I haven't been surfacing much recently because of a new job and a writing project I've involved in. While No Alternative will be playing again starting at the end of the month and then on a regular basis, I have commitments that are series enough to restrict my play tie. I am going to be teaching chess in the public school system here in San Francisco. I am also working on a book that will be published next summer entitled "Punk Rock Chess." It is an offbeat guide to playing winning chess, mixed with stories of the my past years playing in bands. It will be published by a well known chess book publisher. The teaching job is requiring a great deal of preparation in order to maximize my lessons and the book, of course, is a non stop affair. I've chess for a million years and finally found a way to get paid for it. I'm not a bad player if I do say so myself. I am forming a Punk Rock Chess League so anyone interested, drop me an email at htpatterson@chess.com. I will be playing chess at the Hip Hop Chess federation tournament early next year. The Wu Tang Clan will be playing chess there as well. Come down and cheer me own. However, I cannot provide my usual witty banter while playing chess since they frown upon a guy yelling about how many pain pills he just swallowed. See you soon!
