.

WHAT TO BRING:
Presently no specific kitchen has made a commitment to providing daily meals so be prepared to be self sufficient or to help manifest kitchen supplies and a crew. No one has committed to putting together a CALM, so bring your own first aid and medical supplies and be prepared to be responsible for your own health. Come prepared to camp and be self sufficient. Bring your own cup, bowl, utensils, and personal water container & water jugs. Bring drinking water and/or personal filtering gear if you can, tents or shelter, camping equipment, sleeping bags, blankets, mats, flashlights and extra batteries, camp shovel, camp tools, rope, snacks. Bring green energy for the magic hat and some bulk food for the kitchens. Bring stuff to share. Prepare for warm days and cool nights. Bring rain gear, layered clothing, hiking footwear, sunglasses, sunscreen & a hat. Bring toiletry supplies including extra toilet paper, menstrual necessities, biodegradable soaps & shampoos, first aid supplies. Bring acoustic instruments, drums. Please bring bags to take out your trash & recyclables. Please remove any trash or recyclables from the gathering site any chance you may get. Cleanup starts when you get there!

GETTING TO THE GATHERING:
You can go on either I-91 or I-93. Unless you are already in Boston, and I-93 is the only way out, think about I-91 even if it looks a bit longer, because I-495 and I-93 near Boston can turn into a traffic jam that takes hours to get through.

From I-93: Take Exit 32 in North Woodstock and go west on 112. Pass the Lost River and Wildwood Campground. Go about a mile further and turn left into Tunnel Brook Road (11.2 miles from I-93 exit).

From I-91: Take Exit 17 in Four Corners and go east on 302. Cross into New Hampshire and go through Woodsville. Continue on 302 for about five miles and turn right on 112. Follow this until it joins 116. In about a mile, 116 leaves again on the left. Continue on 112 for 0.3 miles and turn right into Tunnel Brook Road.

Drive along Tunnel Brook Road about a mile or until you feel like stopping the car. Then stop the car. Then stop following directions. Welcome Home.

(From the USFS) WARNING: An Emergency Forest Supervisor Closure Order prohibits the transport or movement of any species and type of firewood originating outside of New Hampshire or Maine onto the White Mountain National Forest. Individuals discovered with such firewood will be in violation of the order and subject to written and/or oral warnings, tickets, and fines. The order is in response to the threat posed to forest resources by the Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Longhorned Beetle.

Post & share this with all!!! ;-)

ENERTOPIA (Warp Brain Records / Alladin Project - Israel / Argentina / Atlantic City)
Emiliano Solazzi Griminger (Moti Griminger) was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and lived in Beer Sheva, Israel, most of his life. At the age of 18 he was already leading a very succesful Israeli death metal band called CEREBRAL COMA, where he played guitar and vocals, which had mayor success in the international and national underground scene. In 1992, Emiliano hooked up with Ziv Matushka, another pioneer in the Israeli electronic music scene and, together, they started to experiment with more Industrial music and eventually wrote Goa and Psy trance. Ziv joined P.Cok, and Emiliano continued his project as ENERTOPIA. The first single by Enertopia was released in 1996 by B.N.E Israel in a compilation called DESTINATION ISRAEL, and after a few months he was signed by KREMBO Records (Israel). The first full length album was called MAGIC FOR ETERNITY, released in 1997, followed by FACE ADAPTOR, co-written with Yuli Fershtat AKA B.L.T, Perfect Stranger. In between 1996 and 1998 Enertopia released two full albums and numerous singles. His Third album “Divine” was released on September of 2008 on Geomagnetic.TV and it was received all over the world with great success. Nowadays, based in USA, Emiliano has founded “Warp Brain Records”, the first east-coast label of PsyTrance and Progressive trance.

This is a re-post of a project being planned for New Jerseys Gay Pride event this coming June 02009

I'll get the updates and contact info out to ya soon.
Just thought folks here would be interested.

Pedro

----------------------------------------------------------

Hello Alternative LGBTQI folks!
As you can see from this list, I have added a few folks who are also interested (or may be interested) in our Zen Zone. I have also cc'ed Laura Pople, the President of Jersey Pride, who I have worked alongside for 14 years.
I would like to suggest a meeting date. My goal is to only have two meetings and the rest can be done by email. We are all too busy to have more meetings.
The goal is also a 90 minute meeting.
I will make a pot of veggie soup. Would someone bring bread or chips? We can provide water and hot tea and coffee.

Suggestions:
Sunday Feb 1st (This sunday) 7pm (one definite attendee can only come at 7pm or later.)
Monday Feb 2nd 7pm.
Please make other suggestions if these times are not good.

Agenda items:
I. Introductions
II. Status of space availability

III. Discussion of possible activities/use of space:
a. meditation
b. barter market
c. 30 minute workshops (sustainability, vegetarianism, herbal medicine, etc)
d. open discussions-freeform chat space
e. yoga class
f. open mike/non-mike readings and poetry (Pandora)

IV. Honing in on/prioritizing which of these we really can do (some of this will be based on how much space we have)

V. What physical things do we need: tent, tarp? pillows?, boombox?, chairs?, easels, signs/poster with the schedule for outside the space, a fun banner from recycled material. what else?

VI. next steps, next meeting, email address confirmation.

talk to you all soon,
Virginia

A Happy Hippy Hello!

(teehee)

I was walking through the forest & what did I see,
But a little old faerie staring at me!
"Hello," sez I with a shock & a grin,
"Hello yourself," she said, "Do come in."

And just like that, without my feet leaving solid earth,
I found myself staring at a warm cozy hearth,
So there we sat, the old faerie & me,
for what seemed an hour, but was certainly three.

She told me of her life, of her family long gone,
Of thier lands & thier people, thier stories & songs,
Then she gave me a secret, & bade me heed well,
This was not truly Her secret, & not mine to tell.

Then as quickly as she appeared & brought me into her home,
She & all of her place vanished, leaving me to roam,
'Till I happened in here & met you fine folks,
To fill my time with laughter & jokes!

(A bard's tale by me for you penned here right now for you by me!)

Onamous Public Shrines/Alters.

Don't know if I spelled anonamous right but hopefully
it won't prejudice ya'll.

I have had an idea for a while to create small and not so small
public shrines/alters/public art things.
I'm in New Jersey; split my time between New Brunswick and Perth Amboy.

Most of what I have in mind is taking existing features like
the base of hallow trees and using them like the
niches of a chruch.
Found small "caves" in a stone wall that makes up a
train tressle in New Brunswick and thought it would be cool to
insert tiny Buddahs in them.

There's also a small mound of dirst under some trees visible from the side walk with
a fine stone on the side. Though it would produce a p[ositive effect to
move the stone to the top,
plant a rose bush at the base and put an image or arangement of
cinder blocks as if it were a japanese Garden Lantern.
Or perhaps something to hold bird seed to feed the local wild life?

Nothing one day then a shrine with the sun rise.

I'm looking for suggestions, assistance and especially encouragement.

Pedro of New Jersey.

the shift and the hundreth monkey effect

The Shift And The
Hundredth Monkey Effect
by Owen Waters

The Shift is the awakening of humanity’s heart. This transformation of consciousness, the greatest one ever recorded, first became apparent in the mid-1960s and has been building momentum ever since.

The Shift is a collective transformation consisting of the sum of each individual’s step into the New Reality. Each person, in their own time, is moving forward into a stage of consciousness which brings a wider vista and an awareness which springs from the heart. When enough people’s primary attention becomes focused through their heart chakras, then the ‘hundredth monkey effect’ will occur.

