Hey Kids,
So I mentioned that I was doing an old school country album. Well, the first song got cut and it sounds great. We got a real 1960s Nashville sound to it. It is also the first professional project done at our home studio. I'll be posting it on my myspace page sometime next week. We're on a schedule of three finished songs per week, with roughly 13 songs for the final production. It's gone fairly smoothly, with the exception of a few programming glitchs due to my insane requirement of precise production. I'm shooting for a George Jones, Waylon Jennings sound. This is the first time I have played all of the instruments: guitars, bass, slide guitar, pedal steel, keyboards, etc. It's Saturday night and Jennifer and I are taking a well needed break from it all. I am having to deal with an illness so I am spending my time in the studio these days(our live schedule is up in the air). I will attempt to finish two to three CDs this year. Having a studio in your house makes it very easy. Jennifer (my wife) is a big part of getting this all done and assisting in the final production, coproducing all my music.
On a funny note, I had just finished laying down the pedal steel tracks and had them tracked perfectly. However, I couldn't get the delay I wanted through the effects board. Our dog, "Little Girl" (who is also about 80 pounds) jammed her nose into the computer keyboard and offset the pedal steel track by a few milliseconds. It created a perfect off time delay. The dog will get credit on the CD as assistant engineer.
