Timing of the faire

Hey all,

I just want to make an observation as to the scheduling of all the regional faires. Now that Pastimes moved their King Arthur Faire to July and Vermont delayed their faire by a month, the earliest faire in the general area is in June. Once more, those sites are in Connecticut (ISD Festival near NY border), New Jersey (New Jersey Renaissance Kingdom), and Pennsylvania (Medieval Majesty - new faire). Anyhoo... I think that being the last faire is a great way to close out a season. However, if this trend continues with all the faires clumping together in the Summer/Autumn what's the opportunity to attract more patrons if we're slid on the other end and become the first faire of the season? Again, this is not an opinion of mine.. just an open topic of discussion based on my own agitation as a patron to have to wait for a faire to attend.

    Hi Doug!

I understand what you're saying and, even though I can't stand the summer heat, there is one gliche to moving the faire... the site we're using is a summer camp. :) So, unless we move, (which I'd really hate to, the site has gotten great reviews and the owners have been more than helpful), we're stuck to the date we have.

I took a vote, after the last event, about moving the date but most folks said they liked the date and being able to wear their warmer garb. :)

So, just my 2 cents, thanks for the note! )O(

Ayup... and I voted for Autum just like most of the rest of us. Heck, it's a great time of year... plus being the last faire of the year has some prestige and benefits as well. All things considered, I'm with holding it in the Fall as well (it's my favorite time of year anyhow). My discussion point was to bring up the change in this year's versus last year's schedule. Everybody else is shying away from the pre-June dates. So, logically, it would stand to reason that a faire in May would hold some attraction given renfolk would be in need of a place to spend their winter money.