The Hundredth Monkey Effect was first introduced by biologist Lyall Watson in his 1980 book, ‘Lifetide.’ He reported that Japanese primatologists, who were studying Macaques monkeys in the wild in the 1950s, had stumbled upon a surprising phenomenon.

His book was soon followed up with a deeply inspired work by Ken Keyes in 1981, called “The Hundredth Monkey Effect.” In this, Ken Keyes made an impassioned appeal for an end to the Cold War and its policy of mutually assured destruction. Here, in the words of Ken Keyes, is a description of the key elements of the Hundredth Monkey Effect:

“The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years.

“In 1952, on the island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but they found the dirt unpleasant.

“An 18-month-old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in a nearby stream. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates also learned this new way and they taught their mothers too.

“This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by various monkeys before the eyes of the scientists.

“Between 1952 and 1958 all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes to make them more palatable.

“Only the adults who imitated their children learned this social improvement. Other adults kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes.

“Then something startling took place. In the autumn of 1958, a certain number of Koshima monkeys were washing sweet potatoes -- the exact number is not known.

“Let us suppose that when the sun rose one morning there were 99 monkeys on Koshima Island who had learned to wash their sweet potatoes.

“Let's further suppose that later that morning, the hundredth monkey learned to wash potatoes.

“Then it happened!

“By that evening almost everyone in the tribe was washing sweet potatoes before eating them.

“The added energy of this hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough!

“But notice.

“A most surprising thing observed by these scientists was that the habit of washing sweet potatoes then jumped over the sea –

“Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop of monkeys at Takasakiyama began washing their sweet potatoes.

“Thus, when a certain critical number achieves an awareness, this new awareness may be communicated from mind to mind.

“Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of people know of a new way, it may remain the conscious property of these people.

“But there is a point at which if only one more person tunes-in to a new awareness, a field is strengthened so that this awareness is picked up by almost everyone!”

Lyall Watson had originally researched and assembled the story from the available testimonies of the primate researchers. Because the phenomenon took the researchers so much by surprise, they had not counted how many monkeys it took to trigger this effect. So, Watson proposed an arbitrary figure of ninety-nine monkeys, and said that one more, the so-called one-hundredth monkey, would then provide the critical mass of consciousness necessary to trigger the effect.

The new behavior pattern spread to most, but not all, of the monkeys. Older monkeys, in particular, remained steadfast in their established behavior patterns and resisted change. When the new behavior pattern suddenly appeared among monkey troupes on other islands, only a few monkeys on those islands picked up on the new idea. The ones most receptive to new ideas started imitating the new behavior and demonstrating it to the impressionable younger ones. Thus, they too began their own path towards their eventual hundredth monkey effect.

How the Hundredth Monkey Effect Works

The mechanism for this transference of ideas works the same way for monkeys as it does for all sentient beings. We exist within an atmosphere of global mind. The human brain is constantly receiving and transmitting mental pictures and information to and from that mental atmosphere in which we are immersed.

The global mind, otherwise known as Jung’s collective unconscious, does not cease to function because a few skeptics don’t like its effects. It functions just like it always has, passing information from one individual to another based upon their common frequency of consciousness. If progressive monkeys had a new idea, then so did other progressive monkeys on other islands. They resonated at the same frequency of consciousness.

Inventions often occur at the same time by inventors who are not in physical contact with each other. For example, in 1941, Les Paul designed and built the first solid-body electric guitar just when Leo Fender of Fender Musical Instruments was doing exactly the same thing.

Have you ever had an idea, then seen other people express or use that idea. You probably said, “Hey! I thought of that first!” Well, that’s the way the global mind works. It’s an atmosphere that you share with all other sentient beings, but you tune in especially to the particular topics and frequencies of mind that interest you the most.

What This means to The Shift

When enough people have gone through their personal version of The Shift to the new consciousness, then a critical mass will form and suddenly everyone will become aware of the New Reality and its heart-centered values.

That is the day when heart-centered values will become the focus of everyday thinking for the vast majority of people. That is the day when humanity will begin to look back on what has changed and realize that a massive shift has occured.

me, papa, lil baby Irie, and our puppy dog piggy-o are looking for a place to call home. central jersey preferred due to work. were pretty simple. we'd prefer a 1 or 2 bedroom, but as long as we can fir our bed and iries crib, and have a private bathroom and private kitchen, were pretty set. we cant afford more that 650 a month.. maybe 700$. also, credit is bad!! no credit check. security deposit is no worries. also, we can several omnths up front since credit is bad to prove bills will get paid. i realize our guidelines are a little excessive, but credit cards at 18 have made it difficult at 23. i just want a safe, warm place to bring Irie home to at night. any ideas, suggestions, offers, etc. let me know!!! love and light, Jamie, Irie, Sean, and Piggy-o

Cultural Mayhem Experiment

This is reposted from my new blog, which you can visit at
http://culturalmayhemexperiment.wordpress.com/2008/03/31/hello-world

What is the Cultural Mayhem Experiment?

A hell of a lot of things, but this phase of it involves artistic process and display.

I always wonder how different people create their art and how they might work differently if they brought a different type of scrutiny to the piece. I also find every stage of creating art just as fascinating as the complete project, and though often early works are not technically spot on, I have found myself working pieces to wonderfully polished turds of technical propriety, devoid of grace and true emotion.

So, I am asking artists to consider this idea: Showcase your pieces as they are being made, or post a speculative review upon completion. To aid discussion and understanding, the completeness of pieces will be designated as Pre-alpha, Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate, or Gold. This rating system is based on the software release cycle designations in current use, but not a direct comparison. For example:

Pre-alpha: a VERY rough rough draft of a work, or preliminary stage.

Alpha: Rough draft, but fairly coherent, key elements have been mapped and the basic shape exist

Beta: Work is still in process and structure is emerging, major changes are possible and the work is being polished.

Release Candidate: The darn near final draft. At this point all major concerns have been addressed and all that remains is final polishing and minor adjusts.

Gold: It is done and over; just wrap it with a pretty bow.

This article at Wikipedia may also help you understand
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softwa…..ase_life_cycle

Interested! Cool, please contact me and let me know that you are in.
Questions? Ask.

A full explanation of the system applied to art will be available. . . when we make it! But for now

FURTHER DETAIL ON THE SYSTEM

1. Every piece does not need to go through every stage.

For instance you do not need to post every sketch you do as “fursketch_Pre-alpha work , and the difference between a Release Candidate and Gold may just be your mood. I almost never actually record Pre-alpha work except for in my head or scraps of notes about a composition

2. Each Designation Stage may have multiple Builds (or Variants)

Part of this cultural experiment is to allow the artist and receiver to examine process and significance. By acknowledging the moment when a piece moves into a new stage, or retaining it’s stage status, this helps us communicate how the artist is interacting with the work.

2. Stages are Subjective and designations are up to the individual artist

If you feel that something really is in the Alpha stage, and your buddy says you got to bump it to Beta, go with your gut, and remember:

3. Designations may be changed

However, I ask that you exercise a fair amount of caution in changing designations long after the fact. Only if it’s REALLY the right thing to do, do it. I DO expect you to change designations A LOT in the short run.

Ok, I have more to say, but I want to hear what you think.

Over and Out
AJ Mars

p.s. If you decide to do this on the web, please put the words "this profile is part of the Cultural Mayhem Experiment" or something like that in there somewhere. That would make me feel really nifty, and maybe we can spread it around the world and find other experimenters this way.

