So.....

....we started a discussion, but it went approximately nowhere, leaving me more or less in charge. Let's change that, huh? I propose that each month a different person does the scheduling. This person is responsible for signing up the people to run the jam that month. They also remind the people that signed up when their shifts are nigh. Occasionally this person may run more than one jam a month if there's an unfilled Sunday- but that should really be the exception. Once signed up, if someone has to get out of their Sunday shift they must find their own replacement.

For four people, that would result in each person running the jam roughly once a month, and scheduling it only every four months.

So who do we have? Seems I can't completely extricate myself from this just yet, so I'll put my name in the hat for now:
Me, Ian, Rubin, Mary
Q is still recovering and can't lift/move heavy stuff yet- hey Q, would you like to help once you're back to 100%?

Krispy? Mella? Nicole? Reed?

For those of you not in the know, the general rule is that the people running this must be NIMBY tenants, which excludes a lot of otherwise great volunteers. Q used to be a tenant and is great with fire, so she's a semi-exception.

    Personally I think we should plan months in advance then one month at a time.

    Here's a list of dates I'm willing to run. It's a safe bet to say I'll stay till around 11:00 - 12:00.

    12/10 - Tonight
    12/17
    01/07
    01/14 - Chances are I might be tied up in SF till 8pm so this might as well be a no, unless someone wants to double team it with me.

      That's a good idea, but on the other hand one can't always predict one's availability months in advance. But mabye if we try two months at a time to start with.
      The bigger problem is I'm not sure we have enough people in on this. There's you and Mary, who both seem interested in doing it regularly. Krispy said he can occasionally, with notice, but on those nights it'll have to close early because he's got to drive home and that takes 1.5 hours. Then there's me...I keep wavering between wanting to be free of it altogether and being willing to help out. But I just realized that I'll probably be working 6-day weeks from Jan until April, so during that period I REALLY won't want to be involved.

      That leaves 2.5 people to run the jam, unless someone else speaks up. Is that enough?

          Yeah, y'all need keys. Sorry to be flaky on that. Krispy got keys, but then again Norville and Snook know what he looks like, I'm not sure if they know you or not. I would say you (and Rubin) should call up NIMBY and ask when a good time would be. That way I don't have to be around and it's just a matter of you being there at the same time as S or N.

          I just tried calling both of them and got neither, but I'll keep trying. Don't let that stop you- if they need to check on who you are, tell 'em to call me.

                When I got the keys from Snook he said there were some papers still, but I wasn't super on top of going about getting them signed. I'll remind him the next time I see him when he's not busy.

                        I'm sure your help would be welcome (I'm stepping back for at least the next few months) but we have to keep the "official" person a NIMBY tenant so that they have keys and know NIMBY and its people.

                        I haven't been there for a few Sundays now, how's it going? I see that it got a mention over in the SFBay burners tribe in response to someone wondering about where to spin in the bay area. So maybe there will be another influx of people attending.

                          Sunday there were a few names we know well, but only a small group of spinners showed up. It was cold, and this time of year as I reacall typically is not well attended. I remember that during the winter I'd often the the only person there to spin. A lot fo the regulars from a year ago don';t seem to come around. Things really wont pick up till spring.

                            hI, yall... just checkin in. I was told there was no longer a jam here so have not been even checkin. guess i was wrong, not the first, nor last time... I do have to get up (ironically) at 420 on Mondays, but would love to come back and play. hope to see yall soon! i miss you, each and every. same times?

                              Eight O'clock or so till whenever. I think this evening i'll be there around nine or so, providing this )'( camp meeting thing tonite goes quickly.
