This Tribe isn't about slamming The Knot or other online resources, but let's face it--there's not a lot out there that doesn't smack you in the face with the notion that you have to buy every little doo-dad out there for your wedding, or have the Ultimate Princess Wedding.
What about those of you who want to get married on the Playa, or those who've been shooed away from vendors because you want a same-sex commitment ceremony (legally binding or otherwise?)
Have at it. Share your experiences. For full disclosure, I'm a professional wedding photographer and one-time event planner. Sure, I wouldn't mind getting some business out of this Tribe, but since I tend to book up fairly easily anyway, I'm considering this as a) a way to answer your questions about how wedding vendors operate b) an excuse to keep up with all the Tribes stuff while "working", and c) do my part to make your wedding a bit less of a headache.
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding--whether it be a rock opera or simply the two of you on the beach at sunset.

Re: NTK Overview
Sun, July 30, 2006 - 8:14 PMThis is such a cool idea for a tribe! I recently created an altar/shrine for a wedding in Oregon that was one part Burning Man, one part Renaissance Fair, and the rest was all the personal creation of a delightful young couple. More people are interested in breaking away from the cookie-cutter wedding and making it their own. Same-sex couples also are sadly neglected by the mainstream wedding industry.
Bravo, and here's to not the knot!