Tonight Tuesday 8th of April.

On the evening of Tuesday, April 8, 2008, skygazers will see the Moon move very close to The Seven Sisters, or also called the Pleiades. People of North America will have the best position for the viewing.

The western night sky will be the stage for the spectacular event as a 12% crescent Moon moves into conjunction with the Pleiades (pronounced PLEE-ah-deez). “Into conjunction” means that the Moon will appear along side with the Pleiades. At least, on Earth it will appear that they will be side-by-side.

In actuality, the Moon is about 238,000 miles (384,000 kilometers) away from Earth, while the Pleiades are about 400 light years away, where one light-year is the distance that light travels, on average, in one Earth-year while in the vacuum of space: about 5.88 trillion miles (9.48 trillion kilometers).

And, a “12% crescent Moon” means that approximately twelve percent of the Moon, as seen on Earth, will be illuminated by the Sun (while about 88% of the Moon is blocked out from the Sun's rays by the Earth).

For the month of April, the Moon will be “new” on April 5, at “first quarter” on April 12, “full” on April 20, and at “third quarter” on April 28.

The Pleiades, also called M45 and SED, are an open cluster of young stars in the constellation of Taurus (the Bull). There are about one thousand confirmed members of the group. A picture of the Pleiades appears at "NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day."

i dunno what it is about me lately, but all i can think about is gettine me a border collie puppy. ive had 2 dogs in my life, smokey, who was a keeshund, was our dog when i was a litte little kid, he was a cool dog and tolerated myself and my slightly older brother samuel SO VERY well. but he was when we were very young and we had to give him up when i was bout 5 and we moved to a home that wasnt really suitable for him.
so we went a loooong time without a dog, untill one christmas we all asked for a puppy. i wanted another keeshund cause of the fond memories of smokey. mom and dad and santa had another idea. they were at the pet store (this was just before the puppy mill stuff broke, i will NEVER get a dog from a pet store, dont start with me!) and they had this litter of border collie puppies and one of the puppies picked them. us. its great how dogs always kinda end up picking you in circumstances like that. well, they fell in love and we had a puppy for christmas. he was named murphy. i miss the shit out of that dog. he was awesome. one of those dogs that was so happy that you were home that he wouldnt just wag his tail, he would wag his whole ass. a dog that loved you so much that he would hop up on the couch next to you and nuzzle hisself under your arm. he was silly and funny and so sweet and i taught him to to spread um ^.^ a dog that when you were upset and cryoing he knew you needed love and would sit next to you and let you hug him and cry into him.
we had to let got of murphy too. thats the most painful memory, they way it went down hil.. border collies are herding dogs, they need to be running constantly or theyll lose it! we were forced to move into a SMALL apt with no yard. we were all depressed and no one seemed to have enough time to walk the murphman anymore..... plus we werent supposed to have him anyways. so he started getting resentful, and we started getting resentful.... and then one day, without even letting us say our goodbyes, mom took him to the aspca.
i miss my murphy dog a lot.
i guess thats why ive been obsessed about getting one these days. i guess the guilt of how it went for him has finally got to me and i want to make it right by getting another border collie and doing it right this time. thats and theyre wonderful dogs ^.^
someday soon i will have me another murphy dog and all will be right with the world.. untill then, ill snuggle with my stuffed murphy dog that Lim Bless gave me and pretend its a puppy ^.^
what about you guys? you have puppies? you miss former puppies? you want a puppies? i wanna know!
dogs are possibly the greatest companion in the world (next to a sloth of course) whos youre companion?

Crocuses blooming

Green Daffodil leaves growing

Two cold calloused hands

[PUMA 02-09th-02008]

When I saw the crocus bulbs I planted yet again
piercing the leaves of the past Autumn
I thought to myself yet again, “But it’s not yet spring.”

I used to see the Vernal Equinox as the start of spring but
in the Japanese tradition the Vernal Equinox is not
The start of spring but springs peak.

Look at it this way.
The Winter Solstice is the longest night of the year.
From that day onward the days begin to grow longer.
Winter begins to wane and spring asserts itself more and more.
This is in keeping with the Taoist view expressed in the Yin Yang symbol.
The circular image with one dark form and one light has a spot of the opposite color in each. If you don’t know what it looks like, just do a Google image search.

The dark area is referred to as Yang (Man, Light, Out Going, Sun, Mountain Top) and the light is Yin (Female, Dark, Inward Going, Moon, River Valley.)

It is said that the Yin Yang symbol developed after a pre Taoist mystic sat and observed a hill from dawn till dusk. In the morning one side of the hill was illuminated while the other was in shade. As the day progressed that which was in shadow was in the sunshine while the other side was dark.

People in the West tend to separate both Yin and Yang.
Yet neither Yin nor Yang can exists with out the other
except as an abstraction.
The lit candle on the window during the day is Yin to the Sun.
When the Sun sets the candle is yang and the stars are yin.
When the moon rises the candle is again Yin and the Full Moon is yang.

From this perspective on the day of the Vernal Equinox
Spring is yang: dominant, while summer is Yin.
After that day the summer grows more Yang as spring becomes more Yin.

Nothing exists with out its correlative “opposite.”
We exist in a reality composed of
a unity of difference.

Polar principles

Ingredients in what’s real

Hot coffee, Cold milk

I posted this in reviews but wanted to double up here since it is a nice day today and people might want to get out for a hike. Tripod Rock is a giant boulder perched up on three smaller rocks. It has amazing spiritual energy and JUST SO HAPPENS to create an alignment on the Summer Solstice. The energy is there year round and it is a short hike. It is near Boonton in Morris County check out www.tripodrock.org for more info. Seems like a nice place for a day gathering with Jersey Fam . . . .

So, everyone saying it, brought me to post it. What to do, what to do? I've gotten a few messages, privately, claiming harassment by moonbeam, and cries for deletion, obviously done off the boards, because we have seen what happens when we say anything to him. Whatever ya'll feel should be done, or not be done, will be done. This issue is getting real old, real quick. This is really not what this tribe should be about, and once we get this resolved we can get back to the loving, cuddle puddles and our helping each other grow spiritually. I thought it was under some sort of control, and some headway was made, but I was mistaken. He has continued to attack our family, on and off the boards, mostly off the boards now. So lets come to a consensus, as our last consensus was met with even more resistence. I, personally, do not know what to do. Yea, we can ignore him, and just let him continue, but what kind of precedence does that create? So let us come together in council, as a family, and find a course of action to these subversive tactics seemingly bent on creating discord within this tribe. It may appear overkill, but some of you are not aware of the intense drama this is bringing to other members on this tribe who are being singled out by moonbeam, as several have brought it to my attention in confidence.
LOVING YOU!!!!!

Georgia Guidstones

ok so .... my friend wikipedia an i where just relaxin when i came across this .....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgia_Guidestones

first of all why have i never heard of this ?!
second Why have i never seeen them?!
can anyone else smell a road trip???????

if you dont ahve time to get to the page or are other wise lazy or WHATEVER
heres a bit of copy an paste for ya

A message consisting of a set of ten guidelines or principles is engraved on the Georgia Guidestones in eight different languages, one language on each face of the four large upright stones. Moving clockwise around the structure from due north, these languages are: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Ancient Chinese, and Russian. The message in English reads:

* Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
* Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
* Unite humanity with a living new language.
* Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
* Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
* Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
* Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
* Balance personal rights with social duties.
* Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
* Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

A shorter message appears on the four vertical surfaces of the capstone, again in a different language and script on each face. The explanatory tablet near the Guidestones identifies these languages/scripts as Babylonian Cuneiform (north), Classical Greek (east), Sanskrit (south), and Egyptian Hieroglyphs (west), and provides what is presumably an English translation: "Let these be guidestones to an age of reason."

