My page-a-day Onion calendar made me laugh this morning and I couldn't resist sharing it with you all since I thought you would get a similar kick out of it.

I tried scanning it, but it's really just too small to work so I have to type it by hand...here it goes:

Making McDonald's Healthier
Last week, McDonald's announced plans to cook its french fries and other fried foods in a lower-fat oil. What other changes are in store?

1. Phasing out lead-based shakes
2. Cashiers empowered to cut customers off when they've had enough
3. Discontinuing "Thing We McFound" menu item
4. Playland ball pit no longer filled with stale burger buns
5. Thinner straws in shakes
6. Beef upgraded from "D" to "D-plus"
7. Requiring line cooks to gargle with disinfectant before spitting into food
8. Chain to change name to Vibrant Gardens Healthateria
9. Winning Monopoly game pieces good for garden salads only
10. No longer serving McDonald's food

that post is hilarious christina. i need to get one of those onion calenders... but seriously--do you know how much fat they shove into the yogurt parfaits? i used to get those when there were no other food options available (like at rest areas) and i was starving. then i learned about how unhealthy they really are--packed full of sugar and fat.

i laugh every time i see their ad campaign on the fruit and walnut salad. i mean, i applaud the effort, but i still don't trust them not to slather it with sugar and oil :) there's gotta be something bad about it.
has anyone tried one of those salads yet?

I prefer not to buy salads as eating away from home is for things I'd never actually fix for myself, nor allow in the house.

I really have no idea that actual breakdown of McDonald's food. Honestly, I have not eaten in one for 7 years, since High School. In fact, McDonald's is so off my radar that whenever I come across one, I utter to myself in complete disbelief, "people still eat there?" It's kind of scary when I really think about it because I think that the number of McDonald's establishments is rising....so more people must be eating there. Jeesh, I feel far removed from the mainstream Standard American Diet.
