Amusement Is Irrelevant

While it is true that laughter has been shown to have various health benefits, it is now being posited that laughter does not require amusement: the body can be cajoled into a state of ersatz laughter that produces the selfsame health benefits without the bother of being prompted by amusement. That is, one may be laughing without being amused.

Let a word to the wise be sufficient.