Lovin you !!!

Hey lovelies,

I'm Becky nice to meet you! I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself and tell you all how happy it makes me to see family in new jersey. I am just waking up to the family buzz and its gooood. I think i'd like to share a story about my night tonight with you all it that's ok.

Tonight I went to co-op across the street from my apartment and a man played a drone. He just let his speaker drone. Then a drummer joined in, and another and another. Then he gave out instruments to all of us and we all started playing what ever was happening and singing and chanting and screaming and the lights went out but we kept going. As it slowed and we settled, we all shouted with joy. I think this moment along with many others made me thankful for everything, and still in awe of it all.

thanks for listening, and being loving, and being living

There.

I kicked it's butt. The anti-love demon that was running through my veins, this tribe and the world at large.

His butt don't stay kicked for long though, we need to take turns. C'mon I know a lot of you are pacifists, but the anit-love demon doesn't count.

I tried being nice, offered cookies, he told me he was gluten free and peed on my carpet.

I offered chocolate, he said no milk, dark chocolate, no caffeine. Soy substitute mixed with the scrapings of an african dung beetle that somehow tastes like chocolate. Then he hit me that he is straight up vegan. And clocked me in the nose.

I offered to go to the grocery store with him and have him pick out his favorite treat, it would be my treat to him. He claimed modesty, couldn't accept. Gave me a wedgie.

I asked him if he wanted to play backgammon. His ears perked. But then he refused when he saw the set wasn't hand made. Claimed it was uncivilized. Vomited on the set for emphasis.

I asked a few more things, none of which pleased him. I left.

I went to pick up the paper at a corner store. Then I saw him, and kicked his ass.

He was sitting on his car in a parking lot outside a diner, eating a gyro. slurping on a chocolate milkshake and playing backgammon with oreos,.Half were missing a side so the filling was exposed to make white pieces. He was licking the filling off the other half.

He tried to run when he saw me, but tripped on his gyro when he dropped it.

I knew then that was truly an anti-love demon, and the only thing he was good for was an asswhoopin. Trust me, it was one of those moments when you just know the right thing to do.

I thought in the past that the way to deal with him was to be nice and kind and just generally overwhelmed by his presence. But now I know better.

I took his milkshake and poured it on his head, grabbed his gyro, tugged on his pants and poured greasy hot lamb meat onto his genitals. Took the oreos and scraped his face up good. THen I took his cheap dollar store magnet set and smashed it on his mean, nasty, melon. IT broke on the third hit.

Then I pulled him up to his feet and put my knee right into his sac, turned him around and booted him in the ass.

At that moment, and for three eternal seconds, there was bliss in the world. True bliss everywhere. Some of us felt it more than others, those who let themselves be open to it felt it most, but everyone felt a little better, for three seconds.

Then the anti-love demon cold-cocked me.

When I woke up, my face had been covered in lipstick and my ass had been superglued shut. The anti-love demon takes revenge seriously. But it was worth it.

If we team up and take turns pummeling him, maybe he'll see that we just want to hang out, have fun, raise kids, you know, be human.
The seconds of bliss will turn into minutes, maybe even hours.
Maybe we can capture him and hide him in the basement, deprogram and reprogram his anti-love psyche.

Nah, you know, you pacifists are probably right, we should probably just let him be, let him come to terms with the world in his own good time.. Otherwise we would just be a world of people who constantly get sucked in by the machinations of those who just want us to be miserable. Despite the bliss we would all feel guilty about pounding on the guy, even if he deserved it.

I love you anti-love demon. I don't like or respect you, but I'll still try to love you.
AJ

Most of you have only met me once, so I wonder if you remember me. but for what it is worth I am back.

I started the new year off right by getting quit-fired from The Home Depot. They don't like it when you don't show up for a few days, being awfully depressed, and not calling them to let them know you won't be coming in. Asked me for a doctor's note. Whatever.

I don't consider the five years I spent their a total waste, but I can now say that leaving work that makes you hate everything is everything, it's the only thing.

I am not zipping about like crazy trying to get hired though. Instead I am putting my health back together and writing a book. And dabbling in the world of electronic music promotion. More on all that later.

For now hello, and expect me to be posting regularly from now on.

Oh, by the way, I now have my own place in the Edison area, off route one by menlo mall. Anyone want to visit, work together , party, shoot the shit, let me know. It's a basement in a regular house, so nothing too crazy, though they have yet to complain about any noise, so that's cool. A few couches and I keep the place pretty tidy, for a creepy artistic bachelor anyway.

Gee, I sound lonely. Not really, it's just that i am tired of having to go elsewhere to hang out, no one comes to my apartment, but then again, I only recently had the time to start getting it organized and hospitable.

Peace to everyone, sorry for the rant. Ah, screw it, I aint sorry for the rant, most people seem to like it when I rant.

RANT, RANT, RANT!

I just found this quote and I thought of you

Hanlon's Razor: ``Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity''

I know it's not new but it rocks

only, the razor suggests no solution as to the cure, or riddance, of said stupidity.

does anyone want to help me put together a drum circle?

lets have a gathering.

at this moment right now i am reaching out to all, with love. Where's the family energy of the owl, as the night falls into the city of Newark, I glaze the horizon of fabricated metals gleaming at the sight of the setting sun. The world in all of its despair has not resisted growth, for even the greens grow through the cracks of the sidewalks. People we are all in this together. I would like to meet new kin, have a gathering of drums and dance and love. Come together...

Much of what they keep finding plays out like a stellar version of a violent Quentin Tarantino movie.
The violence surrounds and approaches Earth, even though our planet is safe and "in a pretty quiet neighborhood,"
said Wheeler, author of the book Cosmic Catastrophes.

One example is an approaching gas cloud discussed at the meeting Friday.
The cloud has a mass 1 million times that of the sun. It is 47 quadrillion miles away.
But it's heading toward our Milky Way galaxy at 150 miles per second. And when it hits,
there will be fireworks that form new stars and "really light up the neighborhood," said
astronomer Jay Lockman at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in West Virginia.
The giant cloud has been known for more than 40 years, but only now have scientists realized how fast it's moving.
So fast, Lockman said, that "we can see it sort of plowing up a wave of galactic material in front of it."

It will hit a part of the Milky Way far from Earth and the biggest collision will be
40 million years in the future.

** MISSION 1 **

I apologize if this is a post you see in other Tribes. I'm trying to get the word out.

I've started a new Tribe called The Practical Starseed. With it, I hope to reach out to those who are interested in becoming more proactive in preparation for all the changes we're experiencing, culminating in end of the Mayan calendar, 2012. I will be posting missions, simple tasks that can be carried out by anyone, that are meant to help us become practicing members of the cultural evolution.

Bellow is the first post of the new tribe. If you find it useful or intriguing, I welcome you to join the tribe:
tribes.tribe.net/thepracticalstarseed

Congratulations on joining me in this never-ending battle to make a difference, in ourselves and in our world.

Every so often I'm going to be posting missions up. Naturally no one HAS to do anything, these are just suggestions for putting some of your spiritual energy into motion.

