I have been doing a kind of independent study on dietary nutrition. I have mostly been reading wikipedia articles, the Harvard School of Public Health website and other various googled sites. My goat in learning dietary nutrition is to understand what the ideal diet would be for me so I can attempt to eat as healthy as possible.
What I want to know is:
Is this a complete list of everything the human body needs to be completely healthy?
- Proteins
- Carbohydrates
- Amino Acids
- Vitamins
- minerals
- water
and what percentage of my diet should each element be per day/week/month/etc ?
Is it possible to understand what my body needs in such detail that I could define the minimum and maximum about of each element (in say grams) that I should eat each day/week/etc so I can organize a structured meal plan to intake the perfect balance of what my body needs.
Obviously obtaining this ideal would be a lot of work but I wish to understand this ideal so that I may come as close to it as possible.
Thanks for all the help!

Re: The unltimate ideal diet

The amount of water to need to drink depends on how much water you get from food, (ie raw foodists drink very little water because they get some much from fruits and veggies, whereas people who are eating meat are in constant need of hydryation and flushing, therefore need a lot of water.
Keep posting I'm really interested to see what you find, but I'm guessing that in the end, the ultimate diet is probably the result of well- honed intuitive eating, and probably you won't need to plan your meals at all.
good luck,
