Hey Kids,

After I posted my chess playing report, I thought it would be nice if each member could post a little about what they've been up to this last year. I am really interested i what you people have been doing the last year. Seriously, I am interested in your projects, jobs, lives, travel, etc. Let's make this site interesting and not simply about the band since there is so much more interesting stuff out there, much of it locked in your minds. Unlock, load Up and tell me a story!

    Hey all-
Mickey Sampson here. Last year was busy, but overall can't complain. WORK: I am now supervising 12 trial attorneys in the misdemeanor section for Sacramento. Mostly they are relatively (sometimes very) new to criminal defense and I am totally enjoying going to war with them on my side. Doing our part to fight against the war on drugs. FAMILY: My son turned 16 and my daughter 12. I can't believe it. All the cliches about how fast ... I find myself spouting. We traveled to Washington DC, and went to the Vietnam Memorial on Memorial day. Very powerful. Also toured the Holocaust museum. I never feel so Jewish as in the presence of Christians. That whole thing about being "the other". Went to London (probably my favorite city in July. Walked all over. The mix of very old and very new fascinates us. Damn though, two years and my boy will be in college. Ellen and I are happy and still living in Sacramento. MUSIC: So, I play a little piano. My friend plays a little guitar. Who knows what that will lead to. RIP Ron Asheton. Never met him, but ... HEALTH: My depression remains in remission. Hope to stay that way. Those of you who know me know I kicked a serious IV drug and alcohol problem in 1982. Somehow believed no more difficult battles with myself. Wrong. CHESS: I was a damn fine high school player, but haven't played in years. Too many chess players go crazy.

Sorry this is so late. I'll get to the new years plans post in a few days.

      Hey Mickey,

Great to hear from you. I am amazed at what you do for a living. It takes a whole lot of brain power to do what you do. I am glad to see you have kids. Hey, drop me a line so we can exchange emails, etc. Just message me with you email and I'll do the same. I know what you mean with the drugs/alcohol issue. I've been down the same road. Take care and write me back.....Johnny

Are you really going to med-school? Lots of work, followed by inhuman hours at the hospital. I have a brother who's a Dr.
When I was in third or fourth grade my parents got called in for a conference after one of those standardized tests. Naturally I was terrified. I asked my parents what this was all about and they said the teacher said I could become a Doctor if I wanted. My thought then was Ughh, and have sick people coughing on me all day?

        Hey-
real sorry I missed the Annie's Social club show. I would love to see you guys with Max. Sounds like a lot of fun. email is helterskeltersf@yahoo.com. Phone is 916 451 9800. Lets get together and talk old times some time.
so, it isn't really a band at all, but my son has been playing guitar for about a month, I play some piano, and my wife and another friend play guitar. None of us are all that good, and we aren't writing songs yet, but we have an eclectic mix of covers. My wife learned guitar in the 70's, my friend is into alt-country, my son thinks Nirvana is the best band ever, and I like you guys, Flipper, Negative Trend, and a bunch of other bands that don't really have piano. Somehow this means we attempt covers of HEY JOE, SOLITARY MAN, LOLA, KNOCKIN ON HEAVENS DOOR, and a few others. I figure we are a month or two from open-mike night. Ellen and George think that is crazy. My son Dylan is ready to be a star.
        Mickey.