If you've ever felt the need to stand up, and do something with the enlightenment you've been given, these missions are meant to be a step in the right direction.

Some of them will involve introspection, some will involve learning, others yet will involve participating in your community or environment. All of it will strengthen you.

Mission 1: Open Your Eyes
Objectives: Enforce your identity, create a place for yourself in this world.
How it will help: Strengthen your consciousness, and the world's consciousness.

It's time we all realized what's going on around us. It's time we open ourselves to the outside world, because if we can't hear the voices of the earth around us, how can we hope to begin answering questions? The earth's, or our own.

You should know that there are thousands of us... more of us are waking up each day. People like you and I start their lives wondering why they feel so different from the rest of the population. We soon begin to feel as though we're barely human, and that we don't belong to this world, not truly. We open our eyes at different points within our lives, and realize - we are not alone.

The world is changing. So what's supposed to happen in 2012?

"The Maya believed that, at the end of a cycle, time momentarily ends and the laws of the world are suspended. " and the legends speak "of the individual soul and the world soul being linked", finally revealed to us at the end of time. - John Major Jenkins (www.realitysandwich.com/maya_s...mology)

The central idea is of cosmic consciousness, that somehow, our universe as a whole is connected, and that we as a part of it, are never just observers, but are participants, molding reality by our very existence, and with our desires and feelings. But there are many possibilities for 2012. It may just be that events are being set into motion that will allow notions of cosmic consciousness to come into the mainstream. Perhaps it will become acceptable the merge science and spirituality. Perhaps humanity will be allowed study the mind, and study the psyche, and find the ways in which we affect the universe, and use it to the advantage of all. Who knows though, maybe war, maybe catastrophe, maybe judgment.

No matter what happens though, you must open your eyes. See what's happening on all levels. Pledge to yourself that you will become an active follower of events, of reality as we know it, and seek out the things that only enlightened individuals such as ourselves can acknowledge and appreciate. When you can do this, you become an active member of the world, and you participate in its change. By forming feelings and ideas about our world, you are part of.

Pedro's Nude Potluck

Hey all.

HAvn't posted anything in a while so here's a catch up for ya'll.

I'm still nomadic and have been spending most of my time in New Brunswick.
Got a slot on an internet radio station.
The site is www.HearNewBrunswick.Com
I think I have made enough mistakes on my internet radio show to start inviting guests in.

The winter Solstice will be taking place the end of this week so I thought Sunday the 23rd of December would be a good chance to re-start my quarterly Nude Pot-lucks.

I used to invite friends and they would bring
food or drink for about 5 people and a
story to tell. (Funny and/or Profound.)

They didn't have to be nude. Most kept there boots on, some wore a hat.

There's room for four people in the studio though I think we can squeeze in about 7.
We have a limited number of mics though.

I have at least One friend who's down for it. Another two have expressed an interest.

Right now I need to think about what I'll be cooking.

Later.

Oh yea...
The shows I have done so far are archived on the site. Just look for my name in the list of show titles: Pedro Angel Serrano

That's all for now.
"Old Man Pedro"

Wood Smoke Dangers

Hi Folks.

Hope this thing doesn't come across as spam.

If it does, let me know and I will delete the thread....

Got bad asthma...and wanted to let folks know about wood smoke and asthma...in case they are burning some and have kids with asthma, close neighbors with asthma, etc...

neighbors have decided to burn wood all day and night...

my breathing is really taking a nosedive....

eyes getting red too...

there used to be a time where you could go to your neighbor - "hey, my kid has bad breathing, would you mind lightening up on the wood smoke?" And the neighbor would apologize to you! saying, "gee, I am so sorry, I hope he is ok. We don't need to use the fireplace, don't worry." Now, in our society that has placed willful ignorance on the mantle, instead of some basic human decency, much less Judeo-Christian values of caring and charity, now it is almost an honored achievement to tell other people to jump in a lake...

here is the letter to the editor of my local paper...

We have all now come to learn of the dangers of second hand smoke. Here is the webpage about it from the American Lung Association:
http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?c=dvLUK9O0E&b=35422

There is another kind of "second hand smoke" that enters our lives. It is from other forms of combustion. These include the burning of leaves and wood smoke.

Combustion is combustion. The problems that it produces from cigarettes is not significantly different from that produced by burning wood. If our society has now recognized the health problems of burning cigarettes, it is not too far of a leap to extend the concern to burning wood.

This website illustrates some of the dangers:

http://burningissues.org/car-www/index.html

I used to love the smell of burning wood. Now, as one of the many victims of asthma in our society, it is no longer a luxury that I can afford.

Asthma affects approxiametly 20 million Americans or about 6.8% of the population. In XXXXX, with a population of about 54,000, that figure works out to be about 3700 people. Though, since XXXXX is in a highly industrialized area, the figures are probably higher.

And here is an article which notes that wood smoke aggravates asthma:
http://www.thereporter.com/letters/ci_7435068

Quoting from the article, "It is well documented that particulate matter pollution can adversely affect lung function and is a health hazard for those with asthma and lung disease who cannot go outside during the winter when neighbors are burning wood."

In addition to its dangers outright, we already have 70,000 chemicals in our air and water, adding just that extra bit of smoke to already very polluted air. There is quite a bit of belief that rising asthma rates are related to pollution.

The science gets debated for many reasons, some of which have nothing to do with science, but with the agenda of those doing the testing. The chemical industry does not want to be legally responsible for causing asthma and other illnesses in people. They sponsor science to disprove the connections.

Everyone loves the beauty of a fire on a cold winter night. In XXXXX, with at least 3700 people with asthma, in an already polluted environment, this could significantly impact the breathing of people right next door to you.

Whether it is a small child or an elderly person, or just someone with particularly bad asthma whose breathing will be affected, I urge members of the public to consider restricting or eliminating burning wood.

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

Native American history needs retelling

Thanksgiving portrays stereotypes that some find offensive
BY LINDA DeNICOLA Correspondent
November is American Indian Heritage Month and also the month when people across the country remember the Native Americans who are part of the Thanksgiving story. But some Native Americans are not happy about Thanksgiving because the stereotypes of their people are often caricatures and don't reflect the complexity of the tribes and nations that lived on the lands that stretch across this country long before the Europeans settled here.

ANDREW MILLER staff Helen Rende, Marlboro, vice president of the Intertribal American Indians of New Jersey, stokes the fire at a discussion and demonstration of Native American customs and crafts at Thompson Park, Monroe Township.

"For many American Indians, the holidays are bittersweet. On the one hand, it's wonderful to get together with friends and family, but all that joy is overshadowed by the assault of stereotypical images of Indians that begin to appear on TV, in newspapers, and on greeting cards around Halloween and continue throughout Thanksgiving.

"It's very painful," said Helen Rende, who is a Kahnawake Mohawk and vice president of Intertribal American Indians of New Jersey, (ITNJ), a group that is dedicated to educating the public about Amer- ican Indian culture, and history. ITNJ provides programs for schools, corporations, universities and health-care organizations.

ANDREW MILLER staff Examples of Native American jewelry, authentic and fakes, were on display.

She explained that the Kahnawake Mohawk is a nation as opposed to a tribe. By definition, tribe refers to a group of people of any size who have no specific rights, while nation refers to people who, over centuries, occupy an area, have and speak the same native language and have had their government in place since time immemorial. They know who their people are and where they come from.

