The ultimate bellydance afterparty has a new name--Nouveau Nights--reflecting the focus on spotlighting new material from the biggest names in dance. 2007's major 2-night event featured more than 10 debuts, including new pieces from bellydance superstar Zoe, the re-emergence of a new Lapsus, and the live debut of Ariellah's new DVD number. Red-hot Unmata was a first-time performer and created a controversial new production just for Nouveau Nights. Of course, many of the best elements from past shows were also on board, including Heather Stants of Urban Tribal, debuting a rare new solo. The nights also continued to feature dancing to the turntable artists DJ Layla and Ritchie and live music acts including Brass Menagerie and Extra Action marching Band, plus the unbilled surprise acts (this year included an unbilled performance by Rachel Brice and The Indigo!)that make the whole mix wildly unpredictable!
