I've been in Albuquerque for a little over a month now and I've met some amazing people and especially a bunch of Burners. Problem is, they all don't seem to like the fact that the Burner community here barely gets together and rarely talks. What is up with that? This is such a great place and there are so many great Burners, who is the regional contact? Is there even one? There needs to be more discussion amongst everybody here to bring everyone together. There needs to be more events planned, even if only 10 people will show up. It seems as though we all need to pay more attention to the community. There is so much that could be done.

Im down for any kind of gathering. I was toying with throwing something in the summer myself but havent had time to get any solid plans together, as the three jobs im working has kept me too busy to do anything.

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 6:45 PMas far as i can tell they are not really doing any kind of burner events, nor have they since 2005 or so. there have been no decompressions or regionals since 05, as far as i can tell, though i do know of some very small gatherings that have happened in taos. i tried asking and the only response i got was that they didnt want to because of the trash situation and wanting to keep the cops away. fair responses, but it doesn't seem like the hole is up for it any more. they do have their own entire line up of stuff going on which has to do more with the metaphysical than anything.
i did get a chance to meet the regional contact for nm out on the playa last year, he never said he was going to be organizing anything, and i came off the conversation kind of annoyed, it didn't seem like he cared too much. unfortunately i live in a bitty little apartment downtown Albuquerque, otherwise I'd already have been throwing something.
anyone know of an available venue? :) -

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 7:05 PMAw, I kinda sorta have a conflict too....but maybe resolvable. April 12th is my niece's 11th birthday party, and April 13th is my first roller derby game of the season. But if there is any way I can do it I want to come! I could technically finagle it as long as I might be able to stay overnight in Santa Fe and go to my game the next day (which is at the College of SF Alumni hall). I would also have my Ranger boyfriend attached. What is the possibility of crash space?

And Shoshi and Theodore rock, and we also have Rangers Apple, DragonLee, and Knothead down here. Jonathan (FractalMan) is down here but he's usually super busy, and I know there are others. We do happy hours once a month.

Tue, April 1, 2008 - 11:25 PMexcellent idea! i'm downtown all the time; copper lounge on Wednesdays, burt's and lotus on Thursdays, and sometimes Club 7 on Friday's... i'll definitely be there dancing away this week, there's a dnb show going on, and some dubstep at the mystic roots show which i think is the same night. i really want to make it up north to the pecos/sf but dont know if i can or not yet.
i'd love to meet all of you in person.

i think the idea for having a monthly bar mobbing is a great idea, maybe we can do it in both alb and 'fe each month.
since it's summer, i'll suggest places with patios, like kelly's on central, would be great to do. can any one suggest anything else? im looking at May 3rd or 4th as a good date to start things up here in 'burque, this weekend is too soon and coachella is the weekend after.

Mike, we really wanted to come to your party, but there was too much going on with my roller derby game on Sunday, my niece's birthday on Saturday, and my folks being in town. Hopefully next time!
I want to do the bar mobbings and stuff too, I am praying for one of the two day jobs I recently applied for, because I currently work graveyards at the domestic violence shelter and while I love my job, I work Wed-Sat and that makes it real freakin' hard to mob a bar with other burners!!!! at least past 11 p.m., which is when I go to work.