ITNJ meets monthly in the log cabin at Thompson Park in Monroe. Last week, the discussion focused on an article written by the prominent Native American writer Michael Dorris, "Why I'm Not Thankful for Thanksgiving."

Dorris says in his article that feasting was an important Native American cultural tradition. He noted that it is most likely that there had been a Thanksgiving feast with Pilgrims and Native Americans, but it would have been the Native Americans who prepared the meal of pumpkins, turkey, corn and squash.

He writes that "Thanksgiving, like much of American history, is complex, multifaceted and will not bear too close scrutiny without revealing a less than heroic aspect. Knowing the truth about Thanksgiving, both its proud and shameful motivations and history, might well benefit contemporary children. But the glib retelling of an ethnocentric and self-serving falsehood does not do one any good," he writes.

Mary Anne Ross, whose husband was Lakota, said she lived on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota for a while. Although she is not a Native American herself, she has been closely associated with them, and her children are part Lakota. She noted that there are still about 500 different tribes and village groups that speak about 140 different languages.

"I did volunteer work in South Dakota and got used to the Dakota Indians, but when I came back here and met Mohawks, I realized that they are a very different group," she said.

Ross added that most people don't know that each nation is a separate ethnic group with its own culture, even though there are some commonalities.

"They each have their own identities. But Thanksgiving kind of glosses over that and many of the horrific things that happened to the Native American people," she said. "Thanksgiving shows the Pilgrims and the Indians getting together. But it doesn't show what happened afterward when there was a lot of fighting with the Indians and Indians were massacred.

"The stereotypes are very painful for my friends. It discounts what the American Indians suffered within this country," she said.

According to the Web site NativeAmericans. com, when the Europeans came to America, there were probably about 10 million Indians populating America north of present-day Mexico. It is believed that the first Native Americans arrived during the last ice age, approximately 20,000-30,000 years ago through a land bridge across the Bering Sound, from northeastern Siberia into Alaska. The oldest documented Indian cultures in North America are Sandia (15,000 B.C.), Clovis (12,000 B.C.) and Folsom (8,000 B.C.)

Although it is believed that the Indians originated in Asia, few, if any of them, came from India. The name "Indian" was first applied to them by Christopher Columbus, who believed mistakenly that the mainland and islands of America were part of the Indies, in Asia.

When the Europeans started to arrive in the 16th and 17th century, they were met by Native Americans who regarded their white- complexioned visitors as something of a marvel, not only for their outlandish dress and beards and winged ships but even more for their wonderful technology, i.e., steel knives and swords, cannons, mirrors, earrings, copper and brass kettles, and so on.

However, conflicts eventually arose, especially over the land, which, for the Native American, has its own rhythms and spirit. Nature to the Europeans was something of an obstacle, even an enemy. It was also a commodity: A forest was so many board feet of timber, a beaver colony so many pelts, a herd of buffalo so many robes and tongues.

According to the Native American Web site, the Europeans brought with them not only a desire and will to conquer the new continent for all its material richness, but also brought with them diseases that hit the Indians hard. Conflicts developed between the Native Americans and the invaders, the latter arriving in overwhelming numbers.

At the last ITNJ meeting, member artisans demonstrated the differences between genuine American Indian arts and crafts and false imitations.

"We want people to understand why it's important to know the difference. American Indian arts and crafts are actually protected through federal law," explained Brenda Davis, treasurer for the group.

Intertribal American Indians of New Jersey is a nonprofit organization that also provides social activities and support to American Indians living in New Jersey.

"We feel it's important to educate the public to counter stereotypes. We develop presentations to meet the needs of our audiences, using different modalities. Sometimes we may do a craft workshop, a demonstration of dance and music, a lecture or film presentation. Our programming for schools meets the curriculum guidelines for grades K-12," Rende said.

InterTribal American Indians of N.J. is an organization, created circa 1980, to meet the needs of American Indians from across North and South America who are now living in New Jersey. Members have represented nations including Mohawk, Cayuga, Seneca, Cherokee, Delaware, Apache, Lakota and Hopi.

Programs include language (Mohawk and Lakota) speakers from different reserves/reservations, on current issues affecting American Indians, and American Indians representing different professions

and agencies discussing

their purposes or possible opportunities.

On Dec. 15, the public is invited to a demonstration of American Indian toys and stories about Mohawk holiday celebrations. Children will be encouraged to make an American Indian item.

On Jan. 19, during a presentation called "Winter Games," families will learn about the Snow Snake and how and why snowshoes were made.

United States
Its that time again, a little late, but still about that time.

So instead of the norm, I’m also honoring my 24 years of survival (the anniversary of this was on the 9th.) Gifts of awesomeness are not required, but are appreciated and accepted. This is rather short notice, but if you can swing by for a little bit, it would be truly awesome. It’s going on from noon to dark, with some kind of after party somewhere I’m sure. Bring as many or as few people as you like. I love meeting new people, as do all of my friends.

So if you’ve been to my bbqs before, you know the drill. I’m poor. It’s potluck. I’m grabbing some burgers, dogs, and of course, my chicken wings. Apparently they’ve become notorious. What I ask of you is to bring something as well. Beverages, desserts, chips, soups, sammiches, charcoal, ice, whatever you like. What I do ask is that if you bring something, bring it with the essentials (like spoons and bowls for soup, or cups for soda, buns for whatever meats... really, its not that hard) Try to be creative. I’ve noticed far too many people bring more burgers and dogs. I don’t have any vegetarian/vegan friendly food, so if you are of said lifestyle, plan accordingly.

This is an ALL AGES event. Kids are encouraged. Toys to play with are encouraged. If you've got instruments and wanna bring them that's farkin rule. If we’re still there come dark, burners, feel free to light up. Just be warned I’m not sure how legal it is. The cops usually think its cool or say ’knock it off’. As for drugs and alcohol, this is a public park. The rules say no. So if it’s not seen, it doesn’t exist. So yeah, swing by. There’s crash space at my house if you’re coming from afar, (just forgive the mess. we’re in the process of moving) Call me (908-251-1497) if you get lost/have questions. I can’t wait to see you all!

(xpost)
What: I want to get drunk cuz its my birthday sunday and I'm not gonna be here. So come get drunk with me.

When:
07 Sep 2007, 09:00 PM
Where::
Murphys Crocodile Inn
102 Woodfern Rd
Branchburg, NJ 08853
United States

So i'm 24. almost. Its enough of a reason to get drunk, right? It's short notice, so I won't be horribly heartbroken if you can't make it. I'm planning my annual bbq for next weekend, but tonight if you feel like coming out, this is where I'll be. It's a farmhouse bar, nothin fancy, a little hard to get to, but a great atmosphere. Google the address. or mapquest, or whatever you use to find it. I must warn you though, that the bridge may still be out. If that's the case, then the directions are as follows...

From Amwell RD/514:
Make a right onto River road(3 way stop sign). Pass the bridge that is out.
Make a LEFT at the detour sign (Pleasant run road)
At the end, make a LEFT onto Maple Ave. (firehouse on the right)
Take the RIGHT before the bridge (Main St)

Neshanic Inn will be ahead of you kinda in the road, kinda on the right.

If you're coming from the opposite direction, just be safe and when you get to Pleasant Run Rd, make a right and follow the directions I just gave ya.
If/when you get lost, call me (908)251-1497

OR:
meet me at my house around 8, we can caravan it.
please come. I'd love to see you all

PWEEEEZE??? I'll squeeze you and give you kisses and wubbies!
hOwdy Folks !!!! Oregon Regional Rainbow directions - Find your way home!

www.welcomehome.org/rainbow/index.html (this shows the Oregon 1997gathering, which is the exact location this year. ) The directions are taken directly from welcomehome.org.

