I don't know where you're located so I can't help you with specifics, but I would say start connecting with others in the community and see what's available.... munches? good for meeting others in a relaxed environment.... classes at your local dungeon? another good choice... is there a group near you that has a mentoring program? Here in the Bay Area we have the Society of Janus and I have heard many speak highly of their mentoring program. There are also books, but I would recommend the live face to face help over any book if you are super new.

Well, it sounds like you may go a little overboard with your sarcastic snipness and it disappoints him. I'm not a quiet little mouse. I still get to voice an opinion and by myself but I do it respectfully and talk about stubborn.... Maybe evaluate what it is you are doing specifically that isn't working out for him. You may not have to "completely change" who you are but you apparently you are willing to change something or you wouldn't be asking for advice.
