ARADIA PRESENTS: Tools to Strengthen, Execute and Evolve your Fusion Dance 12-2pm
- Have you asked yourself any of the following questions?
I want to do something different with my dance, but I’m not sure what.
My base is in Egyptian Cabaret, but I really want to try/get into Fusion.
How can I translate what I already know into a more modern/alternative/fusion dance?
How do I make a Fusion Performance idea look as good in person as it does in my head?
I want to learn to BellyDance, but I also know what I don’t want to look like.
I want to perform a Fusion piece, but keep getting stuck.
In this workshop, we will touch on several useful tools which will:
* Strengthen our private practice
* Provide a fresh perspective on choreography and combinations
* Plant seeds for the execution of effortless improvisation
* Promote the evolution of our base technique into personalized elements of fusion.
Prior dance experience will be very helpful in this workshop, but is not required. Standard movements, present in all forms of BellyDance will be used in their original forms, and then layered, warped, twisted, drilled and personalized. We will move from our comfort level, using different theories of movement and non-traditional music.

STAB PRESENTS: Poi Technique Workshop "Dude, I only know five moves..." 3-5pm
Let Sally the Altar Boy show you how to work a basic, limited vocabulary into a fun, easy performance that can flourish into a solo or be used with your favorite dancer. In this workshop we will:
* Learn to(gasp) move from one spot!
* Learn to separate your basic butterfly, weave, and corkscrew into a funky groove!
* Learn how to not look like a broken record by spinning some transitions designed to be tricks themselves!
Some poi experience highly recommended.
Who:
Aradia is the Artistic Director and a founding member of Zingari East Fusion Dance, based in Rhode Island. Since its inception in 2000, the collective has sought to push the creative envelope with their performance pieces, incorporating various styles and fusions of Middle Eastern, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Rave and Break-dance as well as showcasing the talents of its ever-evolving members who spin fire and glow poi, hula hoop performers, ballet dancers, drummers, comedy/variety acts and whomever else might want to jump on our wagon and go for a ride to far off and exotic places.
Joshua Lapan ’s soul was ripped from his body by a higher power and replaced by Sally The Altar Boy in Rhode Island about 7 years ago. After a brief solo career Sally met the stygian queen Aradia and joined the tribal dance collective Zingari East. Since then Sally has performed in clubs along the eastern seaboard with the cult sensation - using New England as a springboard for their plans of world domination. His performing and dancing is will known to cause shock, panic, awe, hallucinations in the elderly and children, the sudden need to buy glow-sticks and in extreme cases it has been linked to a state of euphoric epiphany.