Howdy Folks,

Welcome Home to the Oregon gathering in the Ochoco National Forest from September 11, 2007 until September 23, 2007. Seed camp begins September 6, 2007.
For more information, contact:
groups.yahoo.com/group/mountainspirit
or call 240-863-6250 or email mountainspirit@yahoogroups.com.

Where the Ochoco Gathering in Oregon will Be.
The 2007 Rainbow Gathering is in Ochoco National Forest at a place called Indian Prarie in central Oregon. (between Prineville and Mitchell)
From Prineville:
Take hwy 26 east towards Mitchell. Make a right turn onto hwy 23,(this road is not marked, but is the next two lane paved road after the reservoir, a few miles out of town, to the right) which later turns into hwy 22 and continues to Walton Lake. Soon after the lake, turn left onto FS 150, a dirt road. Go a little ways till 150 ends in a T. Go right onto FS 2630, and continue to the parking lot and Bus Village.
From Mitchell:
Take hwy 26 west towards Prineville. A little ways past the Bandit Springs rest area, go left onto FS 2630. This later becomes FS 2210, and 2630 becomes a less maintained road. Follow FS 2210 to hwy 22. Turn left onto hwy 22 and follow past Walton Lake. Soon after the lake, turn left onto FS 150, a dirt road. Go a little ways till 150 ends in a T. Go right onto FS 2630, and continue to the parking lot and Bus Village.
More map details
This is right near the Bridge Creek Wilderness area, and north of the Big Summit Prarie. I can see several springs on the map. Sortof behind the site is the Mt. Pisgah Lookout. It looks to be no more than 6000-6500 feet in altitude.
For general information about the Rainbow Family and regional events, please first look around an unofficial family website- go to Welcome Home at
www.welcomehome.org or email rob@welcomehome.org

What is a Rainbow Gathering?
Carla's Gathering Basics
What follows is my take on it. No one put me in charge (thank goodness), so you may get other answers from other folks that add or subtract stuff - but basically I think most folks will be in agreement with what I see as being the basics for a gathering.
It is free and non-commercial. This means no entry fee and no money charged for any service at the event (food, medical, etc.). There are people at gatherings who hang out with the barter circle and essentially have a commercial trip going either with trade or cash, but this is their own personal trip and has nothing to do with the actual set-up of a gathering. I personally consider these folks in violation of the basic spirit of the gathering and wish they would go away, or at least put away their trade goods. But since we have no cops, no courts, and no jails, they continue to do as they please, over the objections of many but also with the support also of many. Anyway, with the exception of these folks who are taking advantage of the free space, you shouldn't find any commercialism at a gathering whatsoever.
Rainbow gatherings are non-aligned both spiritually and politically. There is no one right religious or spiritual belief; people of all faiths are welcome to come gather. Often, people from specific churches or temples come set up their own camp and feed lots of folks from their kitchens (the Krishnas and the Bread of Life Christian camp being the most notable). There are no hassles towards any church group proselytizing or trying to win converts - if people want to listen, that's their own business.
Rainbow also does not support any specific political cause, party, issue, or candidate. Many people come to gatherings to recruit for their own specific Peace Walk, Drums around the Pentagon, environmental action, or whatever; but again, that is their own trip. They certainly have the right of free speech to spread the word about whatever event they are sponsoring. But they do nothave the right to call it a Rainbow event or claim they have support of the Rainbow Family. If they do make such claims, they are ripping off the Family name. Folks involved in such actions have every right to also mention, if asked, that yes, they consider themselves to be Rainbows. No reason not to fly your colors, especially when you're doing something you consider a good cause and are proud of being involved in. You just can't say that your event (protesting logging the rainforest, for example) is a Rainbow protest as such.
We have no leaders. We operate by consensus process. No one is in charge, we have no board of directors. For many regional events, a small circle of people often initiates the event, and the circle grows and becomes many. All the labor of getting the gathering together in a safe and healthy manner is done by volunteers.
The only rule we have is that of peaceful respect. That actually encompasses a lot, when you stop and think about it. Sure, no one can tell anyone else what to do, but if someone builds an unsafe fire under a tree, they will hear about it (hopefully in a sweet way) from many people who are worried about the safety of the camp. We like to say that everyone is Shanti Sena (Peacekeeper). The idea is to communicate in such a way that folks doing something non-peaceful, non-respectful, unhealthy, or unsafe will see the error of their ways and choose to get with the program. When something really out of line occurs (a violent individual hitting someone with a club, for example) a Shanti Sena council (consisting in the ideal of all interested parties, as well as some experienced folks from the Shanti Sena Clan to give guidance and physical safety) forms to deal with the issue. If the victim of the violence wishes to press charges, the incident is dealt with accordinly, and the Shanti Sena folks cooperate in turning the perpetrator over to local law enforcement - a controversial move, to be sure, but in some cases unavoidable and sometimes even desirable. If no one wants to see the local authorities involved but a person is considered a danger to the safety of folks in camp, two options are commonly turned to: someone capable of handling the situation volunteers to accompany the offending person 24 hours a day around camp; or the person must leave the gathering and not come back that year.
As per a standing consensus by the Rainbow Family Tribal Council, we don't apply for or sign permits. With the new group use regulations instituted by the Forest Service this year, this has become a difficult position to hold. One regional gathering signed a permit and gathered under a different name than Rainbow. Weird, and lot of people were angry at the folks who signed the permit, but what are ya gonna do? Take away their hippie cards? Anyway, theoretically,if a gathering has a permit, it is by definition not a Rainbow Gathering.
Also, by long tradition, we do not gather anywhere but public land. Occassionallythere may be focussed councils (Thanksgiving Council, regional councils) that happen on private land, but gatherings themselves are always held on public land. Again, if it happens otherwise, it is by definition not a Rainbow Gathering, though the event may be very rainbow in nature otherwise.
We take responsibility for every aspect of the gathering, from set-up to clean-up. We don't ask for help bulldozing roads, getting donations from local charities or food banks. We are self-sufficient in every aspect of our gathering, and responsible for ourselves. Most important, when the gathering is over, many people stay behind to totally clean up the site. No janitors are paid to clean up after folks. Gatherers are expected to use the recycling center set up on site and to pack out what they packed in. The clean up crew takes out all trash to recycling centers and to landfills, then restores and rehabilitates the site. This may involve scarifying the earth to loosen up compacted areas, filling in ruts caused by vehicles, water-barring hilly areas, and reseeding the ground. All shitters and camps are disappeared and naturalized. This is a lot of work folks! If you've never stayed for cleanup, you've never really done a gathering. This is not a dead lot - this is real, this is a labor of love, and it's one of the only reasons, both karmically and politically, that the powers that be haven't put the ax to us long ago.
A Rainbow Gathering is not a rock concert or a platform for speakers. If cars are allowed in the gathering area proper, and if there is amplified music as a central theme, it most certainly is NOT a Rainbow Gathering (the drive-in gathering in Texas was an exception, as we were not allowed to close the road).
If it were up to me to define it, I would say this is the most important aspect of the Gathering: It is a free assembly of individuals who come together to practice peace. The focal point of the Annual Gathering July 1-7 is a coming together in a large circle, each person praying silently in their own way for peace. Most of the regional gatherings also set aside a day for the Silent Circle. A Rainbow Gathering is not a party, although partying certainly happens. It is not just a big hippie campout, although there are lots of counter-culture and new-age types camping in the woods. It is not just the world's largest love-in/be-in/ smoke-in, although a lot of that certainly goes on. For me, without the element of prayer we might as well not gather at all. For me, without the element of the Circle in which we participate, we mights as well have a hippie convention at the Hilton. For me, without the practice of Peaceful Respect and continuing attempts to create harmonyamong each other and all beings of the Earth, me might as well give up any pretense that the human race is evolving.
So, does that make things more clear? You'll probably get as many different answers as you will people answering. Good luck sorting it all out. The annual Rainbow Gathering of the Tribes will take place in the Northwest next July - Oregon or Washington. Stay tuned for directions, which will probably come out about amonth before the gathering!
Love and Light,
Carla

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Not an offical document of any kind by the Rainbow Family. This invitation is my own creation, and as such only represents my own ideas. In no way does this mean I or anyone else represents the Rainbow Family, regardless of what the Family wingnuts say.

