Updates and prepping for the 2007 NH Renaissance Faire!

Hi all!

Before we get on with the updates, I have a request for folks that would like to help us out a little bit with the faire. We will need a few more, dependable, volunteers to work in the morning and then have the afternoon off. This will get you free admission for at least half of the day and will help us get some more people-power! :)

If you'd like to help us out, and we greatly appreciate it, in advance, please contact Marghi and Bob, they are the volunteer coordinators: grounds@nhrenfaire.com they'd love to hear from you!

Onto the updates! I just updated a bunch of areas, again! Here are the ones I did today/tonight:

the main page: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/06NHRF.html, (I think I'll be revamping this completely within a few months) Please note the faire info. hotline! :)

playtrons: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/playtrons.html

acts: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/acts.html

merchants: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/merchants.html

activities: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/activities.html

I am also, slowly, updating the sponsor banners... the new ones look like flags blowing in the wind, (or, at least, that's what they're
*supposed* to look like! :)

Lots of great stuff in the works! It's getting close now. :D Hope you like the links, thanks for looking!

Hi all!

Thanks to all of you that braved the elements to come out to our 2006 faire, (which was hit with a "monsoon" on Saturday and winds in the 30-40mph range on Sunday)! We had to move things around a tiny bit but, on the whole, the faire was a success and you all made it possible!

I have finally gotten a chance to post all of my 2006 pics. They are on the website; http://www.nhrenfaire.com/06NHRF.html , (click on the slideshow to see them all), as well as on our MySpace account; http://www.myspace.com/nhrenfaire I also have a bunch of photos that I just got from a few patrons that are wonderful! I'll post them ASAP. I'll also try to add some here.

Thanks again, please keep yours eyes on the site, updates will be happening throughout the year! )O(

Hi all!

My apologies on the delay in posting. I have been busy doing two events, Anime Boston and the PortCon and, online, have been getting involved with MySpace. The group has a MySpace account now, (MySpace seems to be quite a happenin' place!), please feel free to add yourself there if you'd like to: http://www.myspace.com/NHRenFaire I, personally, have an account for myself and my business: http://www.myspace.com/che4u

I hope you're all well! Please make sure to check the website for updates, we have a few more merchants and lots going on! http://www.nhrenfaire.com

Sponsors, advertisers and volunteers are still needed to help this charity event get off the ground again this year, every little bit helps! Please check out the sponsorship/ad page to see how you can help: http://www.nhrenfaire.com/sponsor.html

Thanks for your time, hope to see you soon! )O(

Hey folks,

I know this will be a haul for many of you, but if you want to have a look-see into the parade experience the Connecticut folks are having an open invitation to march in their New Haven CT faire. I'll be there (barring bad weather), so if anyone else has the gumption to take a road trip, let me know and I'll make sure to say hi.

I just wanted to thank you for inviting all of us into your home to discuss the preliminary plans for the faire. I hope that all of us came away with ideas to make this year's event even more of a success than last year.

We touched on most of the important points: venue ,theme development, casting and entertainment, concessions, vendors, marketing, and logistics. That is quite a boatload of tasks to be undertaken by our gracious host so I hope that everyone who is able to devote resources to aiding Shannon in this endeavor does their part. If we all assist her on this, this venue will grow and prosper. This will, in turn, benefit all that have gotten involved during the fledgling development of what's turning out to be a faire with it's own uniquely appealing theme and atmosphere.

I'll see you all a the next developmental meeting... and any subsequent casting and plot meetings as well.

Okay, here's a question for the meeting on Friday:

What's the format of the meeting? Informal? Official?
Should we bring snacks or something?
Should we expect to take copious amounts of notes?
Should we come armed with a whole slew of questions?
Is this a preliminary planning meeting or are we coming into something already underway?

Ooo.. now that I look at that, it's more like five questions and not one.

Hey all,

I just want to make an observation as to the scheduling of all the regional faires. Now that Pastimes moved their King Arthur Faire to July and Vermont delayed their faire by a month, the earliest faire in the general area is in June. Once more, those sites are in Connecticut (ISD Festival near NY border), New Jersey (New Jersey Renaissance Kingdom), and Pennsylvania (Medieval Majesty - new faire). Anyhoo... I think that being the last faire is a great way to close out a season. However, if this trend continues with all the faires clumping together in the Summer/Autumn what's the opportunity to attract more patrons if we're slid on the other end and become the first faire of the season? Again, this is not an opinion of mine.. just an open topic of discussion based on my own agitation as a patron to have to wait for a faire to attend.
Marketing through parade participation

Hey all!

Here's a neat trick that both Connecticut and Vermont are doing to drum up patronage:

They find a parade going on in some town local to their event and they volunteer to march in it. Vermont does Brattleboro's Strolling with the Heffers and Connecticut participated in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Hartford. I'm not quite sure of the logistics of such an undertaking, but it seems a great way to get some exposure to the local populace for no more than the bother of getting a bunch of folks together in garb and spending a day at the parade. Any thoughts? Is there an opportunity up there near Kingston?
