so anyone have any experience with food combining??? like not eating carbs and protein at the same time or fruit with anything? i have read a lot about it and stick to it for dinner where i just eat protein and veggies. i definately wait an hour before/after eating fruit before combining it with anything else.
fit for life is a great book that discusses this very thouroughly.
any comments????

Re: food combining
Wed, August 17, 2005 - 3:09 PMI try and eat fruit on its own. I will sometimes combine fruit, as in a fruit salad, but I like to eat a single piece of fruit 30 minutes to an hour before anything else or preferably 2 hours after because I believe fruit is mostly water and digests faster.
I also like to enjoy salad on its own before consuming cooked food.
I have heard that its better to combine proteins and carbs seperate, but I find that e.g. tempeh or legumes, brown rice, and veggies with salad work well for me.
I find avacado combines best in a salad.
I have raw foodist friends that combine avacado with a fruit salad, but feel that this isn't a good combination, because even though avacado is a fruit its high fat content makes it different than other fruits.
Here are two links to some food combining charts. The first one has nice images and The second one is pretty standard and I have visited Tara Alder Brooke in Eugene when I lived there for dietary advice and colon irregration. I would recommend here for anyone visiting or living in Eugene, the poor man's Boulder. Fit for Life is a great book by the way.

Re: food combining
Wed, August 17, 2005 - 3:45 PMthats funny, because i got turned on to it by my colon hydrotherapist as well!! but it really makes sense because they are all about digestion and food combining really helps with digestion.
i stuck to it hard core for awhile about a year ago but now i just try and do the common sense things. i definately notice a different feeling in my digestion when i stick to it. -

Re: food combining
Sat, July 4, 2009 - 2:36 PMI've only started to learn about food combining. There are elements used in the Far Eastern diet, such as when to eat cold and hot foods during a meal. Also, there's the issue of in what order to eat food. Eating brown bread with olive oil, for instance, cuts calories and improves digestion, while eating bread alone slows digestion by comparison.