My humble apology

to all the poor unfortunate weeds that ive had to kill in the past couple of days.
im sorry weeds... its not that i truely have anything against you or dislike you...youve done nothing to me...except some of you did stab the shit out of me.. but its not your fault, its a defense mechanism, i understand.....
its not even that im angry that your trying to steal all the nutrients from all the "prettier" plants around you...i could really care less, i mean, survival of the fittest right? youre just doing your thing....
and acctaully i find many of you very fascinating and neat, you do weird things ,oh weeds in general, and ive had a first hand look at what you do best in the past couple of days.... and ive become quite fond of you in a sense...
so why the sensless murder of you and your bretheren?
because i was told to...
like a nazi yes yes i know ive heard that one, and i get it... but.... common now!! theyre even giving me money!!
money to play in the dirt!!
ALL DAY!!
so this is my public apology to you, weeds, and to gaia because i know it does hurt her to kill off her children so readily, but.... i hope you will accept this formal apology and the knowledge that i do feel really really bad for it, and i swear the next chance i get, lemme tell you nature!! boyyy are you gonna get some sort of lovin oh yesser!!! because i love you ^.^ and im sorry i hurt the weeds that didnt deserve to die simply because some woman with lots of money thinks that youre not as cool as all these other plants she has and wants so she gonna pay some random young person a load of cash to pull all of you up....
im gonna need to plant a couple of trees by the end of the summer to make me feel better about myself
I LOVE YOU GAIA!!!!!

and i love you family for hopefully chuckling at my need to make an apology to teh weeds
but i do feel really bad

i lvoe you all!!!!

They have been writing music together now for one and a half years, after initially deciding to formulate a back-2-back set in December 2004, their conflicting styles brought about the synthesis of a new collaboration, that month they furiously created their first 7 tracks which met with great success at their début in the Liquid Connective Trance Room December 31st 2004 and it’s been onwards-and-upwards ever since.

They bring 18 years of a love of trance music and dancefloor mayhem to their live sets, which are getting rave reviews wherever they are given the opportunity to unleash their unique brand of full-power psychedelic having-it dancefloor pounders!!!

I have a beautiful idea and I need you. This summer, help me forge a jersey shore musicians' collective. I am looking for all kinds of musicians, poets, singers bellydancers,... whatever. I want to find people that play crazy instruments, people inro all different styles, and I want all of us to come together and produce prolific pieces of music. This could be a fantastic opportunity to network and start your own projects as well. Not to mention the fun and fellowship. the first meeting to establish this collective will be in Manasquan within the next few weeks on a date tba soon. It will be whenever is best for everyone interested. It will probably be in the context of a vegan\veggie potluck, limited libations to accompany.
So everybody, bring your music, bring your poetry, and most importantly, bring your asses, and be prepared for a good time.
I have also been talking with some people who would like to incorporate visual art with this project and I say fuck yes to that. So feel free, nay, compelled, to bring art supplies too. let me know what you think.
Love
W

You can read the full text of the bill at http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=hr110-333. Also on govtrack.us you can find links to contact information for any representative in the house or senate.
Ok, I bought with some help from my friends two Bose L1 Model 1 PA systems.
They are awesome. They can be used as monitors and a PA system at the same time. because they are placed behind the musician. No mixing board, you hear what the crowd hears.

They fit in the trunk of a car and are very light, but very powerful. They are also expensive.

So, if you know anyone, including yourself that would like t rent an awesome sounding space saving PA system, let me know and I will work out a deal. They are suitable for live bands and great for a DJ. Check them out athttp://www.bose.com/controller?event=VIEW_STATIC_PAGE_EVENT&url=/musicians/products/l1_systems.jsp

They will be awesome for outdoor parties as well as indoor, take minutes to set up and will liven up any party. Let me know.
Help?

*taken from my blog a few days ago*

My basement. It needs to be emptied. I got about 2 feet of water in it this monday because of the storm and my sump pumps failing. *sigh*

About 70% of crap down there is destroyed. Most of it is material things that, tho it sucks, can be replaced. But its the littler things... There's beta tapes of me and my biological parents somewhere down there, pictures of us, of the family... art and art supplies, books I was read as a child... all sorts of things.
Anyhow, I need your help. Starting monday, I'm going to be going into the basement, bringing things up into the yard that need to be thrown away. I'm renting a dumpster, and just gutting everything. My mother is a packrat, and you would not *believe* the amount of crap we have. After the basement, I'm moving on to the garage. Crap will be thrown out, Not needed's will be sold, and hold-on-to's will be organized. I mean, it all had to happen eventually, right? This flood just kickstarted it into action.

If *any* of you could call me, and possibly swing by to help, I would be forever in your debt. I don't have much money, but I can feed you and give you beer. I'll be working from noon till dusk clearing ish out. Please call/text me and let me know if you can help/are coming over. sleeping arraingements and showers can be provided if/when needed. I thank all of you in advance for helping, or at least sending good vibes out.

*in case* you don't have my number, its (908)251-1497 tis my cell, call anytime. I think I may have internet now,I just have to fix one small quirk. in theory. so your best bet is to call.
Again, I am lucky to have friends like you in my life. You are what makes it so beautiful and worth living. Thank you

Ok, so it would be cool to have a family dinner, not this weekend coming up but the weekend after. But in being rainbow and maing sure most of us can make it, what day is better?
Friday night-april 6th
Saturday day/night-april 7th
or Sunday day/night-april 8th

Cast your vote, let us all discuss, as this is the first potluck of the spring, weeeeee. I love spring almost as much as I love all of you. And spirit willing it will be warm enough to do drum circle. How does everyone feel about a nice whole day fam dinner?

The philadelphia family has a great gig, drum circle once a week. Who's down with doing that too? I love drumming, who else is feeling it?

And anyone else that knows of good space for a nice rainbow camping weekend, or even another place to do dinners, speak up, it's getting warmer, time for us to break ourselves out of our cocoons and give lotsa love to gaia and the rest of the human race. I'm missing all of you.
LOVIN YOU!!!!!!

I have been desperately trying to make my backyard more inviting for years. It has great potential, alas, I am but one lonely freak.

I would like to Invite folks over to turn my bacyard into a possible ongoing project. {Pedro, you were talking about a spot to love}

when this would start would need planning. I also have a chiminaya that we could burn wood in at night and even cook with. Camping out is a possibility.

I would love the help and your company even more.

Tell me what y'all think.
